  1. Thanks for taking the trouble Xaver. I shoot raw in Adobe 98. I have an Eizo monitor also. I am not sure what I can do now. Perhaps I can play around with a colour chart to see which version looks correct. The portrait is not the best image to use as the elements are so variable and subject to taste. I shall be installing CS6 soon, so I may be back to square one anyway.
  2. Duplicated posts so removed one. This removed the jpeg, so here it is again. The monitor is calibrated using an X-rite I-1 sensitometer, which I think means it is not resulting in a sRGB profile
  3. As requested, here is the original, which also looks too red in Windows Explorer. This suggests, I suspect, that there is indeed something happening to it in its transition through Photoshop, or even Lightroom. Appreciating your help.
  4. Thanks, Peter. I was about to say I had done exactly as you said, but I mustn't have, as I can now see the jpeg is there. So, at last, something which demonstrates the difference in my images when viewed in PS and PTE. I want them to look as they do in PS Ian
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I was looking for something I did wrong or haven't done in PTE and you are wanting me to check the original image in Photoshop. It has sRGB assigned. sRGB is my normal working space. I have attached a word document with both screenshots for comparison. I seem to recall coming across a desaturate the images option in PTE some time ago, but I couldn't find it again. Perhaps it was for DVD output, and I only want an exe file in this case. Is there nowhere in PTE to specify the colour space?
  6. Hi Dave, Will do as you suggest, but don't know where to find colour settings. Edit file opens the image in Photoshop where it looks fine. Help appreciated. Ian
  7. My nice subtle skin tones, especially reds in ears and shadow areas appear saturated in PTE. I am working in sRGB. I haven't noticed it before, so I can't work out the cause. Any suggestions?
  8. Hi FX Designer. You wrote: Finally, when creating computer output to DVD, SVCD or VCD be aware of the differences in formats of your movie/avi files. If possible always output your final product to DVD as a MPEG-2 formatted file - it is a cleaner and higher resolution output than MPEG-1 formatted files. On the otherhand, if producing a SVCD/VCD you should stay with the MPEG-1 format for most DVD players that support SVCD/VCD only do so with those created as a MPEG-1 data file. (SVCD supports MPEG-2 , VCD onlys support MPEG-1 but either may not work on all DVD players). You are mentioning something here which I need help with. I am burning with Nero. My intended DVD version of a slideshow is not playing on my tv's dvd player. I can play what's on the disk through my lap top pc, but in low visual quality. My DVD player rejects the disc as unreadable. From what I have heard and what you have written above, it would seem that various DVD players might read any given slideshow, while others reject it. If I am to put slideshows onto DVD for my clients, how can I be sure that they will be able to view on their set-up? I had once a show which played on my modest-priced player, but would not play on an expensive B & O player. It seems a bit lame to say it might play to a client. Am I best sticking to .exe files? Any tips or suggestions? Thanks in anticipation. Ian Just thought of a possible factor. My Lap Top PC (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo) burns only DVD+Rs. Do we have to use DVD-Rs?
  9. Hi Igor, Thanks for the advice. I have already upgraded to the 4.3 beta version and my first show is very smooth. I am impressed by the light box sorting facility. I was going to request this, but didn't get round to it. Well done. It looks very nice as well as does the job. When showing the shows to my wedding and portrait clients, I have then been opening up the images in Fotostation which enables me to tag the preferred images and later view just those. I can also tile up to 8 images for comparison. I wonder whether this is something you might consider for your program? Keep up the good work. Ian C.
  10. Hi Igor, I have been using 4.2. Do I need to re-do old shows for the new software to make a difference? Ian C.
  11. Hello, I hope you can explain why my shows flicker when fading to and from landscape images but are smooth between portrait images on my Fujitsu-Siemens 15 inch lap-top. When a second 19 inch CRT monitor is attached everything runs smoothly. Thanks. Ian C.
  12. The two files joined together became 1 MP3 which played ok before putting it into the slideshow. I let it run for more than a second before deciding it hadn't worked. I don't understand why adding a second of silence at the beginning would make any difference, once the second has passed. Is it a problem that I am using the internal player?
  13. Thanks, Jim. How was I going to manage without the ability to shorten, merge, fade etc. music and other sounds? I have downloaded Acoustica and joined together the two tracks into one. I thought I had cracked it, but all I got was silence until I checked the box to use the internal WAV/MP3 player. I note that PTE recommends not to do this. Is this the way to make it work, and will anyone who receives a copy have any problems?
  14. As a new user with only a couple of shows behind me, I have not sussed all of the pitfalls. My frustrating problem is the show is running well until the point is reached where a second piece of music begins. The image flickers between the same 2 slides for a while, then a couple of others before sticking on another. The music seems to carry on ok although there is a very short bit of noise between tracks. I can't seem to stop the show with escape or any other click. I've reloaded the music and thought I had cracked it, but embarrassingly, the problem came again when showing a client. The music tracks are mp3s. The Jpegged images are not very large. Any suggestions?
