  1. Hello Bert,

I really like this show, my opinion matches that of Steven re the HDR. I also liked the silence as Antbrewer mentioned and Its something I will use in the future.

There is something about photographing Decay/Abandonment, it really creates atmosphere and Ive enjoyed BB's shows also which cover this area. Hopefully the inspiration to photograph this subject will stay with me as Id love to give it a go one day soon, so thank you for that also.

Great photo's Bert, thank you for posting as ever

    regards

    Ralph

  2. Another slick piece Eric.

Well presented as ever, I like the way you are putting these shows together with PTE.

You deserve more comments, but the way this forum has gone I'm not surprised with the lack of comments.

Another silver screen icon in Ava Gardner, but if course Clark Gable was a massive heartthrob in his day and in my opinion and as Ive said before, the modern actors come nowhere near in talent in my humble opinion.

The French sites seem to use techniques like this and I know as I'm a member that they get far more comments on sequences posted.

Anyway, great show I really enjoyed it and Ive just viewed it in class with several others and we all enjoyed it.

    regards

  3. Yes

In the Project Options, make sure your background is set to BLACK, select the slide you want to fade in or out, then,

in the O&A screen, select the animation tab, make sure your slide has the bounding box around it, if not click the flag to the L/H side of the timeline, click the top plus sign at the R/H side of the time line, click opacity drop down arrow, move the slider to 0, click the top minus sign R/H side of time line. This give a fade out, to fade in then out, you need to set a tme point in the middle of the timeline & use the bottom plus sign on the timeline, experiment until you get what you want. I use 7.07, it could be a different operation in 7.5.

    Nicely explained Eric

  4. Eric,

Brilliant, really love the entertainment value.

Bogart was awesome in his day and would be up there today with the best of them if not above.

You put this together with skill Eric and obviously time so well done.

The still photographers of the day put us to shame, the black and white images are fantastic and if they had all our digital stuff they would be unbelievable I'm sure.

Ingrid Bergman was so beautiful wasn't she? oh hoe Id loved to have been a photographer in those days, the female stars of today cant compete in my humble opinion.

    Just great Eric

    thank you

    Ralph

  5. While looking through my previous shows I found one I hadn't converted to 16-9, as it was relatively small & having no projects on at present, I decided to re-make it using some of PTE's newer features & some techniques I've learned since the original.

Basically it's a parody of the 50s film The Third man & the book written by Peter Mandelson around the time of the change in UK governments.

    Mechanics.

Mediafire 43MB download, 4 m run time, 16-9 aspect ratio, 1920x1080 slide size fixed, 10 normal internet slides, 20 PNG compilation slides, 1 YouTube video, soundtrack compilation, PTE 7.07, Audacity 2.02.

    Hi Eric,

I enjoyed your tongue in cheek sequence, maybe a link sent to the gentleman in question would be good to see what reaction you might get LOL.

I loved that film and loved even more the film actresses of the day, the makeup and hairstyles were amazing and about four years ago I put together a slideshow of many of the 30's 40's and 50's "Screen goddesses" for the annual camera clubs public evening.

I'm actually working on my own collection of portraits depicting those actresses, I'm lucky to have two ladies helping me out that when made up in the relevant styles, look stunning and amazing.

Thanks again Eric that was fun and turned the clock back for me reminding me of those Sunday afternoon matinées on television, brilliant.

  6. Hello Umberto

"I hope being able to post the entire show on internet, but first i must entirely rework the music track that is bringing to me a lot of distribution limitations"

Ill look forward to seeing the whole show, I agree with Peter. Superb images and technique, well done for all your time and work in producing this.

  7. Hi Ralph

Have you been to Snods End or Bradford or Leeds or Wilmslow, all have an annual do of one form or another, even Southport Camera Club is having an AV comp' this month.

    Regards Eric

    Yachtsman1.

    Hi Eric,

After reading the original post, I though how interesting it sounds and that I would like to attend.

I read your reply and ventured to the Leeds av website and sadly could not get inspired because the information is mainly aimed at members and if you view the gallery it only gives links to 3 old shows, no photographs from members whatsoever.

While on the Leeds site I did click on a link to a welsh site, the home of two AV judges who are giving the premier lecture this year, I found no material from them whatsoever, but the site had some fantastic photos from some of the members.

Sadly the others are to far away for me but I have visited the respective sites and did find some good photography.

After petrol and entrance it would cost over a hundred pounds and as I could not view anything from them that would encourage me to attend I cant ever envisage a reason for me to travel to the event..

Thank you for the information Eric

    regards

  8. If there's any interest, I'll do a pdf of my workflow for LR with PTE in mind.

Go for it Roger, it will be appreciated, I use lightroom 90% of the time now, its well documented its for photographers and I look forward to seeing your workflow, we can always learn something new everyday.

    regards

    ralph

  9. I agree with this! LR is (for me) the key to image processing for pleasure. I've used Photoshop for more years than I care to remember (and taught it too) but I now only use it when absolutely necessary. The Lightroom workflow combines so well with PTE - it's brilliant.

I wonder whether those who can't get on with Lightroom have given it a real try? Remember how much time and effort it took to become really familiar with Photoshop then give LR about 20 % of this to get properly familiar with it.

I agree also, Ive been using photoshop for over ten years and still use it sometimes but lightroom is my main program now, I believe its for photographers and once you find your way around, view many of the hundreds of help video's on you tube or wherever you might just find it quicker and easy to learn than photoshop ever was.

  10. Hi Ken,

I really enjoyed the show, its amazing how much time is dedicated into keeping some of the old steam tractors up and running.

The exposures are excellent all round, really nice photography.

I feel you told a story and like some other slideshows that have been posted recently, I found myself once again looking forward to the next slide in the sequence.

I can understand Rogers remarks about the music, I can also understand why you chose 'Memories'. My take on music is that it has to suit the topic of the sequence so I agree with Roger, but in my opinion Memories could of played all the way through.

Music is a personal choice, we all see and feel differently.

Audacity will, (if you choose to use it) as you know, enable you to join the tracks together to create a smoother and better flow.

I really hope you do well with this in your AVI comp so good luck and congratulations on your first upload.

  11. Once a year we show a professional production instead of one of my home brewed efforts. Our next night for one of mine is next Tuesday, so this is the trailer for the final spring show.

Details 16MB Mediafire download, 5.5 minutes, 21 slides, 2 video clips, 10 music tracks.

    Hi Eric,

Im biased of course as my wife and I visit the theatre on a regular basis.

So many great shows for your viewers to chose from, I would pick them all.

Nice trailer Eric, loved the music and I hope all is well received.

  12. Ralph,

Yes, the song is Big River by Jimmy Nail - repeated to make it long enough, did you spot the join? It was a great job working with the blokes that did the dismantling, loved it, a good excuse to climb all over the cranes! I enjoy working in heavy industry, have had a few jobs working at coal power stations in India (a couple in the portraits presentation) One of the shots won me the Ilford Industrial Photographer of The Year Award in the early 90's, see attached, if I can do it!. I have been to Bharati's new yard on the west coast of India but the iconic 180 ton red cranes have yet to be re-erected, must go back when they are.

There used to be hundreds of cranes on the Tyne, now there is just a handfull. At least the Swans cranes were put to good use rather than scrapped.

    Hi Derek,

Thats a very moody dramatic photo, it conveys so much, brilliant and thank you for uploading it.
