  1. boxig, your are correct. I have no problem burning a program created with an older version of PTE, even after I installed the new version. I have not yet tried one w/o sound. Will try this evening. Frank
  2. I have used PTE successfully now for several months. Since downloading version 4.2 beta 2a I have not been able to successfully burn a program to a disc. I use an autorun inf file with the .exe file as I have always done. The program runs fine from my hard drive, but when I burn to a disc it plays for about 5 seconds and then seems to lock up. I hear little short bursts of sound but the picture never changes and it will not close. I have to restart the computer. I have two different burners, a sony and an HP and it is the same on both. I've never had this problem before. Any ideas? Frank
  3. Movie Factory 2 will recognize my music and the gradient background that I use in my project, but will not recognize the pictures, when using the PTE AVI format. Any ideas? I have successfully burned other dvd's of PTE projects when using another codec. (but not quite the quality I would like.) Frank
  4. Thanks for the quick response. Amazing, compared to other so-called tech support sites. Frank
  5. Why does the PTE AVI file get automatically deleted when you click "finish?" Suppose I want to archive the PTE AVI file. Do I just not click finish, or do I copy the file to another folder before clicking "finish"? What is the best way to do this?
  6. I cannot get either Ulead Movie Factory 2 or Sonic MyDVD to recognize a PTE generated AVI. If I use the "custom" button and use another codec, ie Indeo then Ulead will recognize the resulting avi. But of course it takes much much longer to create the avi than with pte. Anyone know why I am having this problem. Franki

    DVD/SVCD

True, SVCD is an mpeg 2 format but the resolution is 480 X 480, rather than DVD resolution of 720 X 480.
  8. Late last night I emailed the company advising them I had lost my key due to a disasterous crash of my computer and a reformating of the hard drive. By this morning they had emailed me a new key. Wouldn't it be great if other companies were so responsive to their customers. Thanks, Frank
  9. I had to do a complete reformat of my hard drive (its a long story) but had them do a complete backup into an "old date" folder. Where would I find my key in that back up data or will I be able to? Frank
  10. I think I just found the answer to my previous question in a thread started back on march 21 where Raypar explained the process. So now my question is, "can I connect directly from my scan converter to my pinnacle capture card to capture the pte presentation in digital format?" Casey seemed to think that it had to go from computer back to digital camera and then to capture card. I think that the answer is that the digital camera performs the same function under these circumstances as the scan converter, but I am not sure. Frank
  11. A question from a beginner, "how do you convert from pte.exe to svcd? Frank
  12. Thanks for all the replies. It has been very helpful. Right now I put my slides for each year in a main directory for the year ie "2002". Then I have subdirectories for each event in that year, ie "Ed's birthday", "Fourth of July", "Mother's day" etc. (Mostly family stuff) But it would be very helpful if, when I open a sub directory I could see thumbnails of all the slides in that directory. Frank
  13. I hope this is the appropriate place to ask this question. I am a satisfied user of P2E, but after reading some of the posts in this forum I can see that I need some kind of photo management software. Right now all my scanned photos are simply in files and folders on my windows 98SE system. I would like a tool to manage them more efficiently with thumbnails, a good search capability etc. nothing too complicated. What software do you recommend? Frank
  14. For weddings how about "From This Moment" by Martina McBride? Frank
