  1. Hello All I'm new to the forum having just purchased PTE 7 and Roxio Creator 12. I have a lot to learn about both programmes but so far so good. However I'm a bit confused as to which video codec to use when creating an AVI video file which would be compatible with Roxio. I have searched the forum and from a very old post from 2006 I found this: 'The one which you should use is Microsoft MPEG 4. If you don't have this one listed, then you should download and install the free ACE Mega CodecS Pro pack here:' When I create an AVI file I have the following video codec options available within PTE: DVIX 6.9 YV12 decoder Microsoft RLE Intel IYUV Cinepac by Radius PTE video codec. DVI 6.9 2 [Logical CPU's Full frame Decompressed My question is really, are the above codecs ok, which one should I be using, and if I need alternatives where can I get them. Many thanks. Kind regards. Neil
  2. What is iFrame movie format? https://nikoneurope-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/51363 DG
  3. I am trying to add a video clip to a pte show. The avi clip was made with CamStudio and is a video of several photoshop steps. The video plays well in windows Media Player but when I play it in PTE, all the steps are speeded up. I'm obviously doing something wrong but I don't know what. thanks in advance, Jenni
  4. trying out PTE Deluxe 7.0 I am very pleased with the possiblilities it offers and with the ease of handling. However, I am very disappointed about the DVD quality produced by the VideoBuilder: The flicker around high-contrast edges is horrible ! Since the picture quality of the EXE is superb and without any flicker, I guess this problem is caused by the MPEG encoder. I work with high resolution (4288 x 2848) jpeg pictures and even with the simple freeware which I used before (PhotoFilmStrip / DVDFlick) there is absolutely no flicker on the DVD videos. Is there any workaround ? How is the workflow and how are the parameter settings to get the best possible quality for DVD videos ? Regards Karl
  5. I think this is an old topic but really hope to resolve it this time. I use PTE V7 to produce a HD (1920x1080) MP4 using 100% quality and 60P and the MP4 video plays extremely well on my iMac 27" screen with the Quicktime player V10. The animation works very smoothly and I am delighted with this quality. However, once I imported the MP4 to iMovie (the clip was automatically optimised), the video output looks really jerky. Needless to say, the DVD produced correspondingly by iDVD exhibits the same jerky quality. In addition to the PTE-MP4-to-iMovie/iDVD approach, I have also tried the PTE DVD feature but the animation result is also jerky! So can anyone shed some light here whether it is the video editing/DVD burning software issue? Is there any way I can carry the superb MP4 quality to DVD production? Thanks in advance. Pele Leung
  6. PicturesToExe is a wonderful program and I could already make a lot of good things with it. Many thanks to Igor! Now I have a problem: If I make a movie (MP4 720p HD) play, he runs around. In Pic2exe he jerky, even after converting from Pic2exe. Why is this so? Thanks vor help. Fred
  7. I have an extensive Home Theater which has been recently changed to use a single PC to control the theater and also run my own movie librarian software and my P2E Slideshows. The system is configured with a dual monitor output with the desktop extended across the two monitors. The PC places control and status information about the theater on a dedicated monitor (VGA) and places the librarian output on a second monitor which is actually a HD 1080p projection system. The monitors are aligned at the top and the projector is to the right of the smaller dislay. Ergo the projectors coordinates on the extended desktop are (1024,0). If I run an exe, the system places the output at 0,0. I would like to be able to have the slideshow exe of P2E place its output at 1024,0 not 0,0. Can this be done? As an alternate way of doing this, I could Build a DVD file on my Hard Drive and have my DVD player play the file. Or build an AVI file and play it in a small frame at the coordinates I desire. Neither of these seems as flexible as being able to float the position of the slide show onto an extended desktop as I could not just run a visitors P2E exe file. Any Help appreciated
  8. Hello to you all and best wishes for the New Year. Currently, the mayor of my town, I prepare a montage of about 30 minutes. This arrangement comes in the form of a book that opens with, on each page, that enlarge photos. At times, these pictures are replaced with mini video clips totaling thirty sequence, the longest of which is 2 minutes These videos have all been converted to MPEG2. The concern is that PTE is unstable and almost every reading of each of these pages, error messages apparaisent blocking me sometimes to the point of reading block for me when my PC. I confess to being powerless over the problem. Could you please give me advice. In advance thank you M @ RCEL
  9. Greetings all: I have greatly enjoyed PTE and made several fun shows. Typically, I have generated an MP4 on my desktop, copied to my laptop, and then played on our flat screen using HDMI cable from laptop directly to TV (with Media Player classic). I would like to create my most recent show as a DVD that I can play in my DVD player. However, when I try to do this, despite the project line at the bottom of the screen indicating 0.9GB and using a new blank DVD disk, I get an error message saying that the disk only has 1.9GB free and that 2.6GB are needed. Any suggestions? Thanks Aaron
  10. Hello Everyone, well I have been trying for days to create a DVD with video builder with embedded PTE's and video. The main issue I get is either choppy video (AVI files) or when using MP4 video I get no sound with the video. I can create the MP4 output directly from the PTE files no problem. When I create a DVD with a custom menu the video is as above. Can anyone help I am at the end of my tether with it! I have no work around. Thanks, Gareth
  11. This post is simply an effort to stimulate discussion about possibilities for the "video as mask" feature.... One of the features several of us have asked for in a future version of PTE (hopefully the next one) is to be able to use video as a mask. This will open up a number of great possibilities for PTE's extended use not only in AV productions, but also in the business world. A feature we sometimes see on the web is a website with a "talking head" or with a tiny "actor" walking back and forth and talking about the website or some of the features, etc. This is done using green screen (or blue screen) alpha channel extraction. With video as a mask, we could easily do this with PTE and create really interesting possibilities. Today, there are multiple video editors capable of doing alpha channel creation along with a normal video so that the user has both. How this ends up is a black and white video and a color video to match. Programs which create special effects, such as Particle Illusion can be used to create an alpha channel along with the regular video. Once we have the Alpha Channel black and white video which can be used as a mask - we would put the black and white in as the mask and run the video underneath. Then only the animation would be visible through the mask. We could then "animate" the mask as desired. For example, let's say we had an alpha channel extraction of a horse running. We could move this running horse across a pasture still image or a video. We could have a person walking and talking and this could easily be overlaid on a business presentation, etc. There are myriad possibilities once this feature is manifest in PTE. How would this be possibly used in a dynamic AV presentation of the sort used in AV competitions? How would it be received by judges? These are questions which we might discuss. I have no knowledge or experience with AV competitions so am depending on those who have a background and experience to give their input and open minded commentary.... Best regards, Lin
  12. I have been looking once again at the settings available when making an H.264 MP4 Video. The "standard" settings supplied by Igor for a 1920x1080 High Quality MP4 are: Pan & Scan Enabled 1920x1080 FPS=30p One-Pass Quality (Mode) Quality=100 Audio 256 / 44100 / Auto The one thing that I have yet to see a convincing description of is the MODE setting when using CUSTOM. Options are: One Pass - Quality 100 One Pass - Bit Rate with a variable Bit Rate value Two Passes - Bit Rate with a variabe Bit Rate The first option is obvious but the Bit Rate options are a little confusing. Anyone have any insight into this? DG
  13. I'm using v7.0.2 and trying to publish a "HD Video file for PC and Mac". The PTE project file consists of just 11 slides, all of them 1920x1080, each slide having duration 6 seconds, 2 seconds of which is the transition time, the transition effect being Fade In/Out. There is one piece of music (an MP3 file of 30s duration) that has been added via Project Options|Music and set to Loop. The Preview and mini-player both play the sequence correctly. The publish of the HD file (HD 1920x1080, High Quality, Pan and Scan Enabled) progresses apparently normally, ends with the big green Tick, but declares a file size of 0 bytes. I have opened the same project file in v6.5 of PTE. I forced PTE to go past the warning about version mis-match, saved the project to a new name, closed and re-launched PTE and then did a Create of the HD video file. All went as expected and the resultant video file was 5.27MB - and it plays fine in Windows Media Player. It looks to me like I've found some kind of bug in PTE v7. My PC environmant is Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium SP1. regards, Peter
  14. THIS QUESTION HAS RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM DG BUT I POSTED IT ON THE WRONG FORUM (Tutorials ans Articles)SO HERE IT IS AGAIN INCASE THERE ARE OTHER COMMENTS/HELP Thank you DG for the help so far Hi everyone I know I am going to be told that this has been done to death in the past but I cannot find anything about it. I have constructed as I want it to view on my 26 inch 16:10 monitor. When creating a DVD with video builder for my 16:9 TV all is acceptable when viewing from DVD player via a scart cable so I can control the aspect ratio of the TV. But when sending via an HDMI link the show is stretched .. not dramatically but enough to annoy. With the HDMI link I cannot change the aspect ratio of the TV. What guidance can you give regarding image sizing, aspact ratio, virtual slide size (ticked or un-ticked)in order to regain some sanity. I have tried many options but with no success. I accept that I will need to make a separate project for the TV. Settings for the project that works as I want it on the monitor are: Image size 1200 x 800 Frame size 1920 x 1200 (canvas) Full Screen 16:10 Aspect ratio of slide 1280 x 800 Virtual size of slide Fixed size of slide un-ticked Regards Ave
  15. Hi all, I wonder if anybody could help me. Since I use PTE Deluxe, I prefer to make mp4's to play from my MediaPlayer. Unfortunately I have not all PTE-projects of my old slideshows. Is there a way to convert the exe to mp4? I'm thinking on a captue program or anything like that.
  16. I have purchased a Samsung camcorder and produced a 3min 25sec video which was 348mb in size. I moved the video to the timeline and received the message that the video needed to be converted for a smoother play back. Within the video converter, I clicked on the optimizer button and waited until it was completed. When previewing the video, there was no sound for the first few seconds and then the sound started but was all out of synch. Could anyone please assist with this problem? Colin
  17. I had always assumed that once a PTE file was converted from EXE to "video" that a video frame was pretty much a video frame regardless of content. That is, I assumed that if a video card could smoothly play "video" such as from a DVD, that it would play any animations as easily as it would a simple slide because animations are, in video terms, simply the result of sequential different frames. So does it take more video clout to play frame a or frame b? Apparently there are differences depending on the frame content. Obviously there are difference depending on the number of pixels constituting the frame, but logic has always told me that as long as the pixel count is the same, one frame is just like another to video. It would seem that this is not so.... This turns out to apparently not be true. In a recent experiment "Dreams" published on the "Slideshows" forum, I discovered that adding a few masks each containing identical png animations greatly taxed both the executable presentation "AND" to a lesser degree, the video presentation. Surprisingly, at least to me, on my older system with an 8086GT nVidia card, the video portion of animations with the masks played smoothly, while the main HD (1280x720) video portion was compromised. In later testing with the compromised video card and web player, both the snow and flames were jerky. So a word to the wise - if you make a complex show mixing animated still frames "and" video, you might find that viewers with less than optimal video cards may have issues with smoothness.... I must do some more testing by playing the older version on my older system (same resolution different frame content) and see what happens. After more testing, it gets even more confusing.... I put both the "old" and "enhanced" versions on a thumb drive and played them on my old system with Kantaris Media Player. They were identical in smoothness, etc. I played the "web version" with both my development system (fairly powerful video card) and my old system (weaker video card) and even after allowing 100% buffering, the old system still stuttered on the flames animation with the enhanced video while the development system played it perfectly smoothly. This now brings the "player" into the equation. There is an approximately 20 meg difference in the MP4 file size. This leads me to video "compression" because the actual image sizes per frame in pixels are identical. So where the problem appears to lie is in the time it takes the "player" and system to decompress the individual files. Apparently this goes faster with the more powerful video card and hence the smoother play on the web player version. So the "player" can make a significant difference especially with a compromised video card! Best regards, Lin
  18. If I insert a video file in 7.01 straight from the camera and when the converted automatically asks to use it, then the result is in a very unusable state. Parts of image are missing and it seems to jump. But if I convert the same source file to an MP4 to start and then put in Pic2Exe it is smooth and acceptable. Igor was this model addressed in the development?
  19. What is "offset" in the property tab of a video clip used for? What it seems to do is hold the first frame of the video in a freeze frame for the specified interval. Is that its purpose, or am I missing some clever PTE feature? H
  20. If I add a video file and use the video converter as part of the add process, and I crop the file in the video converter process, the slide time in PTE is still set to the original full file time. It seems like it should not work this way. H
  21. I am brand-new to video with PTE, and I have a number of questions, which I intend to post separately. I've tried to read the forum, and apologies in advance if I am asking things that have already been covered but I could not find. My "video camera" is a Canon Powershot SX210 IS, which produces .MOV files. So my first question: when I include the video clip directly into PTE, it starts at exactly the right time. However, when I use the video converter and include its .AVI file, there seems to be about .6 of a second of the first frame frozen at the beginning of the clip. If I use the O&A screen to bypass this, it works fine. Harold
  22. I have recently done an AV for my Grandson's Birthday and was hoping to burn it on a DVD. I have tried burning it using PTE, but all I get is the image I selected for the icon. Any suggestions would be welcomed.
  23. Hello. Sorry for the bad english I have problems displaying full HD video 1920x1080het image is not feeling smooth, I put the show back to 1270x720 there are no problems. I have a dual core 2.16 and a 256MB video card. If I have the same image with another thesis RANGE turn I have no problems, and run the video pretty smoothly. Could it be that settings are wrong? gerrit
  24. Hi There I for one would find it very useful for a list of the short cut keys here in PTE7 Thanks Mike
