  1. Please vote what video card installed in your main PC where you work with PicturesToExe.

For ideally smooth Pan/Zoom/Rotate motion effects in 1280x1024 PicturesToExe will require something like NVIDIA Geforce 3/4 or ATI Radeon 8500/9000/9200 with 64 MB of video memory. CPU doesn't matter at all. Only good video card for fine Pan/Zoom/Rotate.

If you create usual slide-show without Pan/Zoom/Rotate effects, it should works fine even on Geforce 1 or 2 or ATI Radeon with 32 MB video memory and with any CPU, as I today tested. Additionally we plan to write special code for old video cards, so we think that PTE slide-shows without motion effect will work fine on any PC as earlier.

    Brian,

in another topic you suggested to keep v4.43 on the site as alternate version. Yes, we will keep it on the web site. But we also will try to make v5.00 suitable for wide range of PCs. (Maybe only except of Pentium II/III 400-500 MHz and earlier.)

We're trying to keep PTE as simple and reliable product. v5.00 will look exactly as earlier, same 1,5 MB, very small EXE slide-show engine (even smaller than earlier) and fast work.

It's very important for us to hear your opinion concerning any changes in PicturesToExe and we open and ready for discussion (and add some changes, if it necessary).

p.s. when we added Fade effect 4,5 year ago, it worked ideally only on top-end PCs (Pentium III 1000-1500 Hz). Now almost every slide-show uses this effect and it works fine.

  2. Luminlux:

I notice that the Free version is "Temporarlly unavailable" and do not know why. As to why you never received a serial number you might email Ronnie at

r.kroonenberg2@chello.nl . Ronnie has been very good at replying to questions regarding his Picture Cooler program.

Hope you get squared away with this. I really think it's one of the best de-noiser programs available.

  3. Bill:

Glad it worked for you and I think you'll find that the more you use it the better it gets. By the way.... this program is new and you should check web site for updates as there have been many improvements. I think Ronnie is aiming towards a photoshop plug-in (this may not be a Freebee)

  4. Bill:

I have no idea why Picture Cooler did not run for you as I have had no problems running it using Windows XP ??? If you drop the author of the program an email maybe he can come up with a solution.

    xraz_mn@fastmail.fm.

Hope you can get it going as it is really a great program.

  5. For those that may not be aware of a great new "Denoise ++" program (Picture Cooler) that's getting a lot of praise on other forums, I would suggest you visit this web site and give this program a try. OH.. and the price is right.. FREE.

  6. Hi Gang:

I have been using P2exe for a long time and more than pleased with this great program that Igor keeps improving over and over. I have created many CD shows to be viewd on a PC monitor and marvel at the sharpness of the presentations.

Well, I finally installed a DVD burner and burned my first slide show. I used Movie Factory 2 and selected MP3 format. Maybe I was expecting too much but... Two obvious observions.. the show was now where as sharp as the CDs and if you stand close to the TV there is a sort of flickering (best I can discribe it). If I stand further away from the TV the pix seems somewhat better but not that much.

I figure that I'm doing something wrong and wonder if anyone else has this problem?? Store-bought DVDs play great and the CD shows are really great. Any help will be appreciated... thanks

  7. Thought I had all the answers

My new dvd burner should arrive Tuesday and I find that I have just one more questions for the "Techs"

DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and so on!! What should I get?? I want the best results when it comes to P2exe shows and I want to back-up my Hard drive as well. I have programs such as P2exe, Photoshop etc. that I want to back-up on DVD.

    thanks once again in advance..

  8. PhotoCD I'm back...

Just checked in to Nec 3520A and find a good price $62.00 US. This is an OEM with no cables or software.

Question... will I have to purchase cables and software or is it possible to use the cables etc. on present CD drive? Will the drivers be in Windows XP or do I need installation software?

Hate to use up bandwidth with all these questions but when I read some of these DVD forums the chat is way over my head.

    Thanks............. Bob..

  9. Wow!! thanks for all the advice. I simply want to replace the existing CD burner with a DVD burner so hopefully it will be as simple as hooking up to the same cables and jacks as the Cd drive. Now I'll place an order for a DVD drive.

If you guys have any suggestions as to a paticular drive please jump in. My main concerns are to put P2exe shows on DVD that can be viewed on any home TV, copy CDs and back-up some data from my "C" drive. I know there are many different software packages out there but I would like to think the supplied software will do the trick.

thanks again for all your help.

    Bob..

  10. Ken:

Thanks for your speedy reply. I don't see any reason to keep the original CD drive as I understand that the new DVD drives are actually faster when it comes to burning CDs. I will check out the supplied software and if it doesn't allow burning to DVD I'll be back asking more questions.

  11. Hi:

I'm planning to replace my CD burner with a DVD burner so... Is it as simple as removing the CD drive and noting where the hookup wires are, then attaching the DVD wires to the same position as the CD then install the software and let Xp find a new piece of hardware?? tell me "That's all there is to it" or are there pitfalls that could hinder the installation.

thanks in advance... I'm anxious to put a show on DVD and view it on the TV.

  12. Hi Y'all:

I am planning to purchase a DVD burner with intentions of creating some slide shows with P2exe. I was looking at a NEC 3500 A OEM with software. The software is listed as Roxio Easy Media Creator. The whole package is about $65.00. Any opinions about this burner and software?? also..

Can I use this burner to back up the programs on my hard drive? I hope to get a Lap top sometime in the future and would like to be able to move programs such as P2exe, Qimage and others to a DVD and then be able to load them on new machine.

Thanks in advance for any opinions or suggestions.

  13. Boxig, DavG and guru:

Thanks for responce to my autorun problem. I still have no idea what caused the problem in the first place and I really am not sure how it was resolved??? BUT.... I'm back in business!!

I took DaveG's advice and saved the show under a new name and then in the notebook created a new autorun file using a new project name. I burned the CD and all ran OK.. The thing that bothers me is the new autorun file looks exactly the same as the first one except for the project name change and I notice that the autorun file lable is not the same as the one that gave me the trouble. The first one was labled autorun.inf and the new one is labled autorun .. sooooo.. what ever... let me say thanks for your assistance and even though I'm bewildered, I'm happy to be off the wall

    Bob..

  14. and also making a lot of coasters!

    I have created a slide show, Favorites.exe and a autorun.inf file

    [autorun]

    open=Favorites.exe

I have burned a CD, as I have many times before and when I insert it in CD drive instead of running auto I get a screen showing both files... the autorun.inf and the Favorites.exe. If I click on the Favorites.exe the show runs as expected.

I'm sure that I must be making a simple mistake but for the life of me..

Is there a way to check the project name in the created exe file??

Any help wil be more than welcome.

    TIA Bob..
