  1. Dear friends of PTE

When I open the project options box in PTE 5.6, I can't read all what is written. The last line is just visible at the very top and I luckilx remember from earlier versions what it is. I also notice this effect of cut letters and words in other boxes of PTE.

I have windows vista and my screen runs at 1680x1050. Other resolutions don't help.

    Can anyone help me?

    Many thanks!

    Kind regards

    Markus

  2. Dear Ron

My wife and I had to delay our departure for our holiday and this gave me the opportunity to try your tutorial. It's very well made and I could easily follow step by step. I tried it out in my slideshow and it works perfectly well.

I just wanted to tell you... and to thank you!

    Best regards

  3. Dear friends

I like to set a small white frame around my pictures when I prepare them for PTE. But now that version 5 is coming and is offering us the possibility of zooming, I would like to know if there is a possibility to set a frame that doesn't disappear when the picture is zoomed. It's not nice to have some pictures in a show with a frame and the zoomed ones without. I was thinking of a transparent picture overlayed to the zoomed one, but don't find neither the way how to create it in Photoshop nor to use it in PTE.

I'm wondering if there is a solution!

    Yours sincerely

    Markus

  4. Good morning Igor

I have made the test and noticed that if it is better than in the previous version, I now have a delay of about 3 secs at 5 min and more at 9 min.

Tell me if you need more detailed indications.

Further I would like to tell you that I can help you with testing this week.

Then I'm on holiday and absent for a week.

    Yours

    Markus

  5. Hi Igor

I have just made the test, even twice. The synchronisation doesn't work. I have again the same delay: the text begins too soon, and it seems to me that the delay is even bigger than before.

I'm ready for the next test...

    :-)

  6. Great news and thanks to Igor

Igor has also sent me a version of PTE called beta 11 music test to try it out. And it works! Now my slideshow is perfectly synchronized and there is no delay between what the timeline shows and what happens during the preview or when the show runs as an executable.

    Great, and thanks to Igor!

  7. Hi all!

I have just read Igor's posting about renaming "Synchronize music and slides". Maybe I'm doing something wrong:

In a slideshow of 9 minutes with about 75 slides, after 4min and 56 secs I reduce volume of music and a spoken text begins. I want to synchronize the first word of that text with slide number 45.

On the timeline, I see that this text starts exactly at 4'56''. I also see that slide number 45 is set at 4'56''.

What must I ckeck: synchronize music and slides or music plays independently?

Anyway, I experience that in both cases when I start the show with the preview at the beginning or create the exe. file, my text begins about 4 seconds too soon. When I check the timeline, it's still set at the right place (4'56'').

If only I would find the solution...

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards

  8. Hi all!

When I read the postings in this forum, I have the impression that I am the only one having problems with the synchronisation. What am I doing wrong?

I have started to create a 9 minute slideshow in beta 8. I continued to work on it using then beta 9, 10 and now 11. When I right-click a slide to start the preview from this slide, my soundtrack and the slide are perfectly synchronized. When I start the the preview of the whole show, the synchronisation gets lost although the timeline still shows the same.

Ex.: after 4min and 56 secs I reduce volume of music and a spoken text begins. On the timeline, I see that this text starts exactly at 4'56''. When I start the show with the preview at the beginning or create the exe. file, my text begins about 4 seconds too soon. When I check the timeline, it's still set at the right place (4'56'').

Can anyone help me? I have spent hours to try to fix it, but it doesn't work.

    Best regards

  9. Hi all!

It really becomes a pleasure to work with PTE, but I still have one major problem: I can't synchronize music and slides. Everything is perfect, when I prview from one paricular picture. But when I launch the main preview that starts the show from the beginning, I get a gap which becomes more important with the length of the show. For instance, the timeline at 5 min of the show duration shows perfect synchronisation between the waveline and my slide. When I start the preview, after 5 min of the show the synchronisation is delayed of about 4 seconds. Why?

    Yours sincerely

    Markus

N.B. I'm a bit lost in that forum and not sure if I'm at the right place...

  10. Hi dear PTE friends

I'm setting up a new slideshow of about 9 minutes length with "normal" transition durations (about 3 secs fading transition, 4 secs fixed projection).

When I use "start preview from this picture" to check what I did, the music and the slides are perfectly synchronised. But when I use the preview of the whole show that therefore starts at the beginning or when I create the .exe file, the synchronisation doesn't work anymore and the delay between the music and the slides grows with the length of the show.

Why do these different modes show that difference of synchronisation?

    Many thanks for your help!

  11. Hi Tomuk

Maureen has summarized the proceeding: fn-tile and the tile with the screen symbol. I had to look for it, too. You also can check your manual. On my HP nx7400 it's also fn+F4.

I notice a big difference with the screen turned on or off. The blendings are smooth once it's turned off, jerky (English? Hmm, be patient with the swiss guy I am) when it's turned on.

There's another advantage of turning it off: neither the spectators nor you are distracted by the laptop screen during the projection of your show and there's no disturbing light source.

Wish you much fun with PTE!

  12. Hi Al

I have the SX60 since a couple of weeks. The performence itself is the same as the SX50: 1400x1050, also the ANSI Lumen and the contrast. The connectivity is better and some other "details".

I'm very happy with it and I'm able to project my show on a wide screen of 4m large. Probably even more, but never tried. When I do public presentations (well, I only have mad 2 up to now), I use a mobile screen of 2,5x2,5 meters. The beamer is very simple to use and provides, together with the above mentioned laptop and music boxes from Logitech (X-230) an easy to handle package with great results.

At the beginning, I was a little bit decieved by the fact that black is a bit "bueish", not deep black. But this appears more in a very dark room and the closer you set up the projector to the screen. It's nothing bad. Anyway, I never could afford a better beamer... I'm just a small amateur.

    Have a nice day!

    Yours

    Markus

  13. Hi buddies!

Let me call you my buddies: you have helped me to resolve the problem! My show now works smoothly and without any problem on my laptop!

    Thank you for your help!

Ah, you want to know what was the reason? Hmm, so simple: just turn off the screen of the laptop! That was it!

Now I hope that one day I can give a good tip to an user of this forum, too.

    With my best regards

  14. Hi Steve and Al

I'm impressed by the number of persons on this forum and how detailed the postings are. Thank you also for the welcome on this forum. I will be here regulary, I have got the "PTE"-virus. Very bad illness...

My beamer has a max. resolution of 1400x1050 px. So I prepare my images at this resolution and set the beamer to full screen or true size. The pictures are all about 1-1,5MB and I only have a few pictures with short blending times. I usually set 7sec per picture: 3 sec of blending, 4 sec of "resting" (pfff, my English...).

Yes , I let the laptop screen turned on and I will try to run the show with the screen turned off.

How can I check the VGA out connector? I realize I don't know much about the technical side. Do you mean the refresh rate of the laptop screen? It's 60 hz and it seems I can't change it. Or is there another refresh rate to be set?

Hmmm, and what is the native resolution of the projector? Is this the 1400x1050 px? If so, I in fact set my laptop to this resolution for the projection. I do this because I want the best picture quality possible and project them at 1400x1050.

I apologize for those naive questions.

    Yours

    Markus

  15. Dear Fabrizio

Thank you for your posting. I don't know much about the technical side and about hardware. The notebook I use for the presentation (HP NX7400) with my beamer is recent. I have 2GB RAM and I hope the graphic card is good enough.

If not, I don't know how to present my slideshow: must I get a "normal" PC in a big or mid tower when I go for a public presentation? Hmm, I don't use Mac, they have a powerful mini computer. Does this exist for PC?

    Best regards

    Markus
