  1. My apologies if i am sending this in the wrong forum.

When I send a PTE exe file as an attachment in Outlook Express the recipient gets the message "Outlook Express did not allow us to open this type of file. It said it might be harmful for our computer".

To guard against viruses ISPs do warn not to open emails containing exe file attachments but how then does one send a genuine PTE exe file?

My recipient has tried disabling his virus software and downgrading his security settings to the lowest but he still gets the same message.

Members must have encountered this issue and i would be most grateful for the solution.

  2. Gordon,

I suggest you first confirm for yourself that the project does still open correctly in your previous version of PTE. If it doesn't then the beta version might have no bearing on it.

When you installed the beta version did you take all the default options during the install - or did you customize anything?

Is the problem restricted to just this one project?

What happens if you use your old version to create a little test project and then try and open that in v6.5 beta? Do you get the same error messages?

Are you sure that the "missing" images have never resided on drive D:?

    regards,

    Peter

Many thanks Peter. I did a test project with 6.5 and it is okay. None of my existing projects work on 6.0 so it is not a 6.5 issue. For some reason, for my old projects 6.0 and 6.5 want the slides to be in the D: directory whereas I can find them fine in C: and I don't use D: It looks like I've got a bit of corruption somewhere so i shall investigate further

Keep up the good work Igor - it is a magnificent product.

  3. I've just downloaded 6.5 Beta. It installed okay but when I try to open my existing projects I get an error message saying it cannot find the slides and on the detail list of slides it is looking for it gives the directory as D: whereas all my slides are on my C: directory.

Why is it doing this and how to I tell it to look in the C: directory?

    Many thanks

  4. My old computer crashed and I have replaced it with a Vista system. Fortunately I had saved my important data and photos but when I try to copy my PTE folder to the new computer I get Invalid messages and when I download the latest version I get the trial version. I still have my REG file but when I enter that i also get Invalid message. I have asked Winsoft to email me my registration keys (for deluxe and Videobuilder) but don't get any reply. Igor, if you see this can you help me, please?

    Have a super Christmas.

  5. Hi,

I would appreciate any advice on specific laptops available in the UK that would be suitable for preparing and in particular projecting PTE shows utilizing PAZ. My camera club are looking to purchase one that would be used for this purpose.

I appreciate the need for a good graphics card.

Also from personal experience, I have a laptop that does have a good graphics card but also regrettably has a wide screen, which I find most irritating to work from as it displays a flattened image even though the display is set to 1024 x 768 (1.33 aspect ratio) yet the true aspect image is projected. Therefore, a screen with an aspect ratio of 1.33 seems to me to be a must have.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

I too am in the market for a good laptop so will be very interested in any suggestions (good or bad!). I did order one from Evesham 6 weeks ago to be built to my own spec but when they went into administration I got an email saying they could not supply the ordered machine and I am still waiting to get my money back! So beware folks.

  6. To Igor and the team

Many congratulations on the final result. I have been pursuing developments right through the beta stage and expect that PTE 5.0 is going to be a market leader. Certainly i am consigning my Proshow Producer to the archives!

Very best wishes and thank you

Absolutely fantastic show, 11 out of 10! I suffer from vertigo so baloons are not for me but my wife has been up in baloons in England, South Africa (sun City) and Florida - she loves it! When possible i follow with my camera but I'm not up to your standard, I'm afraid.

I especially liked the frame you used in your insets. I presume you did that in Photoshop. I would be most interested to know how you made it or better still if you could post a template on this site or send by email.

Look forward to your nest production.

  8. Hi:

The Beta is working great. Thanks for a great program. Here is my question. When I make up a slideshow with many pictures, is there a way to make pan/zoom work automatically? I mean, instead of giving it a start point and end point, is there an auto mode? I can't find it if there is. I was thinking of random movement.

    Dennis

    Hi Dennis

I agree with the others - Igor and his team have already done a superb job so let's not delay the final with last minute enhancements. Perhaps your idea can be put into the pending tray for the next version!

I have been downloading the various templates recently produced by TheDom and it occurs to me that this may present you with a temporary solutiuon. If you could create a slideshow with as many slides as you are likely to require, apply all the pan/zoom effects you might want to that show and save it as a template. Then when you create a new show you simply substitute your new slides for those in the template. Just an idea!

  9. This is a genuine open question.

I have both Photodex ProShow Producer (PSP) and WnSoft PTE BETA#5 and clearly the quality of the finished DVD in PTE is better than PSP, why is this the case?

I would like to use PTE, but a couple of downsides for me is that WnSoft do not operate a Sharing Server, nor can you produce a Flash output.

I have a website but I do not want to have my own server, the reason I am looking for a Flash output is so that I can give potential customers the option to run a slideshow in Flash.

I can of course produce an .avi file in PTE and transfer into PSP, but the quality in PSP deteriorates greatly.

What is the best way to capture a project from PTE so that I can give my potential customers the option I think they will need.

    Hi Mike

I too have PSP but since I installed PTE last year I am sticking with it. It is streets ahead of PSP. Why the quality of output should be better i have no idea; maybe the other site experts can answer that.

What i love about PTE is this forum. I spend hours every day browsing through and i have learned so much. I feel like I am getting to know the regular contributors so a very big thanks to you all and keep it going.

  10. Hi Gordon,

You're perfectly right, there was a problem in the template "2 - The Dom - Photo Album-Template-2Pics_Leaves Effect". I forgot to remove an object that I used for a personal project.

    (This template corresponds to "TheDom-PhotoAlbumExtended-Template.pte".

I changed its name when I added a third template included in the archive).

I uploaded a new version (1.22) and everything should be ok now. :)

    http://thefreedom.free.fr/share/dload.php?...amp;file_id=181

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi Dom

Many thanks, it now seems to run okay.

  11. Hi Bert,

For my "photo album" template, I think you're correct with this :

    But instead of

    do the following :

    a - start PTE

b - click on "file" > "open" and locate "TheDom-PhotoAlbumExtended-Template.pte" (in the folder where you unzipped the archive). Double click on it.

c - click on "Preview" to verify the result

d - if everything is fine, click on "file" > "create slideshow as" to create an exe file.

    That's it! :)

If you want to use an other cover for your album :

1 - open the "alternate covers" folder (in the folder where you unzipped the archive)

    2 - browse each sub-folder

3 - if you find a cover which suits your taste, copy the three files you will find in the subfolder you choosed and copy (replace) them in the folder where you unzipped the archive

4 - start PTE, open "TheDom-PhotoAlbumExtended-Template.pte" and click on "preview"

5 - if you're not happy with this new cover, repeat step 3 until you find the one you want

use exactly the same method if you want to change the pages ("alternate pages" folder) or the frame around the picture ("alternate corners" folder).

    Hope it helps.

Sorry, Dom, but I'm having problems too!

I have downloaded everything and unzipped but I can't find a file called "TheDom-PhotoAlbumExtended-Template.pte". I do have a file called "The Dom - Photo Album-Template-2Pics_Leaves Effect". When I open PTE V5 beta8u and open this file its shows a list of files (but no thumbnails) and when I click Preview I get the error message that it cannot find 4 files each named "Picture:T\2007\SkiMars2007-Gress en Vercors\PhotoAlbum\The Dom-PhotoAlbum-Templates\Title.png.

Whjere do I go from here please?

    Gordon

  12. Crystal,

    Welcome to the forum!

Do you still have the old computer? If so, look for a file in the PTE program folder called "PTE.KEY" or "PTE.REG", copy it over to the PTE program folder on the new pc, and double-click on it to install it into the registry (it is a text file exactly 231 bytes in size).

If you don't have your old files, then send an email to support@wnsoft.com.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Al

I opened up this dialogue out of interest as i am very conscious of the problems when files get lost. I've looked through my file directory and I don't have any file called PTE.KEY or PTE.REG yet I am able to open and use PTE. Am I missing something, please?

    Gordon Cochrane, Cardiff

  13. Now that I have mastered the basics of PTE I am turning my attention to Photoshop so that I can make the best use of integrating the two. I am having problems with Actions in Photoshop CS". I know how to create an action set and actions within it but if I stipulate a function key, when i press the F key nothing happens. Also, when I ask the Action to Play it only opens up one action step at a time and I have to press OK to move to the next action. In other words the action is not playing automatically. I have tried setting up Batch commands as well but I get the same result, the Action only plays one step at a time.

I would be most grateful if anyone else has experienced this and ifthey can tell me what i may be doing wrong.

  14. Saving as a 32 bit BMP, as suggested by Tom, didn't work in Photoshop CS2.

I had high, but shortlived, hopes for Rapgh's suggestion. I am able to open up the transparent GIF in Object Editor and Add it to the slide box which then has both the original GIF file (with white background) and the Added file (with transparent background. When I deleted the original file and opened Preview the transparent file played fine. So I thought my problems were solved until I tried it with a second file. When I Added that to the slide box and ran Preview thepreviously ok file showed up with a white background. Although Object Editor does the job, somehow it doesn't seem to save what it has done.

So, I'm still open to suggestions. Incidentally I also use ProShow Producer where I have the same problem. I emailed them with the problem 2 days ago and have heard absolutely nothing. Yet within hours of asking the same question on this forum I have had 5 suggestions. That is the strength of P2E.

  15. Many thanks for your prompt replies. Have tried our our suggestions. GIF opens up the image but with a white background. The PNG file is not even lised when I open up the file directory within PTE although it is listed if I go into Explorer. So I'm afraid I am no further forward. perhaps I have to wait for version 5.00.

  16. I have been working through Barry Beckham's PTE tutorials. They are absolutely marvellous and I recommend them as compulsive buys for anyone, like me, who is new to PTE. But I have run into a problem! I have been experimenting with creating photos in Photoshop CS2 with transparent backgrounds but when I import them into PTE they have white backgrounds. This happens when I save as JPEG or as JPEG2000 and when I save as PSD PTE won't even open it up.

Can any of you experts help me out, please? Am I doing something wrong?

  17. Please suggest your 3-5 the most expected features in v4.40 of PicturesToExe. We've started work on this version. I'll add all suggestions to my todo list. Thanks.

It would be very useful to have a double row for inserting slides. This could give the bility to superimpose one slide on top of another, fade in and fade out and have multiple slides on the same screen.

  18. Wow, was I surprised when I logged on this morning to find that there had been 5 replies to my problem. I am most grateful to -

Dave for his comments and I have downloaded Audacity and will try it out.

Guido for referring me to his website which I found most helpful. I will follow through at a more leisurly pace.

Barry for referring me to the video turtorials. I have ordered one.

I'm so impressed with the help I have had in the few days that I have been evaluating PTE that I have decided to register as a fully paid up memebr and look forward to becoming part of the family and getting full enjoyment out of working with PTE as it, andI, develop.

Many thanks again to all of you.

Many thanks for your prompt response. I have already downloaded each of the tutorials you refer to in your link. They are helpful but what they don't explian is how to tailor the length of a music clip to a specific number of slides. Say, for example, that at the end of slide 6 I want to change to music track 2 but music track 1 overruns, how do I trim track 1 so that it ends at the end of slide 6 and music track 2 begins? I have tried doing it by switching off music sync and inputting a music track on slide 1 and music track to on slide 7 using Custom Slide. This seems to work but it is a straight cut from track 1 to track 2, there is no fading out and in. So i don't know if I am on the right lines or not. Any ideas will be welcomed.

  20. I've been looking for a while for a really top rate program to create slide shows with background music, transitions, etc and, on the recommenadtion of a couple of friends, have downloaded an evaluation copy of PTE. So far I have found it very good at putting together the slides themselves but i am struggling when it comes to incorporating background music. i haven't found any tutorial on the subject so if someone can tell me where to look i would appreciate that. My difficulty is that if i create a slidewhow of 30 minutes in which i want to include sevaral music tracks whose combined length eceeds that running time, how do I reduce the length of each track? It would be so much easier if this could be done using the timeline but I don't seem able to do that. Any advice on what i need to do will be very much appreciated.
