  1. BTW, I tried swapping folders of zipped files and the actual jpgs, and the bold listing stayed the same. So apparently it's the pte file that I'm having trouble with. (Sorry if this is elementary... but I'm not too sharp on this stuff. I've used P2E since the first or second version, but I don't dig into the inner workings.)

  2. I use P2E for manually advanced programs for speaking presentations.

I sometimes pass the pte and image files back and forth between various computers. For example, I design a show for a speaking engagment on my main computer, then refine it on my laptop in the hotel room. When I do this, or later copy that refined pte and files back to my main computer, the bold listing for the active images goes away. I like to have that feature because I delete unused files from the folder.

How can I get P2E to once again recognize which files are being used by showing them in bold?

  3. P2E doesn't need video clips. Still image slide shows are so nice.

And movies don't need sound. Silent movies are just fine. And besides, video isn't necessary at all. Super 8mm movie film works too. And no one will ever need more than 640K of ram.

    Shall I go on?

    <_<

  4. I too would like the option to add video clips. We use P2E for a speaking program. So this is what I had to do...

I made exe files of my movie clips with ProShow, then made a blank slide in P2E with a link that opens that exe of the video clip.

It's a clumsy method and messy appearance, but at least it's a workaround for now.

Why don't I just use ProShow instead of P2E? While ProShow can be used for manual advance, it's not designed for that. It makes a "cut" (instantaneous) transistion. I prefer a slower transistion (150ms).

  5. EXCELLENT info! Thanks.

From your test, I can see that the best solution is just to set an expiration date for anything we send out. It's easy and simple.

I was hoping the clock would start when it's first run on a computer. But that's OK. I'll just do the expiration date.

    Thanks again.

  6. I could set a date for it to expire, but I was wondering what the exact meaning of the "expire after" is. For example, I could set a 7 day expiration so that the time spent in transit getting mailed to the client wouldn't be a factor. But that relies on it's activation starting when the client puts it in their machine. That's why I was wondering when the "clock" starts.

  7. With the "Expire after" feature... does the show stop working:

    1) after the first time it was run, including on my computer before I send it through the mail to a client)

    2) on the client's computer after the first time it was run on a the client's computer

    3) after the time it was created on my computer

    TIA

  8. Not sure if this I understand. You can do this now... select all slides and customize them all at one time to "Stop after this slide".

What I meant was that any NEW added slides default to that. It used to in older versions. Now the default is "No actions after this slide". I just want to change the default for new slides.

Just so I understand, the Wait for a key press WILL be the default if we choose it?

otherwise I'd like to simply be able to choose "Stop after this slide" as the default.

  9. Good luck! I hope you make it back to Texas again sometime. I met you at the TPPA (I believe) a couple of years ago. Enjoyed your presentation.

    Take care,

    Fred

We probably won't teach in Texas for a long time. We don't like to do the same school more than twice, and we already did that.

Anyway, I tried doing a non-full screen 1024x768 size for the P2E show without a border, and that will work since it will be projected with a 1024x768 projector.

I wish P2E also could be preset to make all new slides that are added to "Stop at the end of this slide". Previous versions would automatically do that. Now I have to remember to customize every single new slide I add. Big PITA and I don't always remember. Some slides are set to start an exe movie, and others have a certain time I need them on for, so I can't do a blanket time for all existing slides.

    AARRGGHH!

P2E used to be so easy!

  10. Fuzzy,

It does it in preview and in the executable! There is a thread where you can send in information to ATI to complain about it, but I haven't heard back from them (and at this point, they probably will not fix it). I've sent them information about two of my ATI boards with respect to this problem.

As long as your clients don't have ATI video cards, running Windows XP and have them calibrated, it shouldn't be a problem and they won't even see it.

    Regards,

    Fred

p.s. - Do you have any lectures coming up?

OK thanks. We'll be in California next week.

  11. No, regrettably it's ATI video card in your laptop discards color profile in fullscreen mode of slide show. Confirmed bug of ATI's drivers under Windows XP.

OK. Does it do that only when previewing a show, or does it also do that with exe shows?

  12. I have absolutely no idea what you said! But no matter. I think I found the trouble.

I recently moved the show onto a different hard drive. Since then I added some new video clips. Some video clips were looking for the old address, while some were looking in the correct location. So some clips would show while others wouldn't

That would explain why i thought it was intermittent.

    I think!

I'll post again if the problem rears its' ugly head again, but otherwise I think that was it.

  13. Ouch! Way too hard. I'm not too sharp with P2E so I have no idea what you were talking about.

I thought there might be an easier way than setting a long time for each slide and a short time for the selected one. I think that's much easier.

    Otherwise 5.0 does it easily.

Maybe you can help me decide whether to save all my shows as 5.0 (irreversable) or stick with 4.48. I only use it for manual shows these days. I use ProShow Producer for music shows/DVDs
