Use IPTC Caption field

I could not find the answer to the question searching in the forum

I would like to automatically add to each picture of a slide show the IPTC caption field. I believe it cannot be done via the &caption or similar tokens one can find in other programs and that this is a capability which is due for a future release. Is there any workaround available?

thank you for your help, michel

Welcome to the world of PTE A-Vs and the user forum Michel, you will find lots of help and advice here.

If you are looking for how to automatically add the Exif.Description field go to Project Options then select the Comments tab.

At the bottom of this tab there is a area to Set Text Comments for New Slides, here left click on the document icon on the right of the comments field.

This will bring up a pick list of options from which you can select JPEG EXIF Description.

Click on Set for Existing Slides if you wish to add it to the slides already in the show.

It you wish you can then move the fields position, resize it, change colour, change font etc in the O&A screen.

PS

If you haven't already done so Michel you can download the PTE User Guide from here:

It is well worth it!!

Hi Michael,

IPTC data isn't supported but "some" EXIF data is. Unfortunately I have not been able to get EXIF "Comments" to work. Date and image name work as well at path, etc., but EXIF "comments" doesn't work for me. Perhaps Igor may shed more light on this.

Best regards,

Lin

Thank you for your answers. I was unaware of the EXIF comment field.

I use Lightroom to select the pictures that i want to keep, to which i will add some information in the title & comment field.

In the end, i export the picture i want to use with PTE.

However, i am afraid that the field that is modified via lightroom is the IPTC field, which is i believe the more common way.

Hence support evetually of some of the IPTC fields would be very nice.
