  2. Bubba,

    You post of MP3.com :

Unlike many other subscription offerings that restrict how you can use your music, it easy for you to transfer your music to portable devices, burn CDs and make multiple copies for your personal use. It's up to you, because once you download the tracks you own the music. SIGN UP NOW!

The facts stated above may well be true for MP3.com's music you buy and download from their site .... but this is not the general rule for all music purchased.

The big clue in the statement above is PERSONAL USE.

Once you go beyond that simple fact of using it otherwise ( sell, give, copy or distribute to others to use or enjoy) ... its no longer for your PERSONAL USE.

And as Clive, Alan and all the others state ... the issue is highly debateable and is not going away. The only benefit to this issue now is that lawyers are making money off it.

  3. Techman1,

You bring up a good point ... alot of users are click/key happy. So hiiting the ESC would or could create some MENU reopen issues.

I recall a suggestion as to expand the NEW FEATURES to RUN application if application closes before last page. This would solve your current MENU issue.

However, I belive it will only create other new issues. If you create lots of linked Shows ... you could be all day hitting ESC to get to the last link and finally close. I would expect there have to be a another hot key to terninate all links in that case senario.

The more features the more to learn ... it no longer becomes a easy process .

  4. Tripstrilles,

Use PTE's new features of run applications.

    PTE v4.10

+ Added "Run application after last slide" option (Project options | "Advanced" tab)

Have your SHOW.exe run your MENU.exe after its last slide. Make sure your Menu.exe closes after SHOW.exe execution ... then the SHOW.exe will reopen your MENU.exe automatically at it end.

  5. Bubba,

Do not fall victim to a false sense of copy protection :

PTE has an option to disable a user's print screen option. It works great. Find it in Project Option, Advanced Tab, then just put a check mark in "Don't Allow Print Screen.

Many tools can overide this protection of PTE ...even my own ScreenPrints utility does ( it uses the prints screen key too and not some other hot key)

  6. Manny ,

When you make your 32x32 icons ... they must be in the 256 color format ... otherwise PTE or MMB wont accept/reconize them. This is the usuall issue of many users here as to why their icons wont work.

Make sure your ICON EDITOR program setting is outputing the ico file being made to 256 color. Alot of ICO EDITOR's (at install) get the pcs desktop color setting and set as output color setting for ico's made ... Im sure your XP is not running a 256 color desktop.

  7. mlt,

PTE shouldnt Print the NAVAGATION Buttons if you capture.

If you use PRINT PICTURE ... all you capture is your IMAGE only.

If you PRINT SLIDE .... you capture the IMAGE and the OBJECTS within the slide also.

Note : This is if your using PTEs print functions.

  8. sal,

I have no plans to download this product to test it further.

If you have installed both Photokeeper and PTE/Wnsoft on your PC ... Im sure you can immediately visualize the difference between their interface , functions and features. Im sure they are both installed in different folder locations on your hard drive ... and most of all ... a big difference in the overall file size. I dont think PTE will ever reach a 9MB+ installer size ... Igor is pretty picky on maintaining a overall small file size.

My only (best) guess is both PTE/WnSoft and Photokeeper use the same installer/builder software to package their programs ... so its possible to see some familar look in the installers interface color and layout during installation ... alot of sofware developers use the same installer/builder software.

  9. sal ,

Ive just tested the LINK you supplied ... reviewed the SITE PAGES ... and tested the DOWLOAD PROGRAM link. ( I did not completely download or install the program).

I see no relation, association, or reference to PTE/WnSoft in any documentation, names or images displayed at this supplied LINK.

Their DOWNLOAD installer is named differently and a whopping size of 9MB +.

This product (as I see it) has nothing to do with the PTE/WnSoft program we talk about here at the forum.

Have you downloaded and installed this Photokeeper program ?

  10. Ron,

It may be possible to get some delays in your linking especially if running your Shows from a CD. All this of course can vary PC to PC and the size of your Shows that need to be loaded. This is to be expected ... so all your remaining linked Shows may not appear seemless on every PC your production is played.

  11. Just a Note :

Soon after more testing ... I will release ScreenPrints v1.5

    New Features and changes:

1- Added Zip capabilities - processes and saves zip of remaining Photos/Images all in 1 click of a button - with graphic display while processing.

2-Added Single Image View - allows you to select single image only. Manual rotation and Auto rotation views still remain.

    3- Added/changed a few graphical/button enhancements.

    4- Tweaked a few processes.

Since I havent heard any issues or comments of the first release ... is there any issues that someone is experiencing ???

If issues exist to some users ... Id like to try and fix them prior to releasing this new v1.5

  12. Your right JRR,

The PTE Users here must understand thats theirs no way to STOP this image copy/hijacking of their works in the PTE Show. All the 3rd party tools etc ... may stop some inexperience pc users, slow down other users with some basic knowledge, but they wont ever stop it completely from the smart and sauvy user.

    A word to : cecilvw

Even though you have set whatever protections you used to expire your executable ... it was still possible for your client to grab the images prior to your 6 day expiration date. And other Tools out there can get them later ... so you will never be totally safe.

  13. Hey Boxig,

That would be a good feature. If Igor finds it possible to implement it.

But as we know ... sometimes one program cant do it all :)

Heres a great possiblity for PTE users needing such a feature :

Knowing that you have Paquet Builder as I do ... a just released v2.8 just came out. This now has "Package for Multimedia Program" creations section ... a new feature to easily accomplish the group packaging of your mulimedia content for distribution into a single executable.

I havent tested it out yet . But it looks like this feature could solve alot of issues of combining multiple PTEs for alot of Users here.

  14. Guido,

I agree totally about there being more pressing/pass needs in Igors to-do list that requires his thought and attention. :)

Beta v11 current "Caption change" is somewhat satisfactory ... even though some control has been compromised.

But I can live with the current change. Sometimes we must adjust ... and sometimes we need to fill in the blanks (caption box) all by our selves !

  15. Al,

:):D:) .... the taskbar thing was not important to me till the new changes. I think it was just fine in the previous versions. I was happy ! :D

I dont like blank entries displayed either ... as I would ( or use to be able to make entries) make names for Full Screen captions if I needed to. It was the back door approach ... but at least it was possible

The thing I hate about most auto-naming setting/features in programs ... is the lack of control over them. In most cases it takes more time to undo preset auto features when you want to customize your project. I admit auto features greatly help the new and novice user initially ... but what happens when they begin to learn something and now want to customize ?

Time for me to go to bed too ! B)

  16. Al,

Sorry if I may not have explained my points better.

The only problem I can possible have is in the near future ... is if the Windowed Mode caption name fails to respond to my entries like the Full Screen Mode has just been updated to do.

As it stands, I have lost control of the Caption naming options of the Full Screen Mode to the price of progress.

I still have total control of the other 50% ... which is Windowed Mode ... which I hope not to lose also.

  17. Al,

As I mentioned , the Windowed Mode caption display still works like the previous versions of PTE. Whatever entries you make into the .pte file for a Windowed Mode show ... are still totally controllable by the us (the creators). Therefore the User has no input or controll of the caption name here (as before and what I like).

Its only in the FullScreen Mode there is no longer control of the caption name... or a better way to put it... lost control. Here anybody can alter the display name caption by renaming the compiled exe.

  18. Al,

The behavior of the Full Screen Mode " Caption of Window" name is acting exacltly as I suspected and feared it would do.

It does not require any entries, wont accept any entries, and therefore it does not need to Show any entries. This is due to the fact it goes by the created exe filename when complied/ produced. It is more or less auto-naming the caption to whatever the compiled exe name is currently. But the biggest problem (and what I feared most ) with this auto-name feature ... anybody can change the window caption name now ... You and your Users ! Have you tried renaming your compiled exe lately to see what its current window caption is ??

Window Mode is still working as previous versions ... I like this behavior ... Its still programable and contollable to whatever the display we desire. So far anyway

Im really not so worried about the Full Screen Mode behavior and what it displays... its the Windowed Mode I use quite often for multi -tutorial uses ... and would like (more like need :) ) to retain control of name displayed so a User can not interfere.

    Oh well ...

  19. Bill,

Your post and my previous/latest post were being written at the same time more or less ... as I have just read your post.

As long as controls/terms are defined in how to retrive the taskbar name, I agree. As common to most Windows Applications naming logic now ... when one changes the filename ... the taskbar buton display reflects the same name change.

  20. Al,

Im glad were discussing the same topic ... I was a bit concerned of its varied content.

    Heres my basic point :

If I create the "Caption of Window " name ( empty, blank or named) ... I have total control of the name that will be displayed in the taskbar button.

If I leave it empty and it resorts to display a default name (the exe show name in this case) ... I have lost control ... and a USER/VIEWER can now control the name of my taskbar name by renaming my compiled exe name.

  21. Bill,

When I have edited the .PTE file and added a name to "opt_scr_caption=" it appears "grayed" in "Caption of window" (as before in PTE) yet always has successfully become the full-screen show taskbar show name. This is the "back door" approach that has to be used, and this has not changed from what I can tell.

If your creating a FULL SCREEN MODE show and want to have a "Caption of Window" taskbar button display name (like the WINDOWED MODE) ... you can easily achieve this by clicking-setting the Windowed Mode (radio button). Enter the Name you require ... and then click-set back to the Fullscreen Mode (radio button). Their is no need to manually edit the PTE file to have this Caption of Window name.

Also, concerning this new idea of using a default name for taskbar button name. I personally do not want see the "Caption Of Window" (whether its left blank or has a name entered by Us) ...change to some Exe Name by default if its left empty by me. I believe all has been fine in prior versions in this entry box .. if its left blank ... it should remain blank.

What is the intention of this auto name to a default button name if user has left entry empty ? for speed or laziness ?

Hopefully I have not mis -understood this topic here ... its a bit confusing and may need more clarity. My discussion above only relates to the Caption of Window name used that is relative of the taskbar button name displayed of a compiled exe only.

  22. saleeltambe,

Yes indeed .... you can do all this quite easily. Also, in PTE you can use buttons or other objects (pictures, text) as your clickable links ... this can allow you to be even more creative.

Your initial post gave me the impression of something much more in complex interaction( animated text and icons scrolling across selective PTE slides).

  23. saleeltambe,

Sorry if the answers seem to a bit confusing ... but you have somewhat described a broad view of your intentions/expectations in binding both applications (PTE & HTM).

PTE can do as Al has mentioned in the above post ... and performs quite well.

But I suspect the interactive control you desire/propose is much more involved than linking between the muliple applications. I believe you want to have more control of the interaction between the 2 programs.

    Heres what can work ....................

Example : You can have hyperlinks on PTE to open a HTM ...and vise-versa. This is about the limitation of actions/interactive control you can expect.

    Heres what wont work .................

Example: You cannot send parameters or variables to PTE to control it thru your hyperlink. By this I mean ...you wont be able to have a HTM hyperlink go to a certain PTE page and perform some functions in the PTE page ... and vise-versa. (This is what I define as "interactive" ... both binded as if 1 program .)

Also Note : Unless your HTM and PTE Shows are truely "binded together" you run into issues common to using multiple windows ... one is "always on top" and "stealing focus' from the other.

Hope this post hasnt become more confusing :)

  24. Welcome, saleeltambe

It is possible to insert or embed PTE Shows into other programs ( or as you say "developments").

However, this is only possible if your "development" program can perform such a function. I do not use Frontpage ... so Im not aware of its capabilities of what it can/can not import/embed.

    As to your purpose :

I want to have some animated text titles at the start up and some small animation icons inserted onto some pictures to make the CD a multimedia interactive presentation.

Making your external animations overlay/combine with the PTE Show for interactive purposes ... may prove to be a difficult/impossible task.
