  1. "what about my question from above only 8 pictures 320x240 for YouTube = 87 mb's ???"

    have not a clue

your codecs will be in the windows/programs folders and it will still be there

check your browser history for where you have been

and i told you yesterday to save stuff

    see

    http://www.updatexp.com/sherlock-codec-detective.html

get the - SHERLOCK - The Codec Detective!

    and

    get gspot

    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

    and get

    avi codec

    http://avicodec.duby.info/

and then you can see where all codecs are located

    ken

Hey thanks SO!! much, Ken, for the codec web sites I have saved all these sites and put in a folder.

I solved my problem with the .avi presentation from PTE after conversion being 70+ MB!! I have a program that I rip from YouTube and convert to .wmv, flash, .avi etc. I converted the presentation to .wmv and it works just fine.

  2. the codecs are installed on your system and stay there

you are going to have to document things when you are experimenting

    "i think" not good

    ken

I understand they stay in my computer but what about on the PTE when you make an .avi and go to the video codec section should it also be there? It was once. I should have saved the site that I used to download the video codec. But what about my question from above only 8 pictures 320x240 for YouTube = 87 mb's ???

    Harry

  3. GOOD JOB HARRY

now take the time to set up an acct at mediafire and make a shortcut to your desktop

make use of the folder options and sort things into them

the stuff that i sent you last year on mediafire is still there and you can add the files to your files if you wish for reference

use mediafire as a away from home hard drive:)

once you get used to using it you will feel more comfortable with it

    but dont forget

    " JESUS SAVES"

and save you work and files to cd off your computer and store in a safe place

    carry on now :)

    ken

Ken I made an avi of the production for YouTube but the presentation had only 8 slides and the total MB was 71 MB and higher last night when I used another video codec. I realize that when one converts to .avi it increase the size of the presentation but that much? Do you think the reason for it being so huge is the fact that the pictures where big pixeled (large for the the use for panning and zooming as recommended) Also, several days ago I downloaded another video codec that did not show up when I created the .avi today. Are these video codecs we download are a one time use and one has to re download to use again. I don't remember the name of the video codec but I remembered it started with a "W or Z"

I also figured that since I downsized the screen to 320X240 would make it a smaller production size.

Also, and this might be important that when I checked the size of the SAVED .EXE version it was only 7 MB well a bit more. <_<

    Harry :(

  4. Hi Harry,

Congrats! It looks like you have the technique down well. At the end you might want to try this:

If you don't already have a keypoint near the end of the last slide, put one about four seconds from the end of the slide then another at the very end. Set the Opacity on the Objects and Animations for the next to last to 100% and the opacity for the very last keypoint to Zero and the image will gradually fade to black over the last four seconds. It makes for a nice close and not too abrupt an end.

    best regards,

    Lin

Ok, and thanks I will print out the comment and study this. The regular music was way to long to use so I used audacity and did a fade but some how when I put the redesigned music fade in it did not work. Well have to go and look at it.

    Harry

    CHECK YOUR YAHOO MAIL ACCT

    KEN

Ken, I have a short demo 320x240 slide show and I already ziped it and I have "MediaFire" saved but need to know when I use this "MediaFire" program how to direct it to the forum page for you and Lin to watch!!

    Harry

  6. Hi Harry,

    Congratulations!

In order for people to see the executable it must be zipped then placed on a host server. I think Ken can help you with how to provide a link if you place it on Mediafire. Maybe he can help here....

    Best regards,

    Lin

OK, fine, probably a bit later I want to add more pics.

    Harry

  7. Hi Harry,

Let me see if I understand this correctly. You have finished with picture one and you want to go to the next picture and make it start on the right hand side and pan across to the left as you see it on your monitor?

If so, open PTE and you can begin with the second picture in Objects and Animations by simply clicking on the seconds slide from the Slide List from the opening page before going to the Objects and Animations page.

After you have highlighted the second slide, click on the Objects and Animations tab at the bottom and Objects and Animations will come up with the second slide already loaded.

Next just set the View to 25 percent or whatever looks good so you can see the entire screen and entire picture. The first keypoint is automatically inserted and will already be selected (blue) when you open the Objects and Animations screen.

Just click inside the green bounding rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and drag the image left so that you have the right hand side displayed in the way you want it to look when the slide first appears.

Next set the time for this slide with the Customize Slide - Main Tab. Next click on the timeline and create a new Keypoint just like you did for slide one. Drag this keypoint to the right near the right end of the timeline. With this new keypoint selected (blue) put your mouse cursor inside the green bounding rectangle, hold down the left mouse button and drag the picture to the right as far as you want it to pan.

Now run the preview and it should work exactly like you want.

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Hi, Lin,

Looks like I did it and my confidence is UP UP. Not to say that I wont make a mistake but I printed out notes to use until I get it. Is there anyway when I finish I could send this on the forum? I would probably have to to save as the last slide and then "Create the EXE" and I could send it on the next reply.

    Harry

  8. Hi Harry,

Whether you get a pan, a zoom or a rotate "ALL" depend on one simple thing:

What you do with the Green Bounding Rectangle when the Keypoint is selected (highlighted).

You create a keypoint which you have done. Next you select an appropriate image view by setting the view to about 25% so you can see the entire image and the green bounding rectangle with the little squares.

Next you can zoom in or zoom out by dragging the rectangle and making the picture larger or smaller. Or, you can pan left or right by dragging the picture after clicking and holding down the left mouse button inside the green bounding rectangle. Or you can rotate the image by either changing the degrees of rotation in the rotation block on the right side of the screen under the

Animation Tab where it says "Rotation" or by using the little curved line with arrows on each end which you will see when the mouse cursor appoaches the right or left side of the center of the green bounding rectangle.

You can do any or "ALL" of the above by simply enlarging, decreasing, dragging, etc., the image via the green bounding rectangle (zoom in or out) or click inside hold the mouse and drag right, left, up, down, etc.

Setting a greater time for the display is "exactly" how you get a slower zoom or pan. The picture zooms or pans or rotates. How "quickly" it happens depends on the amount of time between the starting keypoint and the keypoint you create.

    Best regards,

    Lin

Ok, I had some success with putting one picture and now I am going to add another and blend it in and the second one I want to pan from right to left so any suggestions on this. I'll wait for your reply on this. Wish there is a way I can put a short clip on my next reply but I can only do attach. unless that is a way to do it.

  9. Hi Harry,

To get to another image you must click on the tiny right arrow in the far upper right corner of the Objects and Animations screen. You can have multiple zooms, pans, rotates on each image in your slide list. Everyting you do on one page of the Objects and Animations screen relates to only that main slide and any "objects" you may have added to the Objects List.

So after you make the first picture do what you want, click on the arrow here:

    arrowhere.jpg

Clicking on this arrow will take you to the next slide with its own timeline, etc. Click on the left arrow to go backward toward earlier slides, etc.

    Best regards,

    Lin

Well Lin, it seems that If I wanted to start with a pan instead of a zoom I still get a zoom and even then if I want a slow movement all I know to do is to set it for 15-20 sec and then play it and it is the same so I click slow on pan and the same so I am confused and tired. I am really the kind of person that works wll on one on one but that would be impossible. I know it has to be simple. But you know you never touched on the controls on the right with pan and zoom. So, do they play any part in the operation that could be why I want a pan when I get a zoom?

    Harry

  10. Hi Harry,

Here's a PDF which may help:

    http://www.lin-evans.net/p2e/harry.pdf

    Best regards,

    Lin

Your small pdf is beginning to work well just a little. I still can not connect two pictures and run them one after the other and I really wanted to first to zoom in and that worked and the second was supposed to be a pan and when I previewed it only showed the first one only. I will have to rest for now and then read your pdf again. I did set two blue triangles and thinking the first one represented the first pic and he second was the pic #2 but only #1 previewed.

    Harry

  11. Hi Harry,

A "CD" will hold the complete set. If you only need the basic steps to the PZR then you only need the first tutorial.

    best regards,

    Lin

Well, I tried the video learning technique and really it was very hypnotic and just not good for me. I think I really prefer the worded kind. I did get it to work but sometimes I just can't seem to repeat what I did good. I just need to read it and read it over and over to make some since. So far, I really don't know what that blue triangle stuff is all about at the bottom and really I did some pretty amazing stuff not using what is at the bottom with the blue triangle. But eventually I will get it.

  12. Hi Harry,

First a couple of observations. To get help you really need to use the proper terms so that people understand exactly what it is you are trying to do. There is no "push" or "pull" in PTE. The commonly called "Ken Burns Effects" are properly identified as Pan, Zoom and Rotate which are abbreviated as PZR. You can pan left or right or up or down. You can zoom in or zoom out and you can rotate left (counterclockwise) or right (clockwise).

If you look carefully at the opening screen of the forum you will find five different "sections". The third section is called "Tutorials and Articles" and this is where you find the answers you seek.

The 130 page PDF User Guide covers everything available at the time of writing which was the release of PTE 5.0. Yes, it is "wordy" but that's necessary because PTE is a complex program with "many" different features. Different folks want to do different things with the program and this makes it necessary to be as thorough as possible when preparing a User Guide. When reading about things you have no interest in it may also, as you describe, be "boring" but remember what is boring to you may be vital to the understanding of someone else who has a different project or different purpose for using PTE.

To facilitate learning the different features I posted a series of AVI tutorials called "PTE Made Easy" subtitled PTE for Smarties. The very first AVI tutorial of the series is called "PZR for Smarties" and shows you exactly how to Pan, Zoom and Rotate images in PTE.

I'm assuming that by Push and Pull you are trying to zoom in and zoom out. If you will download and watch the tutorial you should be able to easily learn to do this. Here's a link to make it easy for you to find the tutorial:

    http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7901

Scroll down and download the 64 meg "PZR for Smarties" tutorial and watch it and it should answer your questions.

    Best regards,

    Lin

Thanks, this I will take the Library, they have a super fast Broadband and do you think one DVD will hold the complete set? All I really want is the basic steps to the PZR's

  13. Ken, I might have brought your attention to this but I get on the latest version all over the wording runs into each other and I need your advise as to how to work this problem out and funny but the older version 4.49 is fine. What I want to do is for a time is to just produce 320x240 presentations for you tube but I need to learn how to use the avi in the program. I tried and I only produced just the audio and was missing the video portion.

    Harry

Hey, and thanks, I did do a successful .avi after downloading the .xvid starts off not good but then real good! Tried downloading that mpeg-4 codec but it said it was for operating sys 95, 98 and 2000. I forget where but someone else had a site to download the mpeg-4 but it was a codec pack and the size was 49+ mb and you were I think to just select only the mpeg-4 codec. Surely google must have a site for just a single codec or many and you just decide.

I not sure I like that download I did the pdf book 120 pages etc. For me it is just to wordy and at times boring. I need to try to get just simple pushes and pulls and zoom out and in you know something that talks you through a set up with there picture or mine and say now do this and that

    etc.

  14. THE MANUAL YOU DOWNLOADED is the best there is and Jeff and Lin will not be modifying it till the next version comes out and Igor has not said or gave us any good hints recently when he plans to release it

  15. YOU will have to search the forum harry

ronniewest had a couple shows up at one time as well as an old buck by the name - fitzner :)

    ken

Ken, is there an easy read type tutorial for 5.10 I want to do PTE for YouTube and I guess I can use PTE to convert to .avi and I know I need to produce the presentation in 320x240 but I need a tutorial for making the pushes and pull effects. I did download the Jeffnew.pdf and I can start with it but it is probably not the latest but it would have toe basics.

  16. My newer computer is still not where it should be for the newest version of PTE so I am using version 4.49 and looking at one of the UTube threads for making avi files to mpeg-1 I noticed that my screen set up in version 4.49 is different then whatever version is being used in the sample. Would it be that the newest version of pte for video has also changed from the making avi's in version 4.49?

Should I download version 5 and just use that for slower computers? Sent 2 attachments one is from a printout of a thread of the settings the way it should be and the second is from the version 4.49. So, should I change versions ?

OK, back again I just downloaded the version 5.1 and it also hasn't the Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Codec (getting confusing) hmmmmmm!! Also, I am sending this other attachment as for someone to notice that all the displays seem to be not quite big enough as you will see in the attachment. Not just one but all and even when you click video.

  18. Hey guys this is Harry and I still don't have my new computer so I can't utilize the new version until two years or less. But on the positive side all the kinks will be worked out like the older versions of PTE is now. Daughter still in college and expects to give me her Lap top that she uses now in college but by that time it will be old and outdated. It is more powerful then my 98se though. I really am into mpeg movies that I take with my digital camera and the program called "Video Edit Magic" (VEM for short) it also is for a faster computer but I can work with it still but it is slow. So, I took off PTE for now and am now working with my new program. If you are interested in seeing some of my early work on "Youtube" go to the site and search for "harryfitzner1" which will bring you to my video presentations. Or, see if this works:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnCBOAV1pJg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtgOvCHmYos

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kdujZ-mk8Y

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_zXriSXLTg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJpD92PVT1s

Anyway, if you have anytrouble go to the site and search "harryfitzner1" you will need "DSL" I can't even watch my own presentations unless I go to the library which is "high speeed"

Sorry for using this forum for this but I believe perhaps someone out theie in PTE land is saying "I wonder whatever happened to Harry".
