  1. I'm new to PTE and have been trying to burn a show onto a DVD. I don't want the "title" at the beginning of the DVD as I want the show to start immediately. The show seemed to burn correctly but when I play it on my TV, it just stays on the title page (I've lost the remote). Please help . . . . what am I doing wrong ? Ingrid
  2. Just finished my Christmas AV show, made an exe & zipped it, no problems. Went to publish an AVI version & got a message this was a trial version :unsure:/>/>. Yachtsman1.
  3. I can successfully create a .exe file from my pictures. But I need the display to come up on my second monitor when the two monitors are "extended" and not "duplicated". What's the arcane magic? cheers Alan
  4. When creating an AVI using "MPEG4-ASP video with AAC audio" (as with former versions) I still get a video with AC3 audio Regards, jt
  5. Thanks to all the good reviews I recently bought PTE to make video-shows of all my pictures. I also bought and studied all the learning DVD’s PTE from BeckhamDigital to give it a good start. But now it seems that I have a really big problem with PTE. When I produce a Video-DVD (PTE 8 beta 5) and I play it on the TV-screen I see a very strong flicker around high contrast edges (leaves of a tree, water, shirts, etc.). This effect is very strong with zooming en panning. It’s really awful and makes the presentation almost not worth looking at. When I convert the same PTE-file into a MPEG-4 file and play this file on the TV with my streamer, it looks very nice and beautiful and shows (almost) no flicker effects at all. Also converting the PTE-file into an exe-file and playing this file on the PC delivers a good result. Instead of writing directly to a Video-DVD from within PTE I also tried to make an ISO-file first and then burning this file (with ImgBurn) to a Video-DVD. No difference how so ever, the flicker stays the same. I think the problem with the DVD-video has to be caused by the MPEG-encoder of PTE. I cannot think of another reason. Moreover I honestly cannot imagine that I am the only one with this problem. Some more details: I didn’t use unsharp mask in Photoshop (the images are raw-files which I only converted into JPEG-files); no in-camera sharpening, most of the images are cropped tot 1920x1080 (except when zoom was required); Edge-antialiasing in PTE turned on; Video-type=progressive; Televison=PAL and LCD; Aspect Ratio is 16:9.). I really would appreciate every advice or suggestion, at the moment I am desperate!
  6. I have encountered an unexpected problem when burning pte projects to DVD for tv (not HD) I have previously successfully burned projects to dvd, but I have just encountered an "error 36" code when burning a project - it occurs in the multiplexing stage. I should add that the project runs perfectly as a pte and exe file on the computer, and the files are backed up in zip. can anyone help with this problem? DeeKay
  7. I'm curious about a couple of things while trying to burn my first project to CDs. In Video Builder, you can select between PAL and NTSC. Both are 4:3 SD formats but the fixed resolution shown in PAL is 720 x 576 (5:4) and in NTSC it's 720 x 480 (3:2). Neither of the 4:3 formats is actually 4:3. Anyway, I burned my 16:9 project to a 4:3 NTSC disc and when playing back on the DVD, of course the video is cut off on my 4:3 SD TV. It seems like the creator needs to know what specific device the content will be played and adjust the output accordingly. Not PicturesToExe's fault. Just so darned many formats out there. Now, about an HD DVD. I read the forums and there isn't support for it and there is talk of dropping DVD support altogether. If I want to burn my 1920 x 1080 project to a BluRay disk, is it as simple as converting my project to MP4 (which I've already done in PTE), then using another program, burn that file to a BR disk? I heard h.264 is the same as MP4, which is the BluRay standard. Any help is appreciated.
  8. Hello all. I'm new to most of this and have been doing a lot of reading and learning on these forums. I'm doing my first project and have a couple of questions. Here are my basics: Windows 7, high-end Nvidia graphics card, PTE 7.5. 80 jpegs shot with a DSLR at 3:2, all resized to 1800 x 1200 (3:2) mp3 music Current project is being built in 3:2 aspect ratio. I will be distributing the final product to several people and would like as much compatibility as possible for the various ways people might view the project, specifically on a PC and DVD to a television. Looking at my output options.... I did a quick test project and published it using the custom output resolution option setting at 1800 x 1200 but playback failed using Windows Media Player. I used WMP because virtually everyone has it and want this project to work without having to download a special player. I published the same project with other output resolutions until I found one that worked at 3:2 - 1440 x 960 (I think I did h.264) It was a saved file on my PC, not burned to a disk, and played back through a PC. 1) Can someone suggest a safe output resolution and format for viewing on a PC, while retaining a 3:2 output? 2) Same output resolution and format question for publishing a DVD for TV? I assume this would need to be published as an EXE. 3) Can both files be saved to a single physical disk? How? 4) Do I publish two separate projects (as determined by questions 1 and 2), save them to their own folder, then burn a disc separately from PTE using my Windows software? 5) A few of these discs will go overseas where different formats of PAL (B/D/G/M) are used. This could get messy. I have no problem publishing one finished project (based on Question 1) and telling people they MUST play it back on their PC only, if that is the best solution. Thanks in advance.
  9. I'm doing my very first PTE project and posted several questions I've been having along the way. Now there one other issue. My project consists of many still photos with pan and zoom and a single mp3 file. I published my one project several ways: As an exe file, as several avi files and several mp4 files. When I play back in Windows Media Player, the avi and mp4 files are fine. But the exe is strange. When I pause, rewind or fast forward the movie while it's playing, the music continues to play. It has a mind of its own. It does not react to my commands. The avi and mp4s play as expected. I quickly browsed the forums and didn't see anything like I was experiencing. Any clues?
  10. I have a 10 sec section of video which I wish to add to an image, together with some other still images. At the moment, the video plays immediately the slide starts. Is it possible to delay the start of the video until part way through the slide time. I can acheive this effect by using duplicate slides, but wondered whether the start of the video can be delayed.
  11. Having a real problem I hope the Gurus can shed light on. I had PTE 7.5 but my Video builder license was overdue and I had upgraded from the original purchase and not saved my older PTE, so I figured that was why I was having a "run time " issue or maybe a conflict with Nero 12???? I keep getting a message " Application requested Runtime to terminate in an unusual way, contact application support team " Was from " Microsoft Runtime Visual C++ Library I have read past posts and watched Yachtman's video and thought upgrading the whole program to the newer Deluxe 7.5.10 and getting the latest License would solve the problem, but No Go I have my keys for Nero12, as well as the exe file. So I could delete it ( it pops up while I'm trying to Publish in PTE, but I would not know where the project files would be anyway!! I did make an ISO file, but can't seem to figure out how to burn it in Nero Any help would be greatly appreciated, I seem to have become to official slideshow maker for family funerals )+: and my wife's Mom has past, the last time I used PTE to to make one for her Dad's funeral over a year ago and that went smoothly. Only thing I upgraded was Nero and now the new PTE 7.5.10 I'm in Canada, so using the North American standard for TV, so kinda bummed out Thanks
  12. Hi Can anyone tell me why my audio isn't being incorporated into the exectuable file for PC? The audio is there when creating the slideshow and during preview but isn't audible in the exec file.
  13. Hi guys, This is the first time this has happened to me, but as I'm trying to burn a slideshow to DVD, it says VOB Files Multiplexing (46%) and it's not moving. What could be the problem? Thanks, Steve
  14. Hi, just bought this awesome program. Saved to exe and screen saver, no problem. However, when I tried to save my project as an avi file, it blue screened the computer. So I turned on my computer and tried to upload to YouTube and it did it again. The error report said something like I need direct x 9 (forgot to save it). I'm not sure what exactly to do. Anyways, I like the 3d functions, as I can make a plane (frame) cause moving text to do just about anything. I know that I am just starting to appreciate this program (just not old computers!)... EDIT: After checking out the website, I seen that direct x 9 or newer is needed. So now I will try to install that... EDIT: I installed direct x 9 from softwarepatch.com ... DXSETUP and even restarted the computer. STILL it blue screened! So this program is only good for .exe, not for making video files on this computer. How do I check to see if my friend's computer has "direct x 9"? EDIT (again) After starting up the old computer, the error report actually sent me to a Microsoft page which said this... "Upgrade your Display Adapter This problem occurred because your video card doesn't support the required version of DirectX. This version of Windows requires a video card that supports DirectX 9.0 or newer." So, now, I guess I'm asking what video card to use... or is it a "display adapter"? I'm confused... Thanks! And I can't seem to get an answer from the microsoft page...
  15. Hi, I have made a PTE file with automatic transformations and converted that to MP4 to play on my TV. This file plays fine. I made also a PTE file with "wait for key press to show next file" because I need to give commentary by these images. I like to play this one also on my TV, but when I try to make a MP4 of this file, Video builder friezes and can not be shut down. I have to force shut my computer. I know that I can play the individual Jpeg images on my computer, and advance them with the remote from the TV. But because they are in the right order already in the PTE file, I like to make a MP4 file, and advance the images with my remote control. My question is, is there a computer conflict to make this MP4, or is it an PTE conflict. Bert
  16. Apologies if this question has been answered before. Just upgraded to Version 7.5.10 and note that the "Publish" menu has changed and there is no longer an option to produce video output for ipad devices. I have a Samsung 10" tablet running android Version 4.1.1. Is it possible to produce a version of a PTE show that will run on this device?
17. YouTube allows you to add a description and tags to your slideshows to improve page ranking. You can even add hypertext download links to Windows and Mac executable slideshows so people that are interested in viewing at the highest quality can download the file. They will receive a redirect warning but it works. I use dropbox but there are many other file sharing options. You can do this inside PTE during the upload process (thanks Igor!) or after the video is uploaded you can edit the metadata. YouTube explains Metadata Thanks, Tom A few screen captures.
  18. I have converted and trimmed two of my AVCHD videos in the PTE converter, I have made a slide show of 14 min. with one video of 1 min. and one video of 2 min. The videos play fine in the PTE file. I have made an EXE and a MP4 file from the PTE file. The strange thing is that in the MP4 file, when played with Media player Classic Home, the videos play fine and smooth. When I play the EXE file of the show, the videos play not smooth but with some hesitation. Is there a difference in computer use, when videos are played in the PTE file or in the EXE file? What could be the difference that the same videos play O.K. in PTE but not smooth when made to an EXE file. My computer has 8mb of ram, and the graphics card is "(on board) AMD Radeon 6530D, 512mb. Bert
  19. My issue is that no matter what I try my images are either elongated or scrunched up (verticals) when played back on a flat screen TV. I've looked through previous answers to this question on the forum, but see solutions to earlier versions (like unchecking boxes that don't exist in my version). I'm new to PTE, so a detailed explanation would be very helpful and quite appreciated. Thank you! Jerry
  20. I like to start putting videos into my slide shows, but something doesn’t work right. My video is made with a Sony NEX7 camera. PTE 7.5.8 gives me the following info for this video: Size; [b]351MB, Container; mpegts, Codec; H.266, Duration 2m 59s, Frame size 1920x1080, Video type; Interlaced. This file plays very jerky in the mini-player, and also very bad in the player for the converter. (So bad it is hard to see where to trim). When I do a conversion of this file, I end up with the following info for the converted video: Size; 661MB, Container; AVI, Codec; mpeg4, Duration 2m 59s, Frame size 1920x1080, Video type; Interlaced. This file plays normal in the mini-player. When I check the info for the non-converted and converted videos in windows explorer, the non-converted has as: Type of file; m2ts and a frame rate of 29 frames/sec. The converted has as: Type of file; AVI and a frame rate of 59 frames/sec. Outside of PTE, both video files play fine in “Media Classic Home Cinema” My computer has 8mb of ram, and the graphics card is AMD Radeon 6530D, 512mb. The question is why get my converted video almost doubled in size. I still have to use this file in my show because the non-converted video plays jerky. Any suggestions? Bert
  21. I have made many videos using Pictures toexe and Cyberlink Power Director. they have always worked. I recently upgraded to the 7.5.9 version . I used a previously made slide show and added two slides and went to "publish" and chose AVI, as I usually do. All of the slides are jpgs. I made sure I was using the same size 1920 x1080. I used high quality, and 30p as I have in all the previous videos I have made that always worked. I use Cyberlink because of the additional features which are easier to use than PTE. As I have always done, I imported the AvI file into Cyberlink Power Director. I went to play it to check and after two slides, I got an error code message that said " A media file in you project may not fully comply with the file format standard..." Since I am using the same method and the same products that I have in the past and the same settings, I am at a loss except to figure that it must be something in the upgrade to 7.5.9 from the 7,5,7 I previously had. I have had PTE since 7.5 and have never had this problem before. I tried making several different slide shows and converting them to AVI with both high and medium quality, and they all have this problem. I did not have any sound in any of the slide shows. How can I get back to the previous 7.5.7 version that worked? I checked with the early version page and the most recent one is the 7,0 version. I do like PTE, but need the early version until this gets fixed. Unfortunately, I did not save the upgrades from 7.5 that I started with. Can you send me a link or ?
  22. Hi All, I hope someone can help me. I have produced a sequence using images of 5" x 7" and 7" x 5" and made a DVD of this sequence. Unfortunately when viewed on the television the images are stretched and squashed to fill the screen. I have set the sequence project options for the aspect ratio to 3 x 2 which is as near 7 x 5 as I can get and have tried the "Fix Size Of Slide " both checked and unchecked. Neither has solved the problem. When running on the PC there is no problem. Am I missing something or is this a common problem? Many thanks Tony
  23. Sometimes I export a PTE project as a Virtual (temporary) AVI in order to transcode it to an Xvid encoded video using VirtualDub. In the past, this process has worked very well. With version 7.5.8, using the dialog as shown in the attachment, I have noticed a problem: VirtualDub records the video at a frame rate of (precisely) 30 FPS (as it is indicated to VirtualDub by PTE), but it seems that PTE delivers the frames at a rate of 29.97. In the beginning, the recorded video looks fine. But after a few minutes, the video part is significantly ahead of the audio part. The synchronization is gone. Regards, Xaver
  24. I created a slide show with numerous pans. The slide show is set to 16:9. the picture size is 1920 x1080 at 30 frames per...The quality is 75. I created an avi with Pictures toexe. I did not add any sound yet. When I play it back on my computer with an I7 processor and mid level radon card, it plays perfectly using the default player. However, when I take the AVI file and use Cyberlink Power Director to create a dvd for the tv, even with both set to 30 frames per, the pans sort of shimmer when played on the TV. which is HD, especially the dark colors, when the pans are moving. The non-moving slides are perfect. I have experimented with the Cyberlink product settings, and nothing changes. I have made other slide shows with earlier versions of Pictures toexe and there was not this shimmer or at least it was not this noticeable and distracting. I did notice that when creating the AVI, the frame rate varied during the rendering when it got to a fade or a pan. Otherwise it was steady at about 30 frames per. Is this normal? Any suggestions to get rid of the shimmer? I have tried using both linear and smooth for the pans. There is not difference in the shimmer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  25. Hi everyone I have been asked by my photographic club to create a DVD with a slide presentation. This DVD will be sent to individuals who might have a PC or a MAC. Is it possible to make up a DVD which could be read on either computer system or would each file have to be saved as a Mac exe and PC exe file? Thanks for any advice Cairdie
