  1. Thanks Alrobin ! You were spot on ! It was a faulty file that got corrupted when my friend burned other information on to her CD -RW Just posting so that others can learn from my mistakes. Make a clean copy on to a clean CD- RW and it works perfectly as a standalone file. It does not need the images or the .pte file either ( confirming what you were saying earlier) I know have a happy friend, a little less anxious about her 'big day'.......Praise God ! Thankyou guys Barry
  2. Hi Ian, I just used the programme to make a slide show for a wedding of my two friends. It is going to be used for after dinner and it shows them from a young age to the present. There are 3 songs in the background and are synchronised ( I got alot of help from the guys on the forum) I don't do any wedding 'stuff' but it seems to me to be an excellent option. I gathered all my images into one folder and used a 'droplet' in photoshop to optimise the folder for the web. IF you have photoshop there are droplets made already that do this within the adobe folder. You just drag you folder with images on to the droplet and every image in the folder is automatically 'processed' according to the functions set in the droplet. If the images are optimised for the web, they are useless for printing anyway as they are very low in resolution I also had the images in order by number (1.jpg, 2.jpg). You can use the 'comment' field in the pte program to label or reference you pics If your able you could record some of your own music on to your PC and use some free package to convert to mp3 or .wav Overall, it looks quite possible...........it just takes some hard work ! I hope it goes well for you Regards Barry
  3. Hi Guys, I have tried the method above and still no joy ! I have discovered a few things though. 1.It runs fine on XP and Win 98 operating ststems on workstations 2. ON the two laptops we have tried, it does not work at allv !! I thing the problem could be something to do witht he laptops ?? Confused but hopeful Barry
  4. Thanks to Ken and Alrobin for your replies, I have the file on her desktop, I just copied and pasted it from the cd to the desktop. I then double clicked on the file (*.exe) and the black dos screen popped up. This is what I am going to do next: 1. Open up her browser (Explorer) 2. Open file from browser Do you think this will work Lads ? Thanks Barry
  5. Hans, IT seems that you are on the right track ! Where exactly is this choice given in the 'pictures to exe' or are you talking about windows XP ? The .exe file I created runs fine on one of my friend's PC but does not run at all on her Laptop........instead what shows up is a DOS window with a plain black screen. Do I have to put the *.exe file + the .pte file + the images and music together in the same directory for this to work. It defeats the purpose of the standalone file ! I know I am close to getting this sorted Any more info and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, BArry
  6. Hi Guys, I appreciate your response. So far I know it is a Laptop (hewlett packard) bought this Christmas and she is using XP I have asked her for some more details about how she is attempting to play the file. Thanks Again, Barry
  7. Hi Guys, Nice to have some support here at the forum. I managed to create and run successfully my slide show on my own PC but I gave it to a friend, he could not run the .exe file on his laptop. I asked him what o/s he is using and he said windows xp. What are the reasons for this happening.............my guess is that it could be something to do with the Operating System ? What are my options ? Thankyou again, Barry
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks for your great replies. It has worked !.............somewhere along the line, I had attached one of the music mp3's to one slide and I could not understand where the error was coming from, but now, I am a little bit 'wiser' because of your help. I really appreciate it...May our creator Bless you indeed ! Barry
  9. Hi d67, Thanks for your reply. To be honest, I did not understand your answer. I'm not familiar with the new terminology. I can now play 3 songs in the background whilst 'sliding' through 250 pics but I can't (don't know how) to assign 'x' number of pics per song. Sincerely Barry
  10. Hi Everyone Can you please help me with an error message I am getting when I try to create a .exe file with pte. I have 3 songs playing in the background of a slide show. I was trying to use the 'customize synchronization' to assign slides to the music etc etc but when I go to preview or create, I get the following message. 'you should disable personalised music of slides to activate synchronization by music' There is probably something simple that I am doing wrong but I'm pretty confused ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Barry
