  1. Hi Dave,

Thanks for sending the ZIP with the project.

I opened it on my Mac and created an EXE for Windows. When I launched a fullscreen preview on Mac and the EXE on Windows 10. I compared all the maps and they looks identical - no visual defects or offsets. All text captions on the maps are correctly placed.

If you can reproduce the problem, please send me 2 screenshots - from Windows (with the problem) and from Mac, at the same time point.

P.S. I modified your project to allow keyboard control (pause command) and Navigation bar for testing.

  2. Dave,

Please save a copy of your project on Mac, keep only one slide with a text caption where you observe the problem. Remove all music.

Create an EXE file. And save a backup of the project in a ZIP (see a command in the FIle menu). Send me both files (EXE and ZIP).

Also attach a screenshot - what you see on your Mac.

    We'll check for this problem.

  3. Hi Dave,

Usually EXE shows (created on a PC or Mac) should display exactly the same fonts (size and proportions) on any PC where you run the EXE. Because PTE AV Studio (many years) automatically converts text captions to an array of curves for an EXE show.

If you observe a difference for EXE, please send us a test project. You can copy one slide with a text from your original project and save it as a new test project. Create a backup in a ZIP (main menu > File menu) and share the ZIP file with us through WeTransfer.com or Google Drive. We'll check it.

Another case. It's possible when the same project (.pte file) opened on PC and Mac gives slightly different visual results for font rendering (I mean a project, not EXE show). Because it depends on how Windows and Mac renders fonts. A difference in size of text letters may vary on 3-10 screen pixels, according screen resolution and visual size of a text. So if you work with a project on a Mac, then copy the project in a ZIP to a PC, open the project on a PC and create an EXE show, you may get slightly different visual result between PC and Mac. Also don't forget about necessarity to have the same fonts installed on both computers.

  5. Hi,

Thanks for your patience. We've fixed freezing issue on Macs with Apple M1/M2 chips running macOS 14 Sonoma.

Please try a new version 11.0.10 Beta:

    PTE AV Studio: https://files.wnsoft.com/test/PTE-AV-Studio.dmg

    Player for Mac shows: https://files.wnsoft.com/test/PTE-AV-Player.dmg

Don't forget to untick an option "Open using Rosetta", if you used our temporary solution earlier.

Let me know about a result.

  6. Hi,

    Sorry for our late response.

Version 11.0 (a trial version or purchased version) should open correctly all projects saved in previous versions, including V9.

    Tell me in more details:

    1. Do you observe this problem with a certain V9 project, or with all other projects?

    2. When you try such project, do you see a Missing Files window which suggest you help to find and recover missing files?

    3. If you try to open the same project in V9, will it be opened correctly?

On your screenshot above, 1st slide is selected and I see a full path to missing files in the status bar (bottom of the main window). Check this path if it contain a required file.

  7. Hi,

I've combined 4 threads into this one topic because all the reported problems are related to the same cause.

These problems occurs only on Macs with Apple Silicon (M1/M2 chips) under macOS 14 Sonoma.

We have found a temporary solution while we work on a permanent solution:

Run PTE AV Studio with Rosetta. Find PTE AV Studio app in your Applications folder. Select the app, and then press Command-I (or right-click/use the File menu and select Get Info.). This will open an Info window with details about the app. In the Info window, look for a checkbox labeled, “Open using Rosetta”. You can do the same for PTE AV Player.

We think Apple has made some major changes to speed up apps on Apple Silicon (runloop for system messages). And the correct operation of PTE AV Studio was disrupted. The fix will take some time.

  8. Hi Mark,

You purchased a very good and powerful Mac.

Video encoding is a hard task for a CPU and it fully loads it. The cooling system in laptops and iMacs becomes clogged with dust over several years, especially if the computer is often used under heavy load, causing the fans to work actively. If a laptop/Mac becomes too noisy, gets very hot, and even turns off during heavy load (video encoding), we recommend taking the computer to a service center to remove dust from the cooling system.

Macbook Air with M1/M2 is not affected, because it has passive cooling system, no fans.

New Macs with M1/M2 chips consumes less power and stay more cool than Intel Macs and dust issue should not occur long time.
