  1. Lin, our prayers for a speedy recovery. Interestingly enough, a long time friend just reported that he has a similar malady, caused by a serious accident, in his case. So I've heard a little about the symptoms and pain involved.

    Get better soon!

  2. I have a friend who had a bad experience with a web-hosting site. She's trying to run a real consulting business, and needs rock-solid up-time, email, etc.

Anyone just thrilled with their web hoster? I'd rather give her a couple good recommendations than just tell her to Google "web hosting".

We're in the U.S., so I suppose US-based would be preferrable.

    Thanks!

  3. Hi Lin,

I haven't actually tried this yet, but I saw your demo in another post. It was great! What I really expected to happen was as the snow increased, that the drifts on the ground and tractor and fence would actually get bigger. I'm sure it's possible with some before and after shots, or some creative PS-ing.

Just throwing down the gauntlet for you creative types... anything is possible with PTE 5! Hey, should that be the new motto? ;)

  4. Welcome to the forum!

The current version is always on wnsoft.com. The current "released" version is 4.48.

However, Igor and team are buisly working on version 5. There have been several betas, and the current beta can always be downloaded from this forum. At the top of the PTE list is a "pinned" thread that always has the current beta.

    Enjoy! :D

  5. You have to fade the music in the music program, like Audacity. There is no control in PTE for fading music. You can play a number if music files in succession (although most of the advice I've seen is to prepare 1 file in Audacity that contains all the "songs") but I don't know of any way to control the volume from within PTE. Hope this helps. ;)

  6. There are lots of "freebies" out there... many in this forum seem to have migrated to / endorsed Audacity. I'm no pro, but it certainly meets my needs. THe extra benefit is that if you have a question about Audacity, someone on this forum can probably answer it (even though this is not the Audactiy forum!) :D

  7. I'll weigh in here...

I'm a relative newbie (I have several posts, but I have relatively little time on the product, and I'm not in an AV club like so many of the veterans) so nearly every time I log on to PTE, I have to download a new version and sort of re-learn or at least remember how to do stuff.

I have found the tutorials and pdf manuals invaluable. Starting with Al's PTE 101, that got me started. Since then (back in the version 3 days) I've found (at least for my learning style) that "doing" is the best teacher. I can see a great technique in someone's show, but unless I have a need for it, even if it came with perfect instructions, I'll forget how to use it if I don't try it.

There are many very good tutorials that demonstrate the Pan & Zoom features. And, again, for my style of learning, I've found that just watching it isn't enough. I have to go DO it. So having a manual wouldn't help me that much. Yes, it's convenient to have a "dictionary" to look up the proper spelling (or even use) of a word, but having a dictionary doesn't make me a writer. Writing makes me a writer. I have loads of Photoshop documentation, and every once in a while, I can find what I need in the doc. But when I really get stuck, I call my friend.

This is one of the most helpful, friendly forums I've ever been a part of. Answers come in minutes or hours, not days. I don't discount Leonard's desire to have a manual, but I disagree with the statement

"no doubt after a lot of wasted effort, time and money I will make some progress."

I think the tutorials, pdfs, and "just doing it" got / get me very far, very fast.

  8. Hola Silvia,

Hablo español solo un poco. No lo se si hay un tutorial en español. Quizás puede mirar en http://thefreedom.free.fr/share.

Favor puede traducir este con http://babelfish.altavista.com/

The duration of each photo is controlled on the attributes of each slide. Once the slide is in place in the show, double-click on it to get the attributes. Or, you can drag the slider on the time-line if you are using the timeline view.

Ojalá que sí puedo ayudar la.

    Saludos,

  9. I have just posted a new slideshow on the Beechbrook site.

    It is called "Remembrance"

It is not one that I can express the hope "enjoy it", but rather, that you appreciate it's sincerity.

    John

Very well done, John. I can see you put a lot of effort into this. I liked your use of the movement afforded by V5. Some of the lines of text on the "explanation" slide seemed to overlap, but that was perhaps what you intended.

A strong remembrance of the price paid...

  10. Wow! I was not involved in the slightest in this story, but I read every entry with great interest. This is a testimony to the calibre of people that belong to this forum.

Freebird, you have experienced it now... isn't it great!

I try very hard not to exploit this kind help, but it's wonderful to know it's there when you need it!

    Thanks, guys!

  11. I forget that many of you actually KNOW each other. I've gotten to know Al and Ken a little from some PMs, but some of you actually see each other live and (in Al's case) go drinking together on holiday. Sorry I didn't recognise Maureen in the second post.

I guess you'll all have to be "virtual friends" for a while, until I get to the UK or Canada!

  12. Igor,

I would like to support these comments. The lack of music synch facility is one of the major items which is probably preventing many members utilising the superb Version 5 features.

    Jeff

I'll add my 2 cents' worth also. I am missing the functions that were "taken away." I'm sure it's all necessary, and I'm equally sure it will be worth the wait, but I'm missing my old friends. Thanks Igor.

  13. Hello,

does anyone notes that the presentation loops endless even if you say the presentation has to stop at the last picture

    Regards,

    Kurt

Now that you mention it, I think I did see that in 5B5. I haven't loaded 5B6 yet. It could be something that Igor just hasn't re-installed yet in the new release, but it's worth mentioning! :)

  14. David, Cor,

I just activated your account manually.

You should be able to log in now.

I hope you didn't forgot your password.

But if you don't remember it, do not hesitate to contact me, I will send you a new one that you still can change in your profile once logged in.

I don't know why (only) some of you don't receive the activation email.

I will try to find the reason but I'm not sure I will succeed.

I guess you didn't supplied a wrong email address.

I got in, but when I went to look at (or change, presumably) my profile, I got a message that said "Hacking attempt!" I'm sure you're putting in all sorts of controls, as well you should, but I am really me! :)

Something to look at when you have time. I'm in no particular hurry. Thanks.
