  1. To all who know more than I about PtE and Video-Transfer Using PtE since about two years, using the programm for slide-shows containing sound or not, I was always amazed, how good pictures and transitions between the slides come out, when called up as *.exe file on the computer. Finding out, that meanwhile transition to DVD-video-file is possible and registering, that more and more people use DVD-Players together with their TV, I bought DVD-Writer for my PC, Software to play DVD’s on the computer and a DVD-Player for my TV - so hoping to let my friends, who don’t like computers, but allways are sitting before a TV-Screen, see my wonderfull slide-shows. It is a pitty, until now I did not succed to transfer PtE-slideshows to a DVD, which matches properly to the new DVD-Player besides my TV. I use Pinnacle Studio 9 to burn the AVI-File out of PtE to DVD I succedet in: DVD’s which I can start on my computer with Cyberlink Power- DVD, but not start in the DVD-Player at the TV The DVD’s which are played on the computer - have picture quality much under the standard of PtE-EXE files - sometimes the sharpnes of the Picture changes just before the transition to the next picture - music, connected with some pictures within a picture show, is obviously lost in the AVI-transfer by PtE - sometimes a certain picture, which is placed in the list of picture very much later, is often shown, very short, much to early, but, at the right place also. Maybe, I have somewhere in the various setup-screens of PtE or Pinnnacle-Studio made a wrong hook on the wrong place. Looking often into the forum, one recognizes that lots of PtE users fight with the reality of the wonderful programm. Someone should write a manual How to transfer a PtE Slideshow Including Sound to TV-DVD. I keep on trying, but it is anoying to see how many DVD’s are burned as thrash. So I am thankfull for each hint, especially how to include audio tracks of PtE into DVD’s before such a handbook will be made. Walter
  2. Hello, you PTE-users all, Nowhere in read-files oder tutorials I can find datailed Information to the funktion “Run external application” in Customize Slide. Obviously the user can only choose the “Advanced option” “Run external application” only to a selected Slide, not to an empty Slide. As PTE still has problems with sound, fitting exactly to the time for groups of slides, I had the idea to try to build a slide show from more than one PTE- *.exe’s, having three or four *.exe’s, each having a own background-sound which can be made to fit into the slide time. (That ist the solution DOS-programmers formerly used with batch-files) As a PTE- *.exe file is a “application” and as *.exe’s are called applications, I tried to call up a PTE2.exe from the last Slide of PTE1.exe and PTE3.exe from the last Slide of PTE2 and so on. This does not work properly, only one or two Slides of the called up File are sometimes shown Can anyone of you give me hints how to use “Run external application”? Thank you! Walter
  3. Hi you all, I have the same Problem paulstaff reported on Oct 9 2004, after trying to produce a SVCD (with a trial version of Ulead DVD MovieFactory2) out of a otherwise fine working PTE x.exe, which contains a piece of music over some slides in the middle of the slide-show. All slides are ok on the screen, no sound appears. So I am also very interested to know the reason and how to transfer the computer-show to tv-show containing the sound. Walter
  4. Hello Alrobin, question to you: What do you exactly mean, when you say "image editor"? A normal slide (or picture) showing text with the font, one wants to use, as I suppose? I don't recognise another "image" editor in PTE. Am I right? Walter
  5. Thank's to nobeefstu and everybody, who tried to help me ! I found the reason: the directory to which I tried to save, was full, wenn 42% of the *.exe file was created Anyway, PTE-users should register, that there is no windows-hint to lack of drive-space in this case! Walter
  6. Help!, PTE does not like my order After producing 3-4 slide shows with PTE without problems (except beeing not able to place pictures of a size, I like to have, into the objekt-editor), I have today the following fault: When making an *.exe file with the Name “Uhrig800600.exe” under File/Create Slideshow As, I get after a few seconds a screen saying: “Stream write error” I registrate, that an *.exe file Uhrig800600.exe is aktually made, but smaller as it should be (~195.500 KB instead of ~ 439500 KB). When I start this *.exe-file, I get a screen, saying “Exception EL ist Error in module Uhrig800600.exe at 0007146E. List index out of bounds (0)" What hat happened, what can I do ? Walter

  8. Hello Al, Thank you for your very fast answer – and thank you particularly for the hint, to uncheck “Set comments for all slides as” in Project Options/Comments. This really seems to save comments, when changing Project-Options. Until now I did not succeed with the Object-Editor, calling pictures to place them on the screen. In my PTE those Pictures come up very big, filling the screen nearly at all and hiding so everything beneath. This happens with normal pictures (~ 4/6”) and with extra small Pictures (~ 1/1,5”) as well and always, if I choose full screen mode or windowed mode (with or without borders) and “fit to screen” checked or unchecked. (I suppose there is another Windows-trap somewhere in the Options-Screens I did’nt recognise so far. Maybe you can help me, finding the trap) In this connection: width and height in Project Options/Screen is that Pixel or mm or what? One more question, being a new member in your forum, not yet accustomed to all english computer-freak language-terms: what does “Re” mean (you wrote: “Re the customized text comments …) I found “Re” used by other members too. Walter

  10. Picture-slides, space for comments The PTE-forum is a really lively one. Congratulations! The Members give a lot of hints to programmers to improve the really fine program. (And programmers actually seem to read such contributions to the forum – great!). So do I today, as a new member: 1. As many people don’t have a sound-card in their computer yet, I like to use underlined or side-lined text-comments to my slides. This is sometimes difficult: the picture is to big, not enough space beneath the picture, not enough space above or aside the picture. I am not able to either make a (single) picture smaller or move it to a lower or higher (or left or right) position on the screen, providing some more space for the text-comment. 2. There is another problem, the fact, that obviously near all later changes under the project-options-button (at least %- picture to 100%-screen or entering a *.wav-file) destroy all text-comments, changing them to file-name and so destroy all the text-work already done. So I contribute the following ideas (wishes) for next updates of PTE: possibility to change picture-size (under customize-button) possibility to change position of picture on the screen (unter customize-button) changing the demolition of ready text-work on slides, when changing a option. Walter
