Thanks bharkins, I had a feeling it was OK, (Spa doesn't open, because of no link, this is just a demo to show the format) But are you on a mac or pc? Now this begs the question of why my client can't open the show. Steve... The G4 is the machine my client is trying to open the demo show on. I created it on a win XP platform. I added the (G4) info in case it may matter on why he can't open it. I have no mac experience. As far as your other ?, there isn't much that can go wrong trying to open a P2E show, You click on the file to open the show and it works or doesn't. I asked him what happen when he opened it and he said he just got an "application error". I have gotten this same error on a few shows I've downloaded from the forum, but they all were zipped files, this is not. All the reg P2E files always opened for me. Since now I know the file is not corrupted, I would still like to hear any possible idea's on why it may not be opening for him. Thanks again, Dave

Hi Guys, I sent a client a link to a demo show (on a mac G4) and when he try's to open it he gets an application error. I can open it fine. I actually uploaded the show twice and he could not open either of the two. Would someone be kind enough to download it to check and see if it will open or something is corrupted. It's at: www.digitalphotocrafters.com/Charlie1.exe Thanks, Dave

Sorry Guys, I did leave the music running. The show goes for another 80+ images. I promise to post the whole show in a few days when it's totally done. I can't leave "ronwil" with just "puckering" on his screen and "alrobin" has to see the 5 star leg & garter shot! I just wanted to be sure running 3500 on my trans speed was OK. It seemed to be OK to me running on a old P3 766, but after you look at a show for a 100 times, you lose it to some degree. Allan, this is very interesting. You made three points that I'd like to here more on. If you or anyone else can elaborate on them it would be great. Thanx, Dave

Hi Guy's and Gal's, Got a Q on transitions. I thought they were just a simple pick one and be done. How wrong! First on the list is the thickness of the smoothing line. Haven't gone there yet because I'm killing myself trying to get the trans speed right. I didn't look everywhere, but haven't seen anything to explain this option much at all. If anyone can point me in the right direction or comment, I'd appericate it greatly. Back to the trans speed, after my 20th rev. I'm still not happy on the right speed. I am happy with my smaller images at 1500 transing OK but on my full screen images, they are too fast at 2000/2500 but appear pretty good at 3500. Problem is this seems to be good but too slow and still not always perfect. It may be that the images vary too much in there size format from one to another. I know this is not answerable without seeing the show, so here's a link if you care to view and comment: http://www.delphiwebhosting.com/kari_PtE.exe. It's a trunkcated version of the full wedding show I listed previous with many revisions. Most all of the larger images are set at 3500 on the trans. The smaller ones run at 1500. I changed the PtE ini file adding both options suggested. Look forward to hearing from you. Dave

Hi Roger, Thanks for the quick and too kind reply. For you, myself and others, (where's Irene?) here are my thoughts to your reply. I like the small picture build up too, but actually cut 5-6 of them because although they look OK on computers, I did a 10 slide trial for normal TV and they blurr out. I even get depressed on the big ones. Can't wait till everyone's on HD. On your #1: I thought the last slide had the quick end, must have missed that, too many re-do's. But I also did it without cutting the last song and let it run for 1 minute. Not good for web viewing but how about for family TV viewing, gives you an image and music to see while talking about the show? Just a thought. I kinda liked it? This is still a work in progress. I didn't work too hard on the ending yet and do agree for the customer, has to have a final page of a text record or other montage at least. #2 I agree, the fades are usually the 95% staple to go with that I like. I've been changing this show so much and may have left 4-5 others in that I should not have. Igor should have a default to fade. #3 I agree and I thought I mentioned I was doing a print album too so didn't do a max save for web to reduce in PS. Two questions to go with that reply though; Does it make any difference to the people on bigger than 1024 settings when they view the show at this setting or does it just resize accordingly? When in PS and you do a save for web, I have not studied PS enough to know what effect doing the save at max, very high or high have on the quality of the image being viewed. I have a hard time seeing any difference between any of them, so I always go for at least very high to be safe. And more important does that affect veiwing quality on the AVI at all? Thanks in advance for your support. dave

Well Guy's...need some guidance on what's appealing and what's not. My 1st show at http://www.delphiwebhosting.com/kari.exe Sorry for the big downoad size. Doing both a s/s and album for print from same images. Look forward to both your kind and butal comments! dave

I've enjoyed 5 or so shows from the forum page but the last two,"Venise" and "Vie" were zipped and my "it ought to be stuffed" program gives me a "list index out of bounds" error message when it expands the file. Anyone run into any problems trying to open this shows? -dave

Sure is something amiss. I just did a 116 side show with 10mins of music and an avge image size of 500k. It totalled 66meg. Think Ken is right they can't be compressed at that size. Dave

Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply, and I second the request for more info. I'm a photo guy and have never done anything with music ( mp3 or others). Now in trying to do a good slide show it's a must to have with the images. You mentioned stitching and I think I need to do that. My second song of three delays about a sec or two too long before starting. Just the way I got it but it needs to chopped to start faster. Can I do this in P2E by overlaying it more in the music option, or do I need to use another program to edit the music first and put it all on one track? Since I'm just getting into playing around with the music side of things, what program works good to do editing and stitching with music files? Many thanks in advance for your (or others) in replying!

Hi Guy's, I got it now, add more slides, you have to change the music trans point. I forgot I checked the sync box. Simple! But the only thing I don't get yet is Mike said add a new trans point for each new slide. But that would seem wrong if you want to carry through the music till the end of the show. Have'nt tried it yet but I would think that would drag the show out for each new slide added. Correct? So if I understand the program correctly now, just change the trans point to include all the new slides and we're golden? -Dave

I've tried to do DVD's different ways and the quality has always been so-so. So for my benifit and all the other newbie's can you Pro's give us a hand? Please feel free to respond to just one or more of the questions. Starting at the beginning, Let's go for burning a DVD at Mpeg 2 @720x540. Goal, get the best possible DVD quality of our slide show possible....period. Q1: What resolution is best to set the photo slides at: is 72dpi, (same as computer) OK or better to go to 120 or higher? I've done 11" x 17" pic's at 180dpi and see no real difference than set at 72DPI. Does image size matter? Q2: When I do slides at a small size, say 2"x3" they look fine on the computer but real bad on DVD playback, but even the full screen slides are still not great but are almost acceptable. Do smaller slide pic's have to be treated differently? Q3: Time to Burn... I read some other posts here on the best way to burn, using different methods. But haven't seen any agreement. What's produced the very best results for you? Q4: I'm using "Sonic MY DVD" (which has beening rated good on quality) but am not happy with the DVD playback. It's just so-so. The quality is not even close to my computer playback. I was able to use P2E's AVI file imported to Sony Screenblaster then burn MPEG2 to Sonic. REsult's...OK, but laking anything close to my computer clarity. When I try to import P2E ( as a custom avi or other) directly to "My DVD" it crashes. Anyone have any experience on this? It just doesn't like the AVI file for some reason. Thanks in advance to all you good people! -Dave

Hi Dave If you are (as I am assuming) using sync mode you need to add transition points to the appropriate places in the time line when you add new slides to the list. They are not added automatically. So if you add ten slides to the end of the show after slide 118 you need to go to slide 118 in the time line and add ten more transition points where you want the slides to appear. Igor is (I believe) working on improving this area now (or soon). Hope this helps Hi Mike, Thanks, but I guess I don't understand how the transition points work. You say I need to add one for each added slide? What is the difference between just adding one new one changing it from the 118 slide to 128 to include them all vs a new transition at 119,120 ect.? -Dave

That was it! I had a transiton set at 118 in the custom synch and after adding more slides I didn't add a new transition point. I quess that's what it was. I have 3 songs to play in the show. If I set 3 trans points will it then adjust timing of the slides accordingly to each trans point seperately rather than the whole show? Thanks, Dave

I just created my first show with PTE and when I run it, it locks up on slide 118. I cannot get it to go past it. I can delete slides and add new ones but still stops at 118 no matter if there's 119 or 125 slides in the show. File size is 69.8mb and is playing with music, which keeps playing even though the slides have stopped. Any ideas anyone? -Dave
