Tauratinzwe Posted June 20, 2016 Report Share Posted June 20, 2016 I'm struggling to learn PTE. With Lin's tutorials, things are beginning to make some sense. I found that his rain styles made it difficult to view the screen at the drive-in, so I've tried to get the wipers on my car to work. As you can see, I'm having problems with the masking. Not quite as easy as in Photoshop. Anyway, thanks to Lin, Davegee and The Dom for the instructive posts and styles/templates they've made available to encourage us beginners. Lin Evans Posted June 20, 2016 Author Report Share Posted June 20, 2016 Looks great Leon - keep at it! Masking will make more sense as you play with it more frequently. You'll also discover innovative ways to make masks using Photoshop. One way I like to do it is to copy the image I want to create a mask for then use the copy in Photoshop to paint in black and white and sometime even add some areas of transparency so you have an exact and position independent PNG format mask to use in PTE. The rain drops are ping pong panned in X direction and shift panned in Y direction to simulate rain. Not as good as your version but a good learning experience. You'll notice that in my little squirrel video I used your "fly away wings" transition on one of my images. The influx of people formerly using Proshow has injected new spirit into creating styles and transitions. I hope theDom comes back and participates in the forum again after the MacIntosh version gets launched. He has some amazing creativity. tom95521 Posted March 9, 2020 Report Share Posted March 9, 2020 Hi Lin, I woke up this morning and decided to simulate rain. I didn't add sound but it does have 66 individual rain drops that can be customized. PTE can easily handle the animation (at least on my Nvidia 1660 Super), only 10% utilization and about 200 MB memory. The French diaporamas are amazing, and I also hope Dom returns to the forum.
