  1. Hello everyone I was thinking of buying Ulead Factory Movie maker to convert my sequences to DVD. Has anyone got this? What do they think? Any idea which version to get. Just the oldest and cheapest I can find or is version 4 worth going for? jeanie
  2. hello all I thought I might have a go at turning my CD shows into DVD. I've watched one or two tutorials but I'm not sure whether I need to have a software such as Ulead factory 2. I have a DVD burner already. Does this software Ulead or the alternative Movie Factory do somthing different? If so what? thanks in advance jeanie
  3. Hello all I have begun using PTE to create a 'talk type' presentation, (using Photoshop to create text on slides)This seems to be a time consuming business and I am wondering what is the great advantage over simply using Powerpoint. Has anybody got some good tips to ease the work or tips that give a real zing over a powerpoint presentation. After all its only type thats fading from one to the next. thanks jeanie
  4. Hello Ron Yes I have contacted Brian and he has replied. At the moment he is having trouble with his computer which caught a virus. At the moment he is putting a new one together. So it may take a bit of time before he can get to this. As I told him I do not do my presentation until May24th. so I have some time to spare. If I don't put the two sections of the presentation together it won't be a disaster. It will be useful to know for the future though and I'm always interested in what PTE can do. I really didn't know you could contol it like this and it is great! thanks for your interest jeanie
  5. Hi all Well thanks for that info. I just tried it out and it works just great.!! But I'm still wondering how do I get from the controlled part of the presentation to the audio visual auto show? Do I create two separate projects? Also I wish I could find Cornflow's manual on the manual slideshow that was mentioned Thanks for all help, its just really helpful, hope i'm not too much of a pain with all my questions. By the way I'm going to Southport on Saturday to see the Royal Photographic audio visual distinction day. should be a wonderful day. jeanie
  6. hello again, everybody, following on from my last topic I was supprised to be told that I could use PTE almost as a slide show presentation. I have never used it in this way before as I was unaware you could control it. Stop and start pause etc. while you spoke about each slide. Is this what was being said or have I misunderstood? If this is true could anyone tell me how they would use PTE to give a slide presentation in this way Thanks in advance jeanie
  7. Hello again, Perhaps I had better explain what I am doing. For my college course work I have to give a presentation in my Professional Practice module. I am using the power-point slide show to present my business plan to the tutors. Alot of this is text and some graphs. I the was thinking I could go staight into the PTE sequence to demonstate the kind if work I have been doing. I thought it might look sleeker than finishing and then running the sequence separately. From what some say it seems possible. I'll give it a try. Any other ideas welcome. What do you think ? Jeanie
  8. Hello everyone I will be giving a powerpoint presentation and I was wondering if I can put a PTE slide sequence to run from there. Or will I have to complete the powerpoint presentation and then show PTE separately? Thanks in advance Jeanie.
  9. hello everyone So far I have been adding slides to my music one at a time and customising them individually. I now would like to fade this piece of music out and bring in a different piece. If I could see how much of the music I have used I could go and edit my music to fade in and out at this point. I have not used the time line yet to place slides in on the fly. Is this the only way of seeing how much music i have used for the slides placed in so far? thanks in advance jeanie

  11. Well, hello all, thanks for all your responses. Ron, to explain more what I'm wanting to do. As part of my photography degree course we have a module called professional practice. We have to make a business plan, part of which involves showing how you would market your product or services. Since I enjoy playing with PTE (made a few and watched alot) and loving the whole experince. , I thought my way forward might involve doing work involving creating slideshows. To demonstrate the marketing of ourselves we must produce a website. On the website one would like to show ones work. This is were the tutor's suggestion of using Flash comes in I know little about it,so to go that way would involve a big leaning curve. Since I like the PTE software I am loath to change to something else, and I know some of the best work I've seen is done using it eg. Barry Beckham. I guess my question was raised to give me some good justification for not having to change. The suggestion by Keffs of using an encoder which converts the exe. file to Flash sounds like a possible answer. Has anyone done this with their show and how did it turn out?
  12. hello everyone when I was discussing a future project for my college course I told my tutor I was going to use PTE. He does not Know much about it really. He suggeted however that the way forward, with the internet, and showing people what you were doing, or for them to download your work, was to work using Flash. He suggested this was the 'professional'way. Before I start trying to find out all about this can anyone knowledgable here tell me whether this is an alternative route or whether we are at cross purposes. thanks in advance jeanie
  13. hello again yes, so now its working! I should explain, I am going to build my own website and I would like to include within it a PTE show. I want to be able to take 'the little hand' over an opening image and click on it to bring the show to life.If it is too difficult to explain here can someone point me to where i can find the information. I know you can put video shows into a web site so presume you can do this also. jeanie
  14. hello all can someone tell me if I can put a small PTE show on the web and if so how. jeanie
  15. Hello As a follow up can I just say that I used Alto MP3 Maker to extract my music files from a CD. I then imported them into Audacity to join the tracks together and put in silences and fades in and out. The problem then came when I tried to export them out as MP3 files. The following message came up. Audacity does not export MP3 files directly, but instead uses the freely available LAME library to handle MP3 files encoding. You must first obtain lame-enc.dll separately by downloading the LAME MP3 encoder, and then locate this file for Audacity. You only do this once. So I have downloded this onto my worktop. What next?? jeanie. I thought this was all going too smoothly
