Linear Dissolve vs Smooth Dissolve

Try a smooth version of Dissolve transition. I used a speed modifier (Smooth) for Opacity parameter to make dissolving more smooth.

Do you like it?

Igor,

In comparing your two demos, I prefer the 'Smooth' dissolve. I dislike long dissolves because they are uncomfortable on my eyes. The 'Linear' demo just seems to take a tad too long. Is the current default dissolve in PTE 'smooth' or 'linear'? Hard to tell without it also included in your demos. But Smooth is better for me.

Thanks... Gary

Gary,

Thanks. Yes, traditional "linear" Dissolve becomes more "smooth" with long duration, whereas smooth Dissolve looks "smooth" even with short duration.

All versions of PTE include "linear" Dissolve transition.

15 years ago, one user asked me for a smooth Dissolve and we added it as an experimental option to PTE 4.4.x.

You can experiment with smooth transition. See the file link above.

If it really looks good, we can include this transition to future PTE 10.

Igor, I normally use a short Dissolve at 1.5 seconds. I'd guess that is why I don't see much difference between the current dissolve and the 'Smooth'. But, yes, add it v10.

Thanks... Gary

Igor,

Thanks for showing that there are, as with most things in PTE, an almost infinite number of ways of doing most things.

Here's a limited comparison of just the default Animation Speeds used as Modifiers and a slightly altered version.

Run in Preview or, preferably, in O&A manually.

Add a blank slide to a 16:9 Project and apply the Style.
