  1. Hello,

I do not know where Skelton is but I found the show delightful and very well done.

As was mentioned before the one thing that crossed my mind whilst watching was whether it would have been easy to superimpose some of the images so the 'old' fades out with the 'new' fading in.

The narration was very easy on the ears and even as a stranger to the area I found it very interesting to see the changes.

The background etc is down to personal choice.

    A good show.

  2. Hello Igor,

Thank you for replying to my post of yesterday.

And also thanks for listing the proposed improvements to the next beta version. With so much going on I'm sure my small request can wait for a later version.

It is so impressive when the users get a chance to have such an input into the released version of such great software.

I'm sure Bill Gates didn't ask his public?

Thanks for all your hard work.

  3. Hi Igor,

The new beta version would seem to please many PtE supporters along with myself with the new additions that you and your team are including.

Do you recall my question of the 'Start up window' against a background and not the computer desktop as 4.48? Will this beta have this included ?

    Just a thought.

I certainly look forward to seeing the new version.

Undoubtly a lot of hard work. Well done

  4. Hi,

Having just read your post about your 'loop' problem I wonder if the solution is to download the very small attachment Igor sent out a few weeks ago. (If you haven't already done so)

Although this was to enable PTE 4.48 to close down when requested when using Vista it may have a bearing on your situation as you have put the show together using Vista.

I cannot think of any reason why you should have this problem so this may help.

    Good luck.

  5. Barry,

Regarding 'Focus'...At 11.15 am I had a phone call to tell me that my new shower for my new bathroom was being delivered instead of today. So I then had to wait for it.

However I managed to get along today and spent an hour or so wandering around. It has become more and more a show for the pros and commercial boys...weddings and large printers etc. I thought the Canon stand was good.

Sorry to have missed you both but look forward to seeing you at Chester.

I think there were a number at the National Gallery sharing that piece of cardboard!!!!!!!!!

    Take care

  6. Hi,

I am amazed by the very strange thinking on adusting one's monitor resolution in order to view a slideshow as the author intends it to be viewed.

This particular show by Barry with all the super blends and montages can only be seen at its best at the original resolution.

How difficult is it for anyone to change their monitor to view the show? Afterwards they can put it back to their very own precious settings.

To suggest that the author has to 'adjust' is just plain silly.

    Anthony

  7. I agree with Patrick and Ken, the author has to adjust and not vice versa ...

How many people are going to change the resolution? Zero!

And then PTE V5 can be adapted to all screen resolution, so why impose a resolution to users ?

Maybe review what is being done on other forums...

  8. Hello Xaver

Thank you for sharing your Mallorca show with us.

I thought the images were lovely and certainly brought back some wonderful memories of my one trip there with my wife over 30 yrs ago.

However I hope you will forgive me if I say that my first reaction was one of 'why the pan and zoom?' In all but a few of the shots I didn't feel that the movement subtle as it was, really enhanced the sequence to any degree. Also being perhaps unfairly critical maybe the transitions were a little too fast? Though I felt the music and timing was fine.

We all see things differently and as I'm now understanding the mechanics of the PZR in version 5 I feel it would be easy to'use' these facilities because 'I can' more than where they actually would benefit the show.

Maybe I'm alone with these thoughts but very often I think good images (as yours are) will stand very proud on their own.

    Anthony

  9. Hello Dave,

I have just watched your show and thoroughly enjoyed it. The photographs were super with wonderfully saturated colours and the music matched perfectly the sense of the open spaces of this landscape (obviously your intention). The transitions were bang on and 'no animation'.

My screen is 1152 / 864 ...a small gap on either side which didn't upset the viewing at all.

    Well done.

  10. To all those that have doubts on using laptops with PTE5 like Henri I have no problems at all.

I purchased from PCSpecialists a laptop in November 2007 with Windows XP

    2 Gb ram

Intel Core 2 Duo 800MHZ processor

    512 GEFORCE 8600GT graphics card

    160gb hard drive.

I believe the graphics card is the important component.

    This all works really well.

  11. I too have had a number of failed attempts at downloading PTE5.1. Initially the download time stated to be 1hr 20mins and then another time 1hr 15mins so I canceled. Further attempts stopped after about 500 to 600kbs so I gave up.

Then a day later it sailed through.....??????

    Not used it yet though

  12. Thank you DaveG for coming back so soon.

I do not need it to fill the screen only to appear on a background and not the computer desktop with the icons etc. However if it filled the whole screen that would okay too.

Even with the 'run' button (the only one I have on that window) off the screen due to the window's size I just hit the 'enter' key to start the show running. I appreciate the show will fill the screen in Version 5 but it's just a 'messy' introduction using this window unlike the professional appearance of 4.48.

    Anthony

  13. I looked back at the previous problem (Beta 10 or 11) and found that, at that time, the start-up window was larger than monitor size making it impossible to click on buttons which were off-screen.

Igor recognized a problem and said he had corrected it. However, I don't use Start-up Window and did not realise that it has been the way it is now since Igor "corrected" it.

Having spoken with some people who DO use it the concensus is that it would be nice if it did fill the screen.

    Sorry about the confusion.

    DaveG

  14. This may be difficult to explain....but here goes.

In PTE4.48 in which I am very familiar and use a lot the 'Customise Startup window' in Project options 'main' tab will allow a window ( of one's choosing ) to be displayed before the show starts....This is displayed on the background created in the 'screen' menu in the project options box. All very straight forward and ideal for a short verbal intro before the show.

However in PTE5 this 'Start up' window appears with the desktop and icons etc visible around the edges. I cannot seem to override this effect. Is it me or am I missing something?
