  1. Hello Hartmut,

I can't tell you why these particular AVI files respond as they do, but the problem is not your computer because I have plenty of resources on my own system and they do the same (green rectangle). The work-around is to convert them to another format. I converted them via the freeware program (Video Pad Video Editor) to WMV format and they then work fine. I have uploaded the two zipped videos in wmv format for you. They are a good bit larger now in size, but they work fine in your project. Just replace the originals (I renamed the Alphorn one for simplicity) with the wmv versions and everything should work fine. By the way, very nice photos of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau and surrounding area!

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Hello Lin,

I enjoyed reading your response, the work-around and the converted video files. Now I can see all slides and the video without any problem. Thanks also for your kind words regarding the photos. All three of us enjoyed the trip to the Allgäu (Bavarian region).

    With kind regards,

    Hartmut

  2. How can I avoid the flash of green rectangle?

    Hi,

In “Known issues” Igor mentioned that a flash green rectangle may appear instead of a video clip. This happened to me yesterday. How can I avoid it?

I created a very simple slide show in PTE 7 beta 11. The frames of all slides are 1920 x 1080 px, but in project options I set the virtual size of a slide to 1280 x 720 px, because of the two video clips (720p) in avi format. The same green rectangle appears in beta 12. In vlc media player, I can watch the two video clips without any problem

I suspect that my computer may be too old. My Toshiba Satellite is running with Windows Vista, Intel T7200 @ 2.00GHz, 1022 MB RAM and DirectX.11 version. The graphic card is GeForce 7600 with integrated RAMDAC and 504 MB.

Here is a link to the zipped project:

I appreciate your advice. After June 29, 2011 I will have access to the internet again.

  3. Hartmut,

I have several manual sequences and none of them show the problem you mention about not being able to advance them manually in Preview under v5.5. I cannot advance them manually in the mini-viewer but when I ask PTE to Preview the sequence, they behave as I would expect them to.

I realise this doesn't solve your problem, but it does suggest that it is not a general bug in PTE V5.5

    Peter,

Thank you for your reply. I tried it again and found out what had happened. Somehow I had unchecked the box "Permit control of show using keyboard". No wonder it didn't work.

  4. Hi Igor and team,

I am impressed with the new version. Thank you for all your good work.

I am not sure if I missed something or did something wrong. I opened the beta version first, than I opened a project that I had done with v5.1. All slides should advance manually, but in preview mode I can see only the first slide. No key will show me the next slide. If I save the old project with the beta version, the exe-file doesn’t run either. The mini player works fine. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium.

  5. Hi Xahu,

I experienced something similar during a presentation in October 2007 with a Canon X600. I am using Vista Home Premium, all images are 1600 x 1200 although the beamer has only a native resolution of 1024 x 768. On that particular evening the presentation was already "running" (first slide was a black slide; manual advance) while I gave a speech. Before I finished my speech, the "no signal" sign appeared on screen. After this experience I changed my power settings to never turn off the display, never put the computer to sleep and maximum brightness for both conditions (on battery and plugged in). This has helped me so I know longer see a black line running from top to bottom. I also exit the anti virus program and firewall and clean the cache of Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Bridge.

When I look carefully at the slides with panning (either horizontally or vertically) I can still see some minor shimmering. As I rarely use PZR effects in my presentations I can bear with it. I have to admit that I never tried the show with images adjusted to the native resolution of the projector.

That's all I can say to your post. As I will travel until February 26, 2008, I may not be able to access the Internet.

  6. Thanks to all who took the time to respond to my post. I really enjoy this forum and the many creative people. As far as I understand your answers there is no way to fade out the music on the last slide with PTE 5.03 except by doing it manually. John, you understood me correctly. I hope this feature will be included in PTE in the near future.

  7. I am preparing a short presentation of 5-10 minutes with one or two music files in the background. My wife will comment on the pictures during the presentation. All pictures are set to "Stop at the end of this slide." The last slide is blank. I would like to fade out the music on the last slide, but I couldn't figure out how to do this.

Can anybody offer a solution or a workaround?

  8. Hi to all,

I started to use PTE in August 2006. Whenever I found a piece of information that was helpful to me, I added it to my WordPerfect PTE help file and hyper linked the topics. The hyper links are not working in PDF, but you can search for each topic.

I am indebted to Lin, Al, Dom, Ken, Jeff and many others. Quite often I forgot to mention the author of the post in my personal help file and I sincerely apologize that I have not given due credit to the authors. So if there are any objections to this help file, I do not mind, if the moderators erase this post. I don't want to confuse or upset anybody. The attached file helped me to get a better understanding of PTE and how to use it.

  9. Hi to all of you,

I really like this forum and I hope that one day I can contribute something to the answering side instead of just asking questions. Thank you for all your advice and for your patience with me. I enjoy using PTE combined with Photoshop and I will try out your advice this weekend especially with smooth text combined with anti-alias.

(Friday afternoon) I just followed your advice, Al. and used smooth with anti-alias. It works and looks nice. Thanks again for helping me.

  10. Runtime Error!

Yesterday evening I started to burn DVDs. I never did it before so it may be that I did not follow the proper procedure. In all cases I used DVD-R 1-16x from TDK 4.7 GB. I used a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K17LF ATA device. When I tried to burn a DVD-video disc I got the following error message:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime Error!

    Program: ...nSoft PicturesToExe\5.00 Beta 19\VideoBuilder\author.exe

    abnormal program termination

This happened when the program executed: VOB files multiplexing.

    I attached the project options.

  11. Igor,

Thank you for explaining how "Stop at the end of this slide" can be used to manually control the presentation. This change can be done easily and quickly, but does not effect the customized timing for each slide.

Again and again I am amazed about the versatility of this program. Thank you and your team for all your effort. It is highly appreciated.

  12. Tim,

I just read your post. I have only limited knowledge of PTE, but I like to experiment with all its features. My suggestion is that you split your presentation, open the 60 slides in one project with the respective music file and synchronize them in this project. Then you will start with a new project for the remaining 40 slides and will synchronize them with the respective music file.

Open the project that comes second, select all slides and then open the first project and paste the slides of the second project in the end. Don't forget to also add the music file for the second project.

I tried it today and it works. I know it is not the fastest way to do synchronization but that is all I know with regard to your question.

  13. I would appreciate some advice on an associated problem that I have. I am using a particular image numerous times in the same presentation. Each time I use it it has completely different animations but it has exactly the same name in the film strip.

Can anyone please suggest a way in which I can keep track of which slide in the sequence has which animation associated with it. My only solution so far is to keep an old fashioned hand written list of the slides!

    Peter

Peter, in O&A you can change or add anything to the name of the slide under the common tab.

  14. Since end of August 2006 I have been reading the posts in this forum. I am excited about PTE and the tools that it offers and of course I am looking forward to the final release of PTE 5.

Recently I started to surf the Internet for a projector. My main purpose will be to present slide shows produced by PTE v.5. A secondary purpose will be to watch DVDs. Can anyone tell me if the rainbow artifacts from a DLP projector will show up in a PTE v.5 slide show with PZR effects?
