  1. Hey Lin,

I've been here before <smile> I tried to follow your directions exactlt but it did not work. If you get this on Friday, please give me a buzz on my cell at 863-221-2372. My shows are tonight and tomorrow. I must be doing something wrong.

    thanks bud! artie

    Hi Artie,

Glad to see you over here!

From the Main Screen (not Objects and Animations screen), as Tom says, if you click on "Slide" (at the top of the screen) then on "Reset Personal Settings of All Slides," the program will automatically remove whatever "custom" settings you may have set on individual slides and set everything back to the default of 4 seconds per slide display.

You may then click on the "Project Options" button (bottom left quadrant of the screen) and on the "Main" tab you can set the display time to a different value (Time Interval for New Slides) if you wish and then click on "Set For Existing Slides" and all slides will be set to your new chosen value.

Then, if you wish to have certain slides display for different times, you can navigate to the slide where you want a different setting and use the "Customize Slide" button to override the universal setting you have programmed for all slides and only the presently selected slide will have the new setting. This way you can set certain slides for custom time displays as well as custom transitions, etc.

If you have problems with this just ask and I'll be glad to help you get the settings you want for any of your shows.

    Best regards,

    Lin

  2. Thanks Umberto. I solved my own problem thanks to a comment in the other post. (The images are already JPEGs.) When I double let click on an image in the Lightbox view, the Customize box comes up. On the MainTab it says Display Slide for (sec.) With all the problematic slides, this was set to zero. When I switch it to 4 seconds, all of the problems above are eliminated. I never once had this problem with previous versions.

So here is the question: Is there a way to customize all of the images at once as a batch so that I do not have to click on each one to check?

Below is the original problem that I have solved.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. later and love, Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART aka: artie

ps: I edited this so that folks would not be wasting their time.

I was able to solve my original problem (below) by starting from scratch with a new file but I am now experiencing two new problems.

I create my 1400 X 1050 Slide Show JPEGs via one of two actions, one on the office computer and one on the laptop. They are essentially the same (but the fact that they may be slightly different has no impact on the problem as you will see below).

I take a few images into Photoshop and run the action on them. I bring them to the folder for the program that I am creating. They all show up in the directory. I highlight them and hit "Add." That brings them to the Lightbox as it should. I can see them in the proper spot in the show on the Lightbox. On two different occasions when I hit Preview or when I saved and ran the slide shows, one of the slides did not appear in the show.

All slides optimized as TIFFs, all ran through the same action, all appear in the Lightbox, and on the two different occasions, one does not show up in either the Preview or the Saved Slide Show. Again, I am baffled.

And a possibly related issue; In Project Options I click on the box that says "Permit Control of Show Using Keyboard." (I always use a Logitech clicker to advance the slides.) It is my understanding that I should always be able to go back as far as I want by hitting the Left Arrow but whether I am in Preview or have saved the slide show, there comes a point where I can not longer go backwards. In various shows it always gets stuck at the same slide. I can always go forward.

I gotta say that the worst thing that I ever did was download a new version of Pix to Exe a few years back. My initial version, not sure which, made the shows perfectly every time. About three versions ago I began having problems that have been quite challenging as I make a living at photography.... I am running 16-bit Vista now.

  4. A simple question (too simple perhaps) when you made the changes to the show did you save the project again ?

I am not sure how you could not save it again, unless you never closed the window. Does the .pte file have a new date on it ?

BTW are you the "real" birdsasart ? (Not saying that you are not real, just that "birdsasart" is used by rather well internationally known photographer/instructor.

Hey JRR, I saved the project. I created a new .exe file. I did all of the same things that I have always done. And remember, when I hit preview the OLD SHOW ran not the show that I had arranged on the lightbox. IAC, I started from scratch and was able to create the program and another.

Yeah, I am Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART. Will anybody be in Dayton this weekend for my two shows <smile>

  5. birdsasart.

If you could ... please verify you actually have PicturesToExe Deluxe 6.0 displayed in the top left title bar when PTE program opens.

You can also verify which program version the actual project file was saved by opening the .pte project file in notepad/text editor and read the line data :

    CreationTool=PicturesToExe Deluxe 6.00

    Please note :

If you just rename the .pte filename without the assistance/use of PTE ... the actual Project Name will not change.

For the .pte project file to reflect the new Project Name ... use Save As with your new name. The newly saved .pte project file will then reflect the new Project Name.

Read the internal line data value :

    projectname=

    Also:

Test opening your prefered .pte project file by using File|Open from the program menu bar. Some new users get confused initially when the PTE program setting uses Load Last Used Project by default. See View|Advanced Settings in menu bar

Thanks a ton for your detailed help. I am running 6.0 Deluxe. As I am a computer dummy I am not sure that I could have followed your instructions but do appreciate your reply. I have a new problem that you might be able to help with and will start a new thread with that one.

  6. Hi,

You might have problems with an older copy of the project in the %TEMP% folder that is not currently writeable (that PTE is not able to update) for some reason.

I would start with a completely new project name so there are no cached project files and start over again.

This is my best guess, but easy enough to try.

    Tom

Thanks a ton for your help Tom. I was so desperate that I tried your approach and it worked. It took some extra work but I have since finished that show. I have a new problem and will post that as a new topic.

  7. I am desperate so am posting this here as well as in the Forum in hopes that somebody can help.

I have created a slide show and saved the slides in a file named LENSESSILDES

When I try to create the .exe file and name it LENSESTORUN, it creates an executable file. The huge problem is that the show that it saves is the PREVIOUS VERSION of the show that I saved a few days ago. I have tried 50 times. I am saving to the right directory after deleting the previous version. I have tried renaming it, saving it to a different location, ect. To no avail.

The same thing was happening with V5.6 so I upgraded to 6.0 and was amazed to see that it did the same thing. I have re-booted.

Also, when I hit Preview it shows the old show not the slides in the order that I have saved them and the order that I see when I hit F4 to toggle back and forth...

Am I nuts???? II do not think so.

Please help as I need to create three big slide shows in the next day or so.

Also, I am running windows 64-bit Vista BUT, I created a new program last week just as I always do and did and it worked...
