  1. "However, there can be a problem with persons who have false teeth. False teeth cause a number of problems with speech, causing odd sharp sibilants and even whistles when pronouncing 's' and 'c' sounds, and from close listening to Barry's audio I wonder if he has false teeth. I apologise if this sounds a bit personal." - Colin

I listened with small auditorium-quality powered Rokit 5-inchers through a semi-professional PreSonus mixer and a 2011-year model desktop (and not a laptop with a built-in squeaker). It really does sound like false teeth.

    PS (postscriptum in latin)

If we can't take the mikey out of one another in friendly, non-degoratory, non-aggressive ways every so often, it is a sad AV world. At the same time some of us may learn a little about human behaviour. I certainly have.

  2. Dear Annon.

    ...

You have actually proved a great point as well. That when we put together anything creative there is a mist that comes down over our senses...

    Spot on!

    Anon only has 2 n's.

OED Sibilance = hissing, sounded with a hiss (esp. of letter or set of letters, as s, sh from Latin sibilare hiss.

  3. Dear Barry,

    First some praise:

Your steam train shots are beautiful.

I didn't hear one lip smack.

    Then some criticism:

You need a question mark after What is audio visual

The sharp breath intakes between sentences annoyed me more and more as the advert went on (and so easy to edit out)

Your sibilance is almost getting to be a problem

The synchronisation of text, images and monologue could be improved near the beginning.

  4. Hello Everyone,

All the best for 2011 with your AV efforts.

There are roughly 50 days until entries close (1st March) for this salon. If you are entering from overseas, please allow 20 days for postage. (The link to the competition site is in the first post of this thread.)

We are looking forward to superb PTE entries!

    Good luck,

    Jeff Morris LRPS APSSA

  5. To add to this query...

Is it possible to Customise a selection of slides, changing, for example, the Transition Effect but not changing the individual Effect Durations? The existing durations seem to be overriden by the value in the Duration box. This is not always what one wants.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  6. The bottom line is that I too find the search function has limitations. It is not pleasant to go begging for information on the forum after an unsuccessful search to be immediately pointed in the right direction by one of the very active and helpful moderators. The answer is there but the keys are missing.

    Regards, Jeff

  7. Hi all,

I don't automatically migrate to the latest version but if it will do the trick, then I will do so now.

I am using 6.5.beta 14. Some time ago I turned auto save OFF. Now trying to turn it ON (auto save every 1 minutes), the 'tick' mark does not come on and there does not seem to be an auto save copy in the project folder.

    Your help will be appreciated,

    Regards, Jeff

  8. May I add another suggestion on this topic?

At present autosave is set 'globally' for all projects. I would like to see it set per individual project if possible.

I recently made a tutorial AV where I saved the .pte in various states of completeness (with different names - save as) to show how an AV evolves. Although I usually have autosave 'on' for this I turned it off but then had to remember to toggle depending on which AV I was working at the time.

    Regards, jeff

  9. Hello Peter.

Thanks for passing on what you learnt this past weekend. I am sure everyone on the forum who could not be there appreciates your summary.

On a related point, where are the results of the judging posted? They are not on the Competition site yet.

    Regards, Jeff
