  1. Yachtsman1: which rig do you prefer? and whos the make on the audio card for the tower? i'm looking to pickone up and looking for suggestions.

DavyC: solid upgrade :)/> i'm a big fan of the ram and video card. decided on which OS your going to go with?

Might as well use the spare win7 Ultimate (64bit mode) OS I stashed away.

Re the soundcard.Despite the mobo specs, even a cheapo £20 card is going to improve on the onboard sound quality. Your requirements will dictate what you need.Your external hardware will limit what you will end up with.As with the motherboard specs, soundcard specs won't tell you all.Everything is relative, but something around the £50 mark

should do the trick, unless you need something exotic.

  2. Hey all thought it would be interesting to see what everyone's got "under the hood" for their video editing computers. Id be interested to see what everyones got! :)/>

    Heres my build:

    Case: CoolerMaster 430 Elite

    Motherboard: Sabertooth x79 LGA 2011

    RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX (4x4)

    CPU: Intel 3820

    Video Card: Nvidia GTX 560ti

    HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm

No problems so far can handle doing all of this at once without any lag or slowing down. I built this system myself :)/>

Am about to order some upgraded bits for a faulty/old PC.

Case Custom Water cooled (for a few hz more)

    Motherboard Gigabyte Z77X UD5H

    RAM 32gb Corsair Vengence

    CPU Intel I7-3770K

    Video Card Nvidia GTX670 4gb

HDD 2/2TB WD caviar blacks to suppliment some Samsungs and WD Raptors

    SSD Ocz 256GB Vertex 4

    Bluray/Dvd burners Pioneer/Plextor/Liteon.HP LP2575W Monitor.Focusrite Saffire Pro Audio Interface.Heil PR40mic.

  3. Colin,

It may seem a little unfair to talk of Xaver as though he is not here, but this is the second time he has asked me to continue PMs in German.

There is nothing lost in translation regarding the intent of his initial post.

All I can do is keep him right and tell him in the best possible way, to play nice.

    Davy

  4. There is no doubt about your advantage in the use of the English language. In Germany we say that we have seen a film, but most of us will have heard the soundtrack, as well. If you would like to do it, we could continue this discussion in German via PMs :)

Do not be concerned that you feel disadvantaged here. Most of your posts will be understood by the majority of members.

I’m sure that nobody will think you a dumpkopf.

Please do consider what you are trying to convey though, as jumping in with ‘Jack Boots’is not always recommended.

This will be appreciated by all and no doubt, things will read much better for you in future.

    Regards,

    Davy

  5. I can hardly believe this story about those cold hearted IAC villains. This being pension day and all.

Still, with no winning AV on show, it’s not possible to wear the Purple Toga of Excellence (PTE).

Some might scoff at Newbies up against an experienced moderator on an AV forum, but it’s still a well done from me. Winning at all costs has to be condoned.

Re the Youtube intelligent recognition software. Easy to beat a system when you know how. Much like a nod and a wink at the Great Northern.

  6. Mick,

Its a computer management error not a mediafire error.

Nurse Ratchett and the inmates of Sleepy Acres will no doubt be pleased that the forum now has a new Technical Guru.

There is no comeback from technically wrong or inappropriate answers,

but for the price of a few Diazepam and the odd reverse action laxative tablet, they are pure comedy gold.

Maybe if he behaves he can get to wear his 'Captains Hat'again.

  7. All,

Rewind to around 1300 and the Italian Poet Dante Alighieri pens the masterpiece, ‘Divine Comedy’.

Step forward to 1911 and Italian silent film makers produce L’Inferno which is loosely adapted from Dante’s work.

It runs for 70 minutes and makes more than $2 million in the US.

Step forward to about 2 days ago and I bags the film for the princely sum of £0.20. (30 cents)

So I edited the film down to 2 parts A & B. Each part lasts around 10 mins. A bit heavy around 150mb each, but it is all video.

No talking, No Spielberg effects and an awful load of gesticulating, but that’s all part of the fun.

Watched it at 5.30am in the morning, after a good nights sleep. Brilliant show, well done.

The music sure sets the tone.....did turn it up, probably scared my neighbours and woke them up!!!

    Colin

    Colin,

Watching at 5.30am is wimping out.

Maybe try using headphones after dark,to save the neighbours!

    Thanks for watching.

  9. Hi Davy,

Very spooky but, as usual, very well done - but I will not be keeping it, I like to sleep at night!

    Mick,

If only it were that simple. This is 'Maleovent' and once invited.....

You don't get to keep it.It gets to keep you. :(

Thanks for watching. Please watch it again around midnight. :)

    Davy

  10. All,

Warning Adult 18 material. It may still be offensive to some adults, so viewer discretion advised.

A trip to the dark side. To get maximum effect, please do the following.....

Play this at night, room darkened, kids to bed, no distractions, back door unlocked.

Turn up the volume and if you have a sub-woofer wind that up a bit too.

After watching go straight to bed and before drifting off to sleep, consider the unlocked back door.

    Sweet dreams.

    ‘Malevolent’ 13mb 1920x1200 duration min 2.22 (watched 3 times, that’s min 6.66)

    <...>

......The master is waiting for you.

    Davy
