  1. I have used PTE successfully now for several months. Since downloading version 4.2 beta 2a I have not been able to successfully burn a program to a disc. I use an autorun inf file with the .exe file as I have always done. The program runs fine from my hard drive, but when I burn to a disc it plays for about 5 seconds and then seems to lock up. I hear little short bursts of sound but the picture never changes and it will not close. I have to restart the computer. I have two different burners, a sony and an HP and it is the same on both. I've never had this problem before. Any ideas?

  2. Late last night I emailed the company advising them I had lost my key due to a disasterous crash of my computer and a reformating of the hard drive. By this morning they had emailed me a new key. Wouldn't it be great if other companies were so responsive to their customers.

    Thanks,

    Frank

  3. I had to do a complete reformat of my hard drive (its a long story) but had them do a complete backup into an "old date" folder. Where would I find my key in that back up data or will I be able to?

  4. I think I just found the answer to my previous question in a thread started back on march 21 where Raypar explained the process. So now my question is, "can I connect directly from my scan converter to my pinnacle capture card to capture the pte presentation in digital format?" Casey seemed to think that it had to go from computer back to digital camera and then to capture card. I think that the answer is that the digital camera performs the same function under these circumstances as the scan converter, but I am not sure.

  5. Thanks for all the replies. It has been very helpful.

Right now I put my slides for each year in a main directory for the year ie "2002". Then I have subdirectories for each event in that year, ie "Ed's birthday", "Fourth of July", "Mother's day" etc. (Mostly family stuff) But it would be very helpful if, when I open a sub directory I could see thumbnails of all the slides in that directory.

  6. I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this question. I am a satisfied user of P2E, but after reading some of the posts in this forum I can see that I need some kind of photo management software. Right now all my scanned photos are simply in files and folders on my windows 98SE system. I would like a tool to manage them more efficiently with thumbnails, a good search capability etc. nothing too complicated. What software do you recommend?

  7. I have to disagree with boxig on one point. I am a "simple family man" but I am interested making a fun and entertaining show for the family. I am 60 years of age and at the end of each year my wife and I prepare a slide show for my children and grandchildren, of all the years activities. I don't want to simply document what happened the previous year. I want a somewhat entertaining show ( considering my limited talents.)

I always have music, fancy animated titles, composited photos of all the grandkids as heroes or athletes of some kind, (photoshop) and at the beginning of the show a video of my wife and I welcoming them to "This years annual. . . " The video is edited in Pinnacle or Adobe.

With PTE I must use a button to go to the video portion and then when it is finished hit another button to begin the slide show. It would be great to have the ability to autorun a full screen video and then seamlessly go the the slide show. (I use a scan converter to simply route what is on my PC screen to the TV. I think a read another post where Boxig is working on such a utility. And I am going to check out MMB and Swish. ButI do love PTE for what it does. I wish it were a little more versitile.

  8. The vcd format has been mentioned here with regard to dvd burning. I have not been satisfied with the quality on vcd. (xatshow or or other software that burns slideshows to vcd. My question is "why not consider developing a program that burns a slide show to dvd format (mpeg 2) rather that vcd (mpeg 1 quality) to get a higher resolution and better quality? I'm new at this and maybe this question shows it. But I would appreciate any enlightment.

  9. Is there any way to insert a movie, ie avi or mpg file, as a slide within a slide show. I know that I can use the object editor to insert a button on a slide that, when clicked, will take me to the movie, but I would like to have the movie play automatically, full screen, when the associated slide is reached in the show, and after the movie then it would automatically go to the next slide. Similar to what can be done in power point.

    Thanks.
