  1. I was using Al's Adjustor on a laptop while I was working out of town. I find it extremely useful. Thanks, Al!! Now that I am back home, I tried to use it on my desktop PC but I am having problems. When I put in the path to the PTE file, I get an error message that Excel encountered a problem and needs to close. If I manually drop & drag the pte file, rename the new spreadsheet to ptesource.xls, then press Ctrl-Shift-G to get the data, it works. But then when I try to create thumbnails (I have Easy Thumbnails installed), I get the same Excel error. The 1st time, I got a run-time error, but now, no matter what I do, Excel has an error and closes. I even manually created the thumbnails after renaming the original folder and creating a new folder with the same name as the Adjustor notes indicate. But then, when I click on the Dark Table button, Excel has the same error and closes. I can use other spreadsheets with no problem. I am sure the problem is with my PC, not Al's spreadsheet, but I am realy stumped as to how to fix it. I have downloaded a fresh copy of both the spreadsheet and Easy Thumbnails, but still have the problem. I made sure the Visual Basic settings were checked as per the instructions. I am running Excel 97 and Win XP. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! John L
  2. Thanks to all who replied. I did spend some time last night with PTE and I have decided to register it today. The comment from think(box) about Photoshop was right on - I'm still learning PS but would not want to be without it! And my favorite image printing app (Qimage) is often criticized for its interface by folks who have not taken a little time to use it. But the other main reason I'm going with PTE is this forum! I poked around yesterday and learned a lot about PTE form you all. I also found some of those great add-on utilities. I still hope for a thumbnail view in the slide list, but your comments about using another app to do the selecting and sorting make a lot of sense. Just like I do my photo editing in Photoshop but I print and do batch conversions in Qimage. Again, thanks for your help! John L
  3. I am evaluating slide show products. My first impression of PTE is that the interface is not as easy to use as some other apps. But after browsing this forum, it looks like a very powerful app with great support, once you learn it. I do wish it had thumnails instead of just file names in the slide list, and I would also like to see the ability to rotate images so I don't have to do it in another program. Can some of you who chose PTE over ProShow or some other app tell me why you chose PTE? Thanks a lot! John L
