  1. Hi,

    (pre release 15 June)

I just wanted to report some very similar visual problems. Probably more hardware problem than software (PTE) problem.

Here is full project to try : http://kalain.pierre.free.fr/pte/Project1_...07_13-16-24.zip

    What is the problem ?

Zoom effect of third image (920kb) is not smooth.

At the end of 1500ms 3rd image effect, zoom is not linear and has a quick speed hesitation.

zoom speed is linear (no quick speed hesitation) for second image (120kb)

    I got a radeon 8500 video card :

    Adaptateur Vidéo

    Modèle : RADEON 8500 SERIES

    Chipset : RADEON 8500 Series AGP (0x514C)

    RAMDAC : Internal DAC(400MHz)

    BIOS Vidéo : BK7.4.0 VR000.000.007.004.000.001.001 ldfyy

    Compatible VGA : Non

    Mémoire Totale : 64MB (64MB Vidéo) (54MB Système)

    Mémoire de Texture : 118MB

    Supporte Texture DIME : Oui

    Mode Vidéo Actuel

    Mode : 1280x1024 16M+ Vraies Couleurs (32-bit)

Taux de Rafraîchissement Actuel : 85Hz

Taille du Bureau Virtuel : 1280x1024

    CPU : Athlon 2100+

    Memory : 512Mb DDR SDRAM

  2. G'day Alain,

Is this what you are looking for?

Yes, this is what I'm looking for. Thanks

I was waiting such information near all other technical information (near image size, slide show image).

Igor, you should also change font (white with shadow effect) display image size because it's not very easy to read and find. ;)

This is probably why I didn't notice this was already implemented.

Some small improvments should be done with image size display.

    Thanks

    Alain

  3. You don't have to use a dark slide - just add any old image you happen to have handy, and then delete it in O&A. :)

Yes but this is less clear in slide panel because you have a thumbnail of an image that you do not use it in O&a window.

I prefer to have a dark or white thumbnail in slide panel, this helps to see where you do not display image.

    Thanks

    Alain

  4. Alain,

You can delete the main image in O&A if you just want the objects.

Also it's easy to add a dark-slide. I keep one in every project folder.

Yes this is what I'm doing also.

Rather than to keep a dark (or white) slide somewhere in a directory for a project, I'd like to do this from menu in PTE and choose in menu : add a dark (white) slide.

A built in function would be faster and easier because sometimes I do not remember where I put my dark slide. (or i delete it. )

  5. Hi,

Sometimes, I'd like to add a null image in Slide List, just in order to go to O&A window and make some animation with text, button, ....

So each time I'm looking for a simple image (white or black) in directories, add it in slide list and delete it in O&A object list.

Would it be possible to add in right clic menu Slide List something like : Add a null image.

This will allow you to go to O&A window whithout any object in object list.

  6. Hi,

While the new text macros using JPEG EXIF info are a welcome addition to version 5, it would be nice to use data stored in the IPTC fields as well. Many professional photographers, myself included, use the IPTC information to store keywords, captions, etc. I have one web page creation program (Arles Image Web Page Creator) that allows the use of either type of data (EXIF or IPTC) for automatic comments. I wonder if this would be possible in a later version of the program. It would save an extra step of transferring the comments from IPTC to EXIF fields.

    Thanks for considering this.

I agree with you but there is BIG problems because if you want this feature easy and efficicent to use, you first need to scan directories, to extract all IPTC filds and create a database. So when in PTE you search some images by IPTC fileds you just use an search inside internal data base to get some fast answers. ;)

I have been hardly involved in such softwares (with Iview Media Pro up to be acquired by Microsoft, but also and still with Picajet http://www.picajet.com/en/index.php as a beta tester and co developper, consultant) and I can tell you this is no so easy to implement.

For sure I'd like to see such feature in PTE, but I'm afraid this would be a too HUGE amount of work.

  7. Hi,

    Beta 15.

Report bug or Suggestion ? (moderators as you want.)

    Create a project.

Add 4 white slide. (can be 4 times the same image.)

In first image, in A&O window add a button and select action "Go to slide number" : "4".

On third image in A&O window, add a text : "3"

On fourth image in A&O window, add a text : "4"

Run project. Project will stop on first image. that's ok.

Now if you click on button, you effectively go to image 4, but with displaying also third image during transition.

In some cases that's a bit strange.

It would be better after to clic on button to display only fourth image with transition effect over first image; (whithout showing third image.)

That's surprised me on Lin's example here : http://www.lin-evans.net/pte/fullmenudemo.zip from this topic. http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index....ost&p=41681

  8. Hi Alain,

    Very nice tour! Antarctic?

    Yes, try with GoogleEarth : 75°S 123°E / Alt : 3600m

I see even there - recycling - LOL. I see lots of SnowCat tracks but no vehicles??

There is only few vehicules but as it doesn't snow a lot (less than 5cm/year) a snow track path can be seen for a long time.

    Signs in English.

the station is performed by French and Italian people. But scientists are from every where.

Here some more informations about it : http://www.concordiabase.eu/

I does show the nice features of an MOV/QTVR type virtual reality. It would be nice to be able to display one in a slideshow.

Here is some of them here : http://kalain.pierre.free.fr/ (the 2 last links)

I made them in January while there with beta 8a.

At this time, I didn't know how to use PTE V5.00, so the easiest way for me was to adapt and use examples from TheDom Sharing Place.

    Alain

  9. Hi,

Even if PTE would "support" MOV format or QTVR format it would be possible to include 360 degree virtual reality slides in a manual slideshow. This wouldn't allow "creation" of the show, but would allow an MOV or QTVR created in other software to be used in a PTE slideshow.

My answer is out of original subject but have a look at my personnal QTVR show.

    http://kalain.pierre.free.fr/DC/CE05_06/Pa...ncordia%201.mov

At left bottom of the screen there is a "?" which will show you where to clic in order to move to another spot and do a virtual visit.

    Don't be lost, it's freezing outside. ;)

  10. Hi stéphane,

Good ADB!!! It's exactly the way I've worked!

I have never used morphing software, I thought it was only for "playing" with images.

You shown us that it's a quite interesting way to use such software.

I guess there is plenty of them along the web.

Do you have any preference ?

    Alain

  11. After reading this topic we can suggest two features which can be implemented in the nearest beta of v5.00

    1) "Stop at the end of a slide" option in slide properties window.

In this case you can easily realize menu or waiting until user press Next slide key or button.

This option will work only when "Synchronize slides and music" option disabled.

Firstly I agree with foto1, that the facility in Version 4.48 to disable slide timings was very useful and I am not sure why this has been removed.

    Jeff,

It will possible in beta 10 or beta 11. Excuse us, that we missed this moment.

    Thanks Dom for the link.

Reading answers, I guess this should be implemented soon in next PTE versions.

    I can't find it in beta 13.

    Regards

    Alain

  12. Hi,

"Go to slide number" could be a bit improved and become easier to use even if this is not the best way to use such function : http://www.picturestoexe.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6730

Rather to enter number of image (I guess this is not be easy to remember of each image number when there is a lot of images in a project), a window could be open in order to display thumbnail image tray project.

With this you just need to click on wanted image (thumbnail).

Much more easier and faster. ;)

Here is a screen copy to illustrate improvement.

  13. Hi,

"Go to slide number" action is quite interesting but from my point of view suffer of lack of efficiency.

Let's say a slide show with 10 images. (Demo limitation)

Imagine that at first image there is a button with "Go to slide number" 8th image.

By now, you are not welcome to add or delete any image between first and 8th image!

Because button link will point in absolute position in image tray (8th) and if you delete an image, link "go to slide number" will still point in 8th position; your image is now in 7th position. <_<

I can't imagine using this action (go to slide number) with a 50 images slide show with several buttons located a bit everywhere in slide show. This can become rapidly a nightmare. :(

Except if your slide show is perfectly clear in your mind and you succeed to do it in one time. (It means without any modification : add or delete slide in project.)

A better way would be to point at image name rather than at position image.

By this way you do not mind to insert or delete some images and change position number images. The link follow image's name. This means when you rename an image (F2) "Go to slide name" have to be updated by the software. a bit like in web site software in order to keep valid links.(or check broken links)

By now, when you add for the second time same an image (tree.jpeg) already in image tray, the new name should be "tree(1).jpeg". A bit like in window, in a folder you can't have 2 files with same name but you can have several occurence of this file with different names. ;)

I hope this will catch developpement team attention.

  14. Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.

I have used ThumbsPlus for my image management needs for many years. While perhaps not as sophisticated as iView Media Pro (now owned by MicroSoft) or iMatch or even idImager, it has a lot of functionality which perfectly suits my needs. I do have the free version of idImager and I also have purchased ACDSee Pro. I have an old license for iMatch as well, but haven't used it recently. I guess the new Photoshop Lightroom is good at this as well, and if you have Photoshop, of course you can also use Bridge. The CS3 version is faster than older versions,

Well, I have tried all of them. The less worst from my point of view is Iview but not the perfect one. Does it exist a perfect software ? I should say yes. The perfect software is the one which suit you.

For Iview I got a beta tester license (2.6 version) but developpment team didn't include an important missing feature in 3.xx versions. now as it's owned by microsoft, i think things will be a bit worse during a lpas of time. (Just look at forum to see how many people are complaining about the software. <_< )

The things I like about ThumbsPlus is that it is relatively intuitive (which means I can have my husband, who is almost computer illiterate, use it to print proofs for me on photoshoots). I can select a group of photos and add IPTC (or JPEG EXIT if need be) captions and keywords, I can create virtual galleries, do batch functions like renaming, basic editing

I will have a look at TP. ;)

if I am in a hurry, create quick, simple slideshows for display at the events for which I shoot (I always use PTE for the final product), resizing (for PTE shows), etc.

You can already resize pictures under PTE.

if you are under XP, install freeware "resize picture" from Microsoft Powertoys, so under PTE when you are browsing for pictures, instead to add a 6M/8M/10M pixel image, just right clic on image and select "Explorer" and select "Resize Pictures" and choose the final format. ;)

TP is the quickest way for me to accomplish the most things that I need to do in the least amount of time. And I am always surprised that in all the reviews of digital asset management, it never seems to be mentioned. Too bad, because I think a lot of folks are missing out on a great product.

The easiest and most powerfull way to organise pictures is to drag and drop them into a keyword, place, event, ... lists. That's what doing IVMP but you can't filter the list before.

    Thanks.

    Alain
