  1. Congratulations to all. This mutual co-operation in developing the helicopter rotors has been fascinating and a credit to the forum members concerned. When I produced "HMS Gloucester" on 10 May 2006, shortly after the introduction of version 5.0, I received criticism from one UK member as regards the speed of the vessel and other matters. It was quite a broadside and rather deflated my experiments with version 5.0 so I took it off my website. I am pleased that this has been allowed to develop without such unwarranted criticism. Keep up the good work and boo to the purists.

  2. Thanks Maureen. I too have used invisible buttons of various sizes over images in version 4.0 for a few years as recalled in a thread earlier this week. With my asking Igor if his buttons can be made invisible was a veiled question as to whether the full version 4.0 Object Editor was being released in V 5.0 beta#9.

  3. I wrote this in a topic "Buttons" on 28 December 2003:

"This thread asking about buttons and the Object Editor has prompted me to place on the Beechbrook site a very short demonstration sequence for opening a show. It is called “Intro Demo”. Thank you Bill for your perseverance in helping me in finally getting a sequence on your site.

"I am grateful to Keith and Ian for their initial advice on how to use the Object Editor and to Nobeefstu and CC for pointing me in the right direction in the use of invisible buttons. The thread “Object Editor – Invisible Button Bounding Box” relating to the latter was on 11 October 2003. All of the images were prepared in Photoshop."

I am still using the method in 4.48 for introducing my programmes and am patiently awaiting the Object Editor to be opened in 5.0. My "Intro Demo" is still on the Beechbrook site and a more recent version on page 6 (Links) of my website (bottom left club logo link). The latter is a large folder containing my whole workings at that time. Open the folder and set the sequence running by clicking on the 06 on a yellow background icon. When this intro sequence ends run your mouse over the portraits and where a hand appears there is a sequence from that person. Click to open. See also my original thread on this latter sequence entitled "Versions 4.0 and 5.0 - Interim Arrangements" initiated 25 August 2006.

  4. And what do you estimate the price should be? Look at the price of Photoshop and in particular any upgrades.

You say "But I believe it should not have to ‘bend over backwards’ to overcome this shortfall on the part of the Company." How insulting can you get after the excellent way in which Igor and his colleagues have developed this programme, aided and abetted by members of this forum.

You have been very verbose in your condemnation and I am sorry that you feel that way.

As regards "I think Version 5 should not be free", Igor has indicated already that there will be a charge for the full version.

  5. Shame on you Leonard, be reasonable. :) How much did you pay for PTE? How much would it cost to produce a manual for an ever changing programme? I know that there are devotees in your neck of the woods who probably would give hands on instruction in PTE. I have offered similar and pointed Sharon in the right direction. Mike has taken up the advice that I have given. Good luck.

As the playing of my sequences on a TV is not one of my priorities as against the projected images on a screen, I prefer to stick with what I have found to be successful, i.e. the copying of the MPEG file using Roxio. My only use for the facility is to create the odd DVD for my elder son to view on his TV. I feel sorry that I cannot spend more time on it at the moment, as I know that we need as much input as possible helping to develop the programme.

My settings for my blank burns were as below.

  7. I used similar settings as in your screen shot Ken, but failed miserably in trying to create a DVD+R using DVD Builder. I subsequently created a DVD from the saved *.mpg file using Roxio. I had no problems when DVD Builder was first introduced.

  8. You ask "In this instance, do you have ideas how I might use these same cutouts as .png in this sequence? ". The short answer is "Not particularly" but my mind conjured up a body tumbling and ending up hidden in a shower of snow. From what we have seen produced already with PTE 5.0 I am sure someone could do it. In my original experiments, back in May when PTE 5.0 Beta #1 was introduced, I made a dog tumble off a pile and disappear into the sea but it wasn't worthy of publication.

  9. A sequence full of joy and fun to brighten up the day. The music seemed to be coming to an end on a few occasions when I expected the sequence to end with a joyous tumble. The photography was excellent, but I am not sure if I liked the use of cut outs on a white background. Very useful images in themselves for use as *.png files in PTE 5.0. Nevertheless I enjoyed the experience. Thanks a lot and a Happy New Year to you too. :D
