  1. Barry, Just magnificent!! I'll be making sure others in my family watch this. It is a great explanation of why

we have to post-process to get the scene that we saw represented on the computer screen or in print.

Really excellent photographs that complement your narrative extremely well. Congratulations on an exceptional slideshow.

    Regards, Alan

  2. I am one of the 'silent majority'; one of Brian's Group B.

I enjoy the forum and the great advice provided there by the 'expert' PTE users. Brian, in particular,

can be counted on for reasoned and informed discussion. I think that the addition of some simple

controls over audio tracks would be a welcome feature. Especially, the ability to fade a track at the

end of a slide show. People who require this facility can use it, others can just ignore it.

    Cheers, Alantha

  3. Apologies if this has been covered before; I can't find any topics on this problem.

I create a DVD with menu and multiple sequences. This DVD plays correctly on my PC using PowerDVD.

When I put the DVD into my Sony DVD recorder connnected to my TV, the menu does not appear and

the first sequence runs - and that's all. I cannot get the menu to appear, so can play only the one sequence.

Commercial DVDs play fine, on both PC and DVD player.

The contents of my DVD, and commercial DVDs, appear to be similar. I have tried recordable DVDs and RW DVDs.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

  4. As reported before, using Windows Vista I can create only one video before subsequent attempts result in "Video Builder"

producing no progress bars, and having to be cancelled from the Task Manager. After un-installing 5.6 beta2 and then re-installing

it, I can create another video file successfully (but one only).

I have installed PTE 5.6 Beta 2 on my laptop (Windows XP Pro) and am able to create videos without problems (so far)

    using the same .pte files.

Not sure that this proves anything, but it sure points to it being a Vista-related problem of some kind.

  5. Probably about to add more confusion, but...

Installed 5.6 Beta2 and then successfully created MPeg4 file for iPod. Tried a second show but video creation step

just sat with empty screen (no progress bars), and had to be closed via Task Manager.

Uninstalled 5.6 Beta 2, then re-installed. Ran create video for show 2 (that failed before), and MPEG4 file created OK.

To summarize; I can only create one MPEG4 file successfully, then have to uninstal and re-install 5.6 Beta2.

I can repeat these actions for additional shows; i.e. one success per program install!!

I hope this is reasonably clear to understand.

    Am running Vista Business version.

  6. Uh Oh! I replied too soon. The successful show was only 77seconds long. A second show over 3 minutes

failed to produce an MPEG4 file. I reduced this second show to 2min 42 secs and still no video produced.

(Using Beta 2, BTW, and runnig Vista Business edition)

I am retiring from the fray, scrathing my head!

  7. Hi,

I just posted two new tutorials and explanations on music/sound use with PTE here:

    http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7901

Go to the bottom of the pinned topic: PTE Made Easy (PTE for Smarties) and click on links to download zipped AVI Tutorials.

Just a brief note to express my thanks to Lin for the time and effort he puts into these tutorials (and also, all the expert advice he provides).

It is greatly appreciated, I'm sure, by the many 'silent' users of this great prodcut.

  8. Hi Alan,

I enjoyed your slide show very much. Very nice photos, excellently presented.

The music was a good fit too.

I agree with Michel about the ending. Very abrupt. Perhaps a final slide saying

"The End" and slowly fading would work, or repeat the credits?

Also, while I liked the mermaid and anchor, they did intrude somewhat over the

    fine photographs.

    Overall, excellent!

  9. I have found that you should have your PTE exe and flash-related folders all in the same directory ( as you appear to have), but when entering the path information in PTE you should use the following :-

    .\flashfolder1\flashme.exe

.\flashfolder2\flashme.exe (if you have a second SWF file)

Do not use the PTE browser to locate the flashme exe, as the full path is entered.

    I hope this makes sense!

    Cheers, Alan

  10. G'day all. I'm new to P2E, so this may already have been answered!

Are the fonts (I use in objects) embedded in the resultant EXE file, or do

they have to be resident on the system that runs the EXE?

    Thanks for your advice. Alan.
