  1. Thanks for the info, I'm not a "hardware" person, as my husband says, I make things "pretty". Nice guy, huh? I had reduced my photos in size for the TKD show, but apparently not enough. I'll be doing some testing on my systems on some shows. Luckily we run, XP, 2000 and 98 on different systems in our house. I'll try to find a "standard" that will work on all the systems. And when a customer orders a slide show, I'll make certain to ask what system they are running. Ok before anyone asks, we have 7 systems running at any given time. Most are XP, 1 is 2000 (until XP Pro is installed) and one is still on 98. I really appreciate the helpful information. Thanks
  2. Hi all, I have a question for the wonderful, helpful people in this group, yup, I'm buttering you up! Actually this has been the best posting site/BB I've ever been on, you all are so helpful. I'm sure this has been covered before (tried a search, but came up with zip). I create my shows on an XP system. But I have noticed that, example my show Delaney. When downloaded to a different system, the text was on the pictures rather than above and below which is how I added the text on each slide. Now that show was my 1st, and I was "playing". I did not re-size my photos or add borders or do anything special, all I did was add the text on each slide, plus the music. My husband downloaded it to our laptop, and that also runs XP, but is it because the monitor is smaller that the text is on the photos? Also when trying to play it on a 98 system, it is slow, and the fade is chunky, and the music doesn't play to the end. On my 2nd show TAEKWONDO, I noticed similar things regarding the fade and music. When I am creating a new show, do I need to take into consideration what system my customer may be playing this on? I more than likely will be doing my shows like the TKD show. I build my slides in PhotoShop 7, convert to jpg. I have had some requests to make shows for customers, and I would like them to be as they are created and run on my system, how do I accomplish this? Should I first ask my customer what operating system they use? or just hope for the best. I do put a lot of time into my shows because I'm a perfectionist (as I'm sure all of you are too) and would like my customers to see what I see. Is this possible? Thank you in advance for your comments and help
  3. I'm sure this has been addressed before, tried searching but no luck, must not have the right combination of key words. I've had a request from an individual who would like to play my TAEKWONDO show from his web site, where an individual can just click and it will play, rather that it having to be downloaded. This guy runs a pretty good site, and features some photographers, and runs video clips - all Taekwondo, of course. This would also be beneficial for those who work on web sites, to make tutorials to play or anything from a web site. This would be a great feature add on. Thanks in advance for any information.
  4. Hi all, I had been asked by a few people to create a slide show on what I actually shoot - Taekwondo. So here it is. http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/index.asp I also want to thank all who downloaded the show "Delaney" every day, she has me check the site to see how many "downloads" she has. She told me yesterday, gee mom, I may have to start signing autographs. I had to chuckle. She is pleased at the amount. She also hopes that it will help other parents and children that have problems, that with hard word and perserverance, you can overcome anything. She struggles, but that will be a life long thing. But she does know that she can do anything she puts her mind to. Thanks again Sue - The Taekwondo Photographer & Mom
  5. Hi all, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I'm trying to add a sound to a certain slide, and when I do a preview, it will not play. I was also wondering if it is possible to add sounds to different slides through the show. Instead of using music, just a wav file. Or is that the problem, it won't accept a wav file? Any info would be helpful.
  6. Sorry for posting too quick, did a search and found out what I needed, thanks anyways!
  7. Hi all, Bill just loaded my slide show titled Delaney. This is about my daughter, She has Aspergers Syndrome which is a form of Autism. She is high functioning, but has difficulties. Aspergers effects social skills, emotional problems, school problems, and she is awkward, not very graceful. But the so called experts said she couldn't do anything! We proved them wrong. This show is about her accomplishements in Taekwondo. It took her two years longer to achieve her black belt but she did it - with her dad! She has been to 3 Junior Olympics and medaled twice in sparring (over 6,000 competitors) I didn't use fancy backgrounds and my photos are not all the same size. But this show isn't about being pretty it's about what she did! I hope you like it. Sue Ryan http://www.beechbrook.com/pte/
  8. Hi all, I just got a Jornada, and was wondering if anyone new if a slide show would work on a PDA? I'm going to attempt it later, but was wondering if anyone out there new already, and if it does, any special hints on settings? Thanks in advance Sue Ryan
  9. Thanks again, I kind of thought that, but wasn't sure.
  10. Thank-You! it worked GREAT! But I do have a real dumb question. Example: If I do any editing on a photo from the original drive - My Network/My Photos, etc. Will the edited file be on the new drive, or are they separate files, and I will have to do the editing twice? Also, will this be taking more room on my drive? Thanks again, it is definately much easier to access the files this way.
  11. Hi all, I have a little problem locating my photos on my system. I work on Windows XP, my system is networked, and my photos are all loaded onto one of the network drives for upload to my web site. The problem is when I am trying to create a slide show, I can not locate these files. The network settings does not show under the C drive. I then have to copy all photos to a CD Rom and then do my work from the D drive. My PTE software and my photos are all on the same system, but they way it is called "My Network Places", then "My photos on ......" Is there an easier way to do this besides copying to CD to create my slide shows. Thanks in advance for your help.
  12. Hello all, I have been looking for a slide-show software that has the capabilities of turning off the printing ability. I did read a few posts and noticed that things are time related - that sounds great. I would like to produce a nice slide show or put photos on a cd with the .exe, but I don't want my customers to be able to print. Is that possible with this software. Also I noticed there are several different licensing versions. I will presently be using only one computer to make these files, hopefully in the future I'd have a larger staff than 1. Is there a difference between the licensing versions, the business vs the professional? I mostly shoot sports, but have been asked recently to do weddings and parties, thought this would be a nice addition to my borders on the pictures and the photo sculptures that I offer. Thank you in advance for your input Sue
