Hi Big kev, I'm no expert, however if the posts above don't fix your problem I guess you are looking at alternative software to transcode and write to your DVD burner. I recently purchased Sonics My DVD Studio Deluxe 6.1 which does the trick although at £75 I thought it a bit steep. There are bound to be other software packages that do the business, prior to my last purchase I used PowerProducer Gold with reasonable results, this software came with my burner. Another link you might want to try at $40 or thereabouts, is www.realconvert.com, but I can't vouch for this shareware product. Regards, TC

Brian, I'm no expert but I have a view that may be of some value in resolving your problem, however, I do not wish to insult your intelligence by stating what you may consider to be the obvious. I presume you know of the different formats of DVD disks and that some machines (new machines) can play almost all variants, whilst the older generation machines are somewhat more choosy. How old are the two machines that you have tried? I too experienced similar problems to yours and seem to have overcome the "rejected" disk syndrome by using different software. Recently I purchased Sonic's "My DVD Studio Deluxe" and have managed to play the (newly recorded) disks in my machines that previously returned error messages. Hope this helps. Regards, Trev C

Jack, No doubt you'll get an expert to respond soon, but in the meantime, this novice suggests you use Audacity, a free bit of software that is downloadable from the web. You can record your voice on an audio track and then time your slide show to your voice recording. Hope this helps until an expert reads your post. Regards, TC

Rod, Hope I don't add to your confusion, however, when using Photoshop you must use layers and save each pic as a jpg and save the layered Photoshop project as a psd. For instance, a frame that you produce using the "Stroke" command, under the "Edit" menu should be combined and placed over your other pics and then saved as a jpg. You build up the psd file gradually by importing each jpg file into the psd file as a separate layer. Obviously for a large slideshow there will be lots of pics, so I suggest you save the psd file as "Titles", and then "Part 1" then "Part 2" and so on. You only bring the resultant jpg files into PTE to make the slideshow. Hope this helps. Regards, TC

This is the first of your slideshows that I have viewed....what a treat, excellent composition and I was enthralled with the birdsong that seemed to continue right through the show. Shelley, What are you trying to do? Are you trying to create a Video disc that will play on some DVD players, or are you just trying to create a PTE show that will play on a computer? Without a DVD burner, you can create a video disc that will play on some (not all) DVD Players, it usually gives some indication on the front of the machine e.g. "Suitable for VCD, SVCD". The difference between VCD and SVCD is quite marked in terms of the quality of the playback, believe me VCD is not worth bothering with whereas SVCD is better although not at the high standard of DVD. There's another question here as well, is your TV standard NTSC (USA/Canada) or PAL (Europe)? If you are just trying to burn a PTE Slideshow then you just select "Create" and then copy the resultant PTE.EXE show to a CD. I'm not an expert by the way, but I hope the info helps. Nettleton, May I suggest that if you haven't done so already, pay a visit to www.beechbrook.com, click on the PTE Shows button and search the pages for "Create Slideshow" and then download. You will need a fast modem by the way for all of these shows as they are several megabytes in size. The "Create Slideshow" show consistes of 3 seperate shows put together by Carol Thomas (USA) and Oleg Lobachev (Russia) who demonstrate mostly through Adobe Photoshop the ways to achieve the effects you are after. They create layers and save each as a seperate jpeg file. They then insert them into PTE and apply the differing transitions to achieve remarkable effects. Hope this helps, regards, Trev C

Boxig, Please excuse my ignorance if I overlooked the obvious, but how do I, or anyone else for that matter, find your latest release of the program "Multishow"? I've visited your website but can not find "Multshow", however on page 2 of this Forum there is a link that will get me there, is there not something more obvious that I have not seen? Brian, I forgot to add that by using a SVHS cable, as opposed to phono, you get the best possible video signal even though taping to VHS. Regards, Trev C

Brian, I'm not sure that I have the answer you are looking for, however, I overcame this problem by connecting a SVHS cable from my computer to my video recorder and recording straight on to the tape. You will also need to output audio as well by connecting to the earphone socket with a cable that terminates in a phono plug for connection to the video recorder. I use a laptop by the way. For the life of me I can't remember precisely which software I played the avi file through, although it may have been "Photos on CD & DVD". I didn't try it but it may be possible to tape straight from the PTE show when it is running??? Regards, Trev C

Davel, Just remember that the file size of the picture that Granot's software captures is too small to get a reasonable print out. That is only true of course if you reduce your photographs to 1024 x 768 at 72 ppi and then save as jpeg at about 6 level. I make a copy of all the photgraphs first and save them to a CD just in case the unthinkable should happen, I then do the size adjustment on the photos remaining on my hard drive prior to making the PTE show.
