  1. Thanks for the tip about saving as an MPEG2 file before burning a DVD. If I had known, it would have saved me quite a few wasted DVDs !! Norrie.
  2. Nobeefstu, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Does this mean that when you want to record a PTE AV one should use the "window mode" rather than "full screen" mode ? Norrie.
  3. I have just created a AV using PTE v 5.1 . The AV, with quite long panoramas (4000*768px), runs very well on my computer. However when I create a DVD and play it back on my TV the panoramas are automatically resized so that the whole image appears on the screen at very much reduced height. All the other images (1024*768px) appear normally. (I accept the black edges down the sides). I have checked with the "TV safe zone" marker and all the images fit height wise into this, including the panoramas. What am I doing wrong ? Norrie.
  4. Thanks for the prompt reply Igor. Will need to try and upgrade my laptop. Norrie.
  5. I have just cerated my first show with animations using PTE v 5.0 The show runs fine on my desktop but when I load it onto my laptop and run it, the animations are very jerky. I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 with a NVIDA GeForce FXGo 5200 video card and the machine has 256MB Ram. If I increase the Ram to say 1GB will the animations run smoothly ? Any advice will be most welcome as I am due to give a talk at my local Camera Club and don't want to have to take my desktop along. Norrie.
  6. Thanks Al & Ken for your prompt reply. I thought I needed a music file to be added before this function would work. However the reason for my question is that I have been reading (on & off) Jeff & Lin Evans' User Guide and on page 18, top paragraph, it gives the impression you can run the Timeline and view the Preview Pane without adding music. I thought perhaps I was missing a trick. However if music needs to be added so be it.
  7. I am having finger trouble with the Timeline. When I create a simple slide show, say 5 slides and no music, then open the Timeline, I can see the slide representations at the correct transition spacing, but when I press the Play Button nothing happens. I can see the little blue triangle under the timeline but there is no vertical blue line. Have I got something set up incorrectly ? Any help would be much appreciated.
  8. Colin, Thanks for your reply. I was trying to avoid re-sizing my images as I've set up this show of a friends wedding and there are quite a few slides. I'll probably try the "percentage reduction" method first. Thanks for also pointing out where to find the "TV safe zone" button. I knew it existed from previous versions of PTE but have been searching for ages to find it. Norrie.
  9. Despite reading Pavel's note re burning DVD I am not getting the results I expected. All my slides are resized to 1024*768 px In PTE v5.0, under "Project Options", Screen Settings.....I set aspect ratio of slide = 16:9 and set 100% of slide to show on main image DVD burn, "Project Options".............. I set Menu aspect ratio = 16:9 The DVD burns perfectly but when viewed on a 16:9 TV, the images look fine with a black band down each side, however the top and bottom of the images are slightly cropped !! Can anyone tell me what settings I should apply so that all the image is visible on a 16:9 TV screen. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what settings I need to apply so that I can see all the image. I don't mind a black border all round. Thanks.
  11. Thanks Ken. Very easy when you know how. Saved me a lot of heart ache. Thanks again, Norrie.
  12. Hi, I'm new to the Forum although I've been using PTE v4.48 successfully for some time. Having created some panoramas from a recent holiday in Canada I wished to create a slideshow using the new pan/zoom effects. I downloaded PTE v5.00beta8t and followed the tiuorials on panning. I was able to create a reasonable slideshow; so, as usual I firstly saved the *.pte file and then the *.exe file. Double clicking on the *.exe file the slideshow runs normally. If however I click on the *.pte file an information box opens saying "Project files created with PicturesToExe v1.00 - 1.60 are not supported now". If I click <ok> then PTE opens up as v4.48 and no pictures are selected so I cannot edit my show. Can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
