  1. Barry, The video was a simple head and shoulder shot taken using an LG HD webcam connected to my desk top computer, the quality is excellent both on vision and sound, the recording produced a file of 54 mg.

  2. While using 8.12 I made a short sequence with a talking head video as a way of introduction, Inserted the video on position 1 in slide view followers by a blank then ten. Slides at 1024x768 size, no background sound at this point .

I then previewed from this point and found the lip sync of the video was way off ( played outside of P2e it plays fine ), the original video had a WMD extension so I ran it through the excellent video converter supplied and replaced the original with the converted copy, NO change.

I hope that one of our experts can come up with an answer or work around.

  3. Hi Tom

I use Camtasia Studio 8. Good news it captures the sound, bad news the picture quality is nowhere near as good as your Exe files.

    Regards Eric

    Yachtsman1.

    Hi! Eric,

Thanks for the idea, I have Camtasia 6 on disc but as yet no computer to load it onto,(I don't like to use P2e on this laptop),I'll give it a try when the Insurance company provide the cash.

    Hello Tomuk:

    One option:

You can run your application and capture PicturesToExe with a program like Camtasia (full screen capture). Then save the capture to the video format you want.

    Excuse my English

    Spock

Thanks Spock.I'm not to sure if Camtasia will capture the sound track tho?I'll let you know how I get on.

  5. Hi! All,

I wonder if any of you knowledgeable experts know of any software that will convert P2e exe. files to any video files.

I have recently had a bad experience,I have had my computer and external Hard drives stolen, all I have left are my exe. completed files that I saved to discs.

I now require them on mp4 video to post to Vimeo so I can share my work with other.

Hope somebody can help with a solution or work around.

    Tom.

  6. Thanks Guys,

Your replies have given me a lot to think about.

when you mentioned screen recording software I realised I had the solution on my main machine, it's "Camtasia Studio", I've tried it briefly but as with all software it requires the usual learning curve, results for first attempts are very encouraging.

    I'll report back later.

  7. There is a POSSIBLE lo-tech approach that might work.

My laptop has an s-video output.

My HDD DVD Recorder has an s-video input.

Theoretically I could connect the two and record the output from my laptop and convert it to DVD.

I haven't tried it - I don't know what the resulting quality would be. For all of my other inputs to the HDD Recorder there is no loss when recording at maximum quality so I would expect that a good result is possible.

    Hi! Dave,

If I required any form of video your suggestion is an excellent one,but I require a format that Pte will accept as a slide or object and at the time of writing, Pte doesn't support DVD into projects.( Igor are you reading).

My laptop and Sony dvd recorder both support Hdmi so the quality would be first class and Hdmi will carry the sound.

    Tom.

  8. Hi Tom,

In all probability, there is no software available to do that. Your best bet would be to have the PTE file then create your own MP4 from that. I'm assuming though that since you ask, you no longer have the PTE files for these available. There are lots of software packages to convert video to exe, but none that I'm aware of to reverse this.

It is "possible" to use screen capture software to capture the EXE and save it as video, but these are far from "good" quality and probably wouldn't be a very satisfactory solution.

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Hi! Lin,

You would think that somebody with my experience with using Pte would know better, I saved a lot of my project folders onto an external hard drive, then lost the hard drive (physically lost), lifted from my car while visiting a camera club. All I was left with was the Exe.files saved on disc.

I still have all the images from each of the shows of course but it means I have to reconstruct each sequence from scratch, but they won't be the same will they?

A hard lesson has been learned.

I think I already knew the answer you have given, I was just living in hope.

    Tom.

  9. Hi! All,

I've done a search and can't find an answer to my question so I've come here.....

My question is this...Does anybody know of any software out there that will convert Pte Exe.files to Video that Pte will accept into a project?

I have quite a collection of my sequences that I would like to creatively include into future projects but first They must be converted.

I would be most grateful for any help and suggestions.

    Tom.

  10. Tom,

I tried open the file from your 1st post in Media Player Classic HomeCinema and in GomPlayer. Both players don't recognize this video clip.

    Igor,

Thank you for replying, as you can see from my post above, my problem has been solved. I still don't understand why you couldn't open my Clip tho?.

    Tom.

  11. Hi Tom,

Did you link the correct video? The reason I asked is that there is no really good way to determine what the synchronization "should" be with a training video where there is no visible speaker to match the voice to. To determine synchronization accurately there needs to be visual and audio clues such as the mouth of a speaker to match to the audio. When you are just speaking off camera, about what is happening on camera there is no good way for an observer to calculate the degree of mis-synchronization.

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Lin,

    Thanks for replying so quickly.

If you have downloaded my file, please run it from your desktop and note when Photoshop opens up and the voice over to actions of the curser.

Now insert the file into P2e and run a fullscreen preveiw, note the difference.

Ralph, (The Hawk) has also sent me an e-mail, he down loaded my file, and run it through a programme called "Divx Plus Converter" this programme not only cured my problem but reduced the file size considarably thus helping P2e.

So my problem has been solved.

  12. Hi! Igor,

    Re my post # 272

I think I have solved my problem......... It appears that "Wait for a click of the mouse" is only available as an global setting in Project Options under the control tab,

In the customize Slide Tab, Only "Wait for a Key press to show next slide" is available.

As I use a wireless mouse to control my shows I would like the ability to set Mouse click in customize option to be available as most of the time I'm away from my computer and projector at the front of my audience, so heres hoping.

    Tom.

  13. Hi! Igor,

I'm not sure if this is a bug, it maybe something that hasn't been restored as this is only a beta (11) version but here goes, I only hope I can explain myself..........I have created a project in the following manner..... Opening slide containing objects ( scrolling titles and such) then a blank (using the insert blank feature) then video (mp4 created by P2e from one of my projects) then another blank then video etc:-. now comes my problem, I have customized each of the blanks with the command "wait for a click of the mouse", this works great but when I run a full screen preview all the videos also accept the right mouse click command, video stops and advances to the next blank and waits.. a right click and sequence advances to the next video.

I have created an exe file and the problem persists

    Tom.

  14. He already shows great promise and that natural ability can be cultured with training. I'm assuming he is already in a program because the moves he exhibits are not typical for untrained youngsters.

The capture was, with the exception of a bit of camera movement at the very early part of the video, very stable. It appears that PTE has done a fine job as have you for a first time use of video within the program.

    Best regards,

    Lin

    Hi! Lin,

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

You are correct on both accounts...... The camera shake was due to hand holding and I was required to switch on the music at the start, the remainder of the clip was hand held.

Yes ..Harvey has joined a gymnastics club, he started at the beginning of this year on the recommendation of his shool teacher, he now lives and breaths gymnastics.

  15. Hi! Lin,

Thank you for the above, I've had a look at all four of videos from Jean Claude Humblet and very

informative they were to, the one I found most useful was the one on volume envelopes, I now understand how to use it on the waveform within P2e, it will save me a lot of time with no back and too from sound editing applications.

It's late here now (22.50 hrs.) so I'll wait until tomorrow to have a play (you can do that when your retired) so its of to bed for me now.

  16. Hello again Ron,

No I haven't fell off the planet just yet.

As you know my health isn't all that good at the moment so I haven't been able to do to much, but this new version of our favourite software has inspired me to get creative once again.

I have one or two issues to get to grips with in this new version, I still haven't mastered the Audio editing tools yet, I'm still using Adobe Audition as I'm so familiar with it.

I have found a free Video converter on the net, (Any Video converter) by Anysoft, it's so easy to use,a couple of clicks and any format can be converted to a host of others. (see my post above).

    Dick.

Thank you for your suggestion, I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise so Movie maker has to be downloaded as you know, I have just done this and have yet to give it a test drive, I'll keep you appraised.

    Tom.

  17. Good Afternoon all,

I've downloaded the beta of V7 and have received and injection of creative juices,so much so that I'm now in need of Video editing software.

As we have an abundance of expertise on our membership list, I'm sure recommendations will soon be flooding in.

My immediate need is software that can cope with editing the sound track of Video that I've captured with my HD web-cam (as a WMV file).

I immediately discovered that P2e 7 doesn't like WMV files to much as they play with jerky movement and no lip sync at all.

I solved this problem by converting these clips to Mpeg 4 and the result is first class.

I have started making mgeg4 files, within P2e from all my sequence project files, to-date I have a collection of twenty, ten of these I have inserted into P2e as slides and seperated on the time line by a blank, this gave me a project size of 1.24gig.

I ran it as a preview and it flowed as smooth as silk, all object effects were as designed.

What I really need to move forward is the above software, so please be as quick as you can.

    Tom.

    THANK YOU IGOR AND TEAMbiggrin.gif

  18. Tom,

You didn't come back with an answer to whether your graphics (in your laptop) is dedicated or shared?

I would be interested in a full update on where you now stand on the range of topics discussed here in this thread?

    DG

    Good morning Dave,

I'm sorry that I haven't replied sooner but I haven't been to well of late.

Back to the subject in hand....

    First the Live Hum.

I have a couple of external hard drives that I use for storage, one a Buffalo, has 500 gig so I've decided to take your advise and produce MP4's that I save onto this drive, I then connect it to my TV via one of it's USB ports and play the MP4's works a treat and saved me £162.98 that i was going to spend at Amazon, thank you very much.

    Now to sound via Hdmi...

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5738g with a Nvidia G105m card with 512mg.

Heres what I have to do .....Go to control panel and click on the sound Icon.......right click on the HD Hdmi icon and set it as default, I now get sound from the laptop to the TV via the Hdmi cable.... when I disconnect from the Tv I reverse the above other wise I get no sound at my laptop,

Others tell me that when they connect, Hdmi is auto selected and on disconnection it reverts to internal speakers, this is what I was looking for.

    Tom.

  19. Dave

Go to control panel and choose sound, in the playback tab choose hdmi and set as default, sound from your sequences will be played through your Tv via the hdmi connection.

The only drawback as far as I can see is when you uncouple your computer from the tv you have to reverse the above by setting speakers as the default.

If the above doesn't work for you, you probably don't have a hdmi sound driver installed, in this case go to Microsoft's site and download the latest.

    Tom

PS, try right click in box and choose hidden devices, it maybe a hidden device.

  20. Dave, you will be one of the first to know.
