  1. Hi.. I am new here and using the trial software for the first time. Things have been very straight forward up until I want to create my DVD. I have my dvd.pte file created and now wish to burn to the disc. I have opened the Burn iso window and entered the details of speed etc but the last option: "iso.image"... here I am not sure what to do; if I need to create that or browse for it (if I need to browse, then where?) Hoping that someone can help me! Thanks in advance Joe
  2. Hi everyone I am a beginner to slideshow presentations and would like to publish to an iPad 4. What are the best settings to use to give reasonable quality. The slideshow has movie clips and music and is currently about 1 gig. any help would be much appreciated. Regards Cairdie
  3. I've just created an MP4 video of my manual demo Matchstalk Man My Way, half thinking it might work the same as the exe, it doesn't, the show advances at the rate of the original slide times not manually using the arrow keys. Anyone know if this is possible. It was my intention to put it on Youtube, but it's a big upload of 200MB. :huh:/> :blink:/> Yachtsman1.
  4. Please can someone remind me what I should have the screen settings set to in project options to create an optimum quality DVD from a PTE slideshow? Not sure which boxes to have ticked or unticked. What does non-exclusive full screen mode mean? Thanks - please see attachement which is as it is set now. Thanks Joy
  5. Hello all! I found a little issue in video encoding with 7.5 beta14... I rendered the entire show in 1440x1080 HD video for PC or MAC. The video renders ok (it takes long time but that's ok). During the playback everything plays super smooth (30fps) but there is a couple seconds when the video glitches like it was realtime rendered. This happens when a bright object enters the screen... looks like the encoder cannot handle this white area like the other image parts. The white area belongs to an embedded video that, funny thing, if played realtime works smooth. I don't understand what can i do to solve this glitch issue... its annoying for the audience to see everything smooth but this couple of seconds. Any hints? Thank you! Umberto Uderzo
  6. I am trying to advance my key frames knowledge by creating a show from images & video clips from the internet. The video clips total 4 minutes, played consecutively, I have 30+ still images that I want to add to the clips in time to the music & fading them in & out as the video progresses. I have added the first slide as Lin explained, but failed on the second & subsequent slides. Lin mentioned "offset" which is where I may be falling down :blink:/> but cannot get out of the loop. At one stage two of the images were linked together when draged one way & separate when dragged the other way. I am using 7.07. Yachtsman1.
  7. I have, today, jumped into the 21st Century and bought myself a smartphone: a Samsung GT-S7500 B)/> . I would like to try "Publishing" one of my PTE sequences into a format that will playback on this device. I have looked at the options available in v7.5 under Publish > Video for Mobile devices. These are all for either iDevices or for Tablets. My Samsung is neither an iAnything nor a tablet. It's a simple smartphone (Ok, to me, right now, that should be complex smartphone :unsure:/> ). Can anyone guide me as to which option(s) would be suitable? And will I need to download an app to do the playback? If so, which one? The device is an Android-based unit. regards, Peter
  8. I recently downloaded PTE and have been playing around with the various features. I decided to make some videos and save them in AVI format. I thought I would make several vides of the slide shows and put them together in another piece of software. I did not add sound to any of them as I was going to do so in the other software so that it would be continuous on playbalck of all. I made four AVI videos that did transfer and play in other softwware. I first opened them with VLC and the first four worked. I opened them in a Cyberlink product, and they worked. Nothing has changed with my computer. I am using the same size jpg files that I used previously .In fact, they are off the same shoot and same card with the same camera setting. I created slide shows five and six and used the same method to make the AVI file. I made sure that everything was set to 16:9 as I did before when I set up the project and just before I went to publsih in case I added a slideand did nto make the change. It ahs the same slide timing. They have between 25 and 30 slides each. Since I do not know about codecs etc, I just put in Microsoft 1, as did before, and opened the configure button and left it with the default. I had done the same with the previous AVI files, and they worked. Now, I cannot get any file made that way to open with VLC and get a message that it cannot open the file. I tried to open it with Media center or player and that did not open either. I tried the Intel codec, and that did not work. I am obviously doing something wrong unknowingly or there is a problem with the software. I do not know what else to try. I have read many of the other posts in this part of the forum and admit that I do not understand a lot of what is suggested. Any help would be appreciated especially if given in a simple and step by step manner as I am very new to this. Thanks in advance.
  9. Dear Forum Fellows, 1. As far as I can see, this "PTE" Forum is the one people pay greater attention. The "Video Output Forum" seams the poor parent people don't care of... Look to last new Topic post by Powelly, dated Jan 09, zero replies! And this is a subject that I am now urging some kind of help, that's why I am posting here, in the PTE Forum, where replies use to be fast and very helpfull! 2. Eventual replies to Powelly question could help me as well, nobody knows, but my particular point is as follows: 3. Finishing my PTE projects, I mainly have in mind NOT to make EXE files to be seen on computers, but to burn DVDs instead, to offer to my family members and friends. This is what I made in the past, using the PTE built HD MP4 (H.264) file with which I burn DVDs by means of adequate software. I use to make such MP4 files using the BEST QUALITY parameters (video bitrate 16000 kbps, 2 pass) and results are good considering it is a DVD (720x576 resolution). 4. However, I am now entering the HD world and I want to burn BLU-RAY discs. I have already made some with good results, using same MP4 files with same parameters (even reaching the MAXIMUM PTE video bitrate AVAILABLE which is 24000 kbps). As I said, results are not so bad, they are good, but I AM SURE "RESULTS/IMAGE QUALITY" CAN BE MUCH BETTER. 5. The point is that maximum video bitrate 24000 kbps is not enough to assure PERFECT and SMOOTH image in cases like faster pans or sudden slide changes, mainly when "second" slide is moving faster (pan with zoom, for example). I already verified lots of such situations and here results are really bad, image flickers (stop and go). 6. It's not a surprise to verify such errors when seen on computer (it depends of computer performance and mine is not a top one, not so bad anyhow...) but it is really a surprise to see such errors in final BLU-RAY disc. BLU-RAY "runs" video bitrate till a maximum 40000 kbps, so, THE PROBLEM IS IN THE ORIGINAL FILE (the MP4 made at 24000 kbps). 7. In case I am thinking well, it seems to me that I must FIND A BETTER ORIGINAL FILE to be used to burn a BLU-RAY disc. 8. So, which is the very best quality file I can make of my PTE project, no matter the size, no matter the time it takes to build. Which file, which parameters? 9. I already tried to make (in PTE) an AVI custom file 1920x1080 using video codec "x264vfw" (as indicated in Output Video Forum), which seems to create a virtual AVI file (!) but I must say I am completely lost! When configuring this codec parameters I want to use multiple pass option, but how? I tried to make a first pass at 30000 kbps. OK, file is created... at 1536 kbps!!! How is that? Then what? How to make second pass at 35000 kbps, for example? And second/final pass is still a virtual one? How to use in NERO VISION 10 which is my software to burn BLU-RAY discs? It doesn't accept virtual things, only real MP4, AVI, etc.. 10. Please, could someone help me (and Powelly...!) to solve this IMPORTANT problem? After all, I only want to make a BLU-RAY with SAME QUALITY as I get in my computer when I preview PTE project, WITHOUT own errors of my computer. Is this possible? I hope so, as PTE own VERY HIGH IMAGE QUALITY can not be lost when changed to BLU-RAY discs, it would be a very big damage. 11. For sure this post will be moved to Video Output Forum, no problem, but I hope that in the meantime I can get my help (as well as Powelly...) Thanks in advance, Jose
  10. After burning literally a couple of thousand DVD's using PTE's video builder in past issues, yesterday using 7.07 I hit a snag. I wanted to let the author of the original material for my "Mary & Jeff's Russian Cruise" a copy of my version, I burned a DVD in my usual manner, the only change I made to the process was to add a title where the blue screen has the word TITLE. & the next page on the top box, added a title. I then sat back & allowed the burn to run until the request to click to eject the disc. I couldn't test the DVD on my machine as I was recording a programme,so I took it to my friends flat who has a similar Panasonic flatscreen TV & DVD recorder. The DVD started to play & I was shocked to see the picture was in a black box, didn't fill thescreen. This morning after completing part 2 of the Russian Cruise, I set about examining what had changed on version 7.07. I read the manual on the subject "TitledVersion 7.0" which doesn't tell me which version it was based on. I found various anomalies to what the manual said I should see, to what I actually saw during the set up process. After finding the flaw with the first DVD, I went into VB properties & made sure both aspect settings were 16-9, I think the first DVD was set at the default of 4-3 but can't prove it. I also changed a few other settings as per the manuals suggestions & started the VB process. The first & second screens went through OK, however, on the Burn screen I got an error message I wasn't quick enough to capture before a second errormessage appeared, see vber1, I clicked on the Create ISO option which worked but where the ISO went gawd knows, it didn't ask me where to put it. I then ejected the disc which looked as though no burn attempt had been made. Re-read the manual, re-set the burn speed two speeds lower, 6 I think & changed the default to Auto to Progressive as suggested. I then inserted the same disc as the first attempt, & set the process in motion. The disc burned successfully so I tried it in my DVD player, shucks it was the same, the picture was in a black box. I have included screenshots of all the processes I can think of plus a picture of the DVD on the TV screen. Has anyone else got the same problem or can spot where I have gone wrong, or is this a bug. Yachtsman1. Due to restrictions in posting attachments, the following post has more screen shots.
  11. Using 7.07, I am compiling part 2 of my friends Russian cruise, there is a video clip on the DVD which I have cropped out of the DVD using PTE's video conversion facility. I wish to overlay the clip over a slide with reduced opacity. When I try to do this via O&A, selecting the clip from the file list it appears as a film strip, see screen shot. When I try to run the clip using the toaster button, I get an error message see screen shot. The clip plays fine without the backing slide, but because of its size appears in a black box, see screen shot of the clip details. Anyone got an idea how to cure it. Yachtsman1.
  12. Hi I only use the Video Builder Deluxe to create .iso files as I am unable to burn discs from windows installed on my Mac with Fusion. Since I have installed the beta 12 version of PTE 7.5 it is saying I need to upgrade my deluxe licence but also that I can continue to use the previous version but I cant find how to! If I just click continue it looks OK but then puts the 'created with trial version' across the bottom of the slideshow Do I have to pay for the video deluxe upgrade or how can I get back to the old version that worked fine for just creating the iso. Thanks Joy
  13. My computer has two screens. In preview it is possible to select Display 1 or Display 2. In the final production is it possible to have some pics displayed on screen 1 and others on display 2. Is there a work round to get this working. CHRIS
  14. I've uploaded a number of my shows to YouTube, but have always been disappointed with the quality. In particular transitions, especially fades are nothing like the originals. Does anyone else find this & have they found a solution. The obvious question if it isn't me, can WNsoft do anything to improve things in the future? Yachtsman1 PS the versions I've posted on Flickr seem the same, however these are also MPEG4 created with PTE. PPS The MP4 is almost as good as the Exe using WMP?
  15. I make HD videos for PC & Mac add them to videobuilder as requested and convert them to MPEG4 files. The size & length varies resolution 1080 aspect 15:9 Usually these will not stream to my Sony TV using WDTVLive and raise the message "Unable to play the selected file." Please see the User Manual for a list of supported file formats which are not listed in the internet copy. Is there a better way to do this or are there different MPEG4 formats. I have read some use VideoPad Video Editor and that Igor suggests other methods all of which are beyond my basic knowledge. Hugh (Alias indifficulties)
  16. Premiere Elements outputs a format with the extension .f4v After looking into this format I discovered that it is more or less a mp4 h.264 compatible format so I took one of my videos and rendered it with Adobe Premiere Elements as a f4v Then, noting that PTE does not "see" this file in the file list, I changed the extension to MP4, imported it into PTE and used the internal converter to output the compatible AVI which played perfectly by PTE 7.5 beta 6. The question is: Could PTE not be made .f4v aware so that it would not be necessary to rename the file with a compatible extension to allow the user to load it and convert it? It appears that it's just an Adobe name for an MP4 h.264 file... I also found this interesting tidbit about it which explains a minor difference: http://www.leebrimelow.com/?p=748 Thanks, Lin
  17. Using trial version, can get a magnificent DVD from pics2exe made MP4 file used on a PC, how do i get a DVD for use on TV as well?
  18. I am on version 7.01 and created a 30 sec "commercial" with static JPGs and videos, with background music. I am just testing for now to see how to get the final show and how the quality ends up on the website. I see the 2 options to publish in Facebook or YouTube, but I want to place my show on my own website, not theirs, so I cant use those. I have tried publishing as a preset HD video at 1920x1080 HD Mp4, and that works great (smooth video, good quality) but how do I get this MP4 now to 500 px wide...small enough to add to my webpage ? I changed the pixels in the presets to "custom" and resized to proportional 500x280 and it works, but quality is horrible (video is jerky and not smooth) I tried to search the forum for this but coouldnt find this so if this has already been discussed, can someone point me to the posts please ? Thanks in advance Paul
  19. Hi all, I have created a video with photos and movie clips. When I burn them to a dvd the movie clips are two slow. But the photos are fine I created a exe file it works fine. Can anyone help me to understand what I have done wrong? look forward to hear you , greeting from Maldives.
  20. Is anyone out there able to help with a comparison between a Standard DVD Player and a BluRay DVD Player when playing Standard DVDs made in PTE? We are talking about Stand-alone DVD Players and not the BR Player installed in PC / Laptops. The test is this: Play the same DVD made from a PTE project (1920x1080 prefered) in both players and note whether there is any difference between the two with regard to cut off produced by TV Safe Zone on the standard player. Please note that it is normal to connect BR Players via HDMI and any other method would not be valid for this test. Your help is appreciated. DG
  21. Hi, I am using Video Builder to make a "DVDVideo Disc – for players connected to a TV". I use this facilityquite regularly and have not, till now, had any issues. My problem is as follows. I have builta trial DVD with a menu of 10 ".pte" sequences. On completingviewing any of these sequences on TV or PC the following sequencestarts without reverting to the menu. At this trial stage I amworking with very short 2 slide sequences built for my trial. Anybody got any ideas as to what I amdoing wrong? I am using PTE 7 for this. John
  22. As I recall we used to be able to upload directly to Vimeo, but that's been changed and as far as I can figure the only thing we can do is make a high quality mp4 file and upload that - but that file is too compressed by Vimeo to produced acceptable image quality. Seems the only option is to upload to Youtube because Facebook's compression is terrible too. Any suggestions for better public viewing on the internet? Isabel
  23. Hello again I have copied an .exe slideshow to DVD for a friend to play on his PC but he cant open it because of his security settings which prevent him opening an .exe from a removable disc. My question therefore is: Is there an output I can publish to which will give equal quality to the exe for playback on a computer (ie not DVD) - (I dont think this is just another version of the DVD quality questions - I have resigned myself to the fact that converting to a DVD considerably reduces quality) Thanks Joy
  24. I have uploaded a PTE created AVI video duplicate of my early PTE Demo show made with Beta 5.57 of PicturesToExe which is commonly used to test video cards in executable format. This video uses the XVID codec. The "exe" version really challenges the video card, while this video version should play perfectly on almost any system. Making the original was quite a challenge. Video clips were not a feature then and the Earth's rotation on its axis while rotating around the sun was accomplished entirely with multiple keyframed png transparencies (over 640 individual png files) and thousands of keyframes. The sun rotation simulation was done with a method suggested by Dominic (TheDom) using mostly "smoke and mirrors" - LOL. Actually - masking, shadows and a "flat" Sun surface were involved. The components for the "wrist watch" were generated with one of Panos' (of PanosFX) amazing Photoshop actions. If you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, I would suggest going to the PanosFX site (http://www.panosfx.com) to learn more about these amazing actions which can greatly enhance your shows. The watch was generated in Photoshop then the individual components were isolated and animated in a late PTE 5.7 beta. Even though it might not be apparent in the short one minute the watch is on screen - all three watch "hands" (sweep second, minute and hour) are all moving and keeping perfect time. I generated this video at 720P (1280x720 pixels) @60 fps (59.94 fps precisely). The video runs perfectly on a USB stick on my Samsung 40" HD (1080p) television. It also runs perfectly using my default player (Kantaris Media Player) on my computer. I am still amazed at the video quality which far exceeds what I have been able to accomplish with mp4 h.264 output from PTE. All animations are butter smooth, no jerky motion of any kind. The images quality is excellent and frankly, I can see no difference between the created executable and this AVI video. For anyone wanting to download and try it on their own suitable television or on their computer (you must have the XVID codec installed on your computer) here's a link. The file is zipped and is 280 meg... Download XVID Codec for PC here: http://www.xvid.org/...loads.15.0.html Download my file here: http://www.lin-evans...howwide_vid.zip The show is in 16:9 aspect ratio. Best regards, Lin
