  1. DietMP3 will compress wav, or MP3 files to as much as 75% and still have good audio and length of play. Cost is $15.00 but free to try. Maybe someone will be able to use this. Here is the URL http://www.eniacjia.com/dietmp3/ Gene
  2. Is there a way that I could put a PTE. exe file and also a SVCD using Ulead Movie Factory on the same disk. What I want to do is put a slide show on one disk that I can view on my computer and also my TV DVD player. Is this possible? I was successful in opening my exe file in UMF and then burn to disk and everything worked OK. I could view the slideshow on my TV, but when I try to burn the PTE exe file on the same disk it tells me the disk is closed or full. Thanks, Gordon
  3. I have recently downloaded the trial version of Ulead Movie Factory and found it worked very well in creating a DVD. The only problem I have is with the Movie Factory Menu I created AVI files for 5 PTE slideshows and loaded them into Movie Factory. In Movie Factory I created a Menu with a seperate Menu Item for each of my slideshows and then burnt the DVD. This all worked fine. I then took the DVD and put it into DVD player attached to the TV that worked, the menu was displayed, I selected one of the slideshows and that worked exactly as I expected it to. The problem occurred when the slide show had finished. I was expecting to return to the Menu but instead the next slideshow started up. I was able to get back to the menu by pressing the Menu button on my DVD remote and could then choose any of the slideshows and start again. At first I thought it was my fault as the exe version of the slideshows goes to a menu slideshow and I hadn't turned that off in PTE. However I made the Project option in PTE to stop when slideshow had finished, in all 5 slideshows, and burnt another DVD but got exactly the same result. Does anybody know if it is possible to return to the menu when a slideshow is finished, and if so what have I to set up to achieve this
  4. I made these last days several "experiences" with the output .avi and DVD. I have to say that the best results (for me) were with the software "TEMPGenc plus" (with good parameters) and then DVD author to create the DVD disk (now, we can convert - with a plugin- the sound in "Dolby Digital"). Certain used also TEMPGenc plus, then Ulead 3 with very good results. This "encoder" is very fine, but, yes, to use with "eagle's parameters" (the wizard is good). The problem is the pack'price (89$). But the results are "fantastic". I think TEMPGenc plus is one of the best encoders: it's only my opinion.
  5. SEE http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid...d,118523,00.asp if you are planning on a big show there are some figures in the article as to hdwe, space etc req'd. I knew i need a lot of space but didn't realize it was so much another eye opener ken
  6. I burnt my 1st DVD today. I converted a 65.5 MB PTE file to avi. From there I loaded it into the My DVD software which converted it into a 668 MB file. Burning the DVD took a total of 20 minutes from "Transcoding" thru Writing. There were 3 individual audio tracks. I played it on my Akai digital 42 inches TV and it played w/o a hitch from the transitions to all three audio tracks in a loop. On the TV, the default is to stretch the image to a 16:9 screen ratio but it has a option to size it to a 4:3 ratio, the same as a computer monitor which I used. The TV images ended up not quite as good quality as on a monitor but it was something I expected. The only gilch was with Object Editor images, say four small ones placed sequencially on the page with a border around them. On the TV in 4:3, it would place the one on the left against the extreme left margin of the screen and the one on the right against the exteme right margin. I'm not sure why but I have to think about a work around, not unless someone knows the answer right off the bat. All in all the DVD was easy to burn and of acceptable quality...Harvey
  7. After creating AVI in P2E I burn to DVD using ULead DVD Movie Factory2. Transitions etc are OK and generally so is playback quality. However I notice on some pictures that there is a sort shimmering effect normally but not always around patterns. Is this just something that happens in the encoding process, speed of burning etc. or can it be avoided. Has anyone come across this before and if so can you offer any words of advice. Gogs
  8. Greetings All, I have been making sequences for a while now using P2E and burning to SVCD but recently have been using Pinacle Instant CD/DVD which performs very well. However, I am having great difficulty in being able to configure a good menu with this program as I can't seem to be able to input text. Has anyone had any experience with this program? Any suggestions would be very welcome. Regards, Maurice Flower
  9. I'm new to the Forum, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction if you've had experience with both Sonic MyDVD and PicturesToExe. I have a couple of questions. 1. I've created a slideshow in PicturesToExe and partway through the slideshow, I've changed the music. After the AVI selection was made, I created a video DVD of the slideshow using MyDVD so that my family can view the show on their TVs. After I've created the DVD, I played it on my own DVD player and the first MP3 selection plays, but the second one doesn't. Are there some special effects and music transitions that do not translate correctly when the DVD is created? 2. MyDVD is kind of neat because there is an option to create submenus on a DVD. I envision being able to put several slideshows on a DVD as separate selections. But, in following the directions on how to burn AVI video files on DVD, one of the steps says to hold off clicking the "Finish" button in PicturesToExe until the disc is fully written. Is this correct, or can I select "Finish" for that slideshow, pull up another slideshow and continue to build the DVD? Thanks a bunch!
  10. I have produced a few slideshows on DVDs quite successfully , but now when I bring the AV1 file to be burnt with ulead I keep getting the message " DVDMF has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log has been created " . I have tried over several days but the same message reappears - it seems near impossible to get in touch with ulead technical assistance. Any ideas? Grobert
  11. I have the pictures loaded, the background music picked out. I have previewed the slide show. It is OK. Now Exactly how do I now burn this slide show to my CD-R? Thank you for your help.
  12. Greetings, I had been having problems with my MovieFactory2. Though it worked in the past, all of a sudden it was not recognizing the ".ptev" temporary file made by PTE. I think one solution given by other users was to unclick the "interlaced" choice in PTE. But this, I understand, might reduce the final quality of the DVD. Having tried everything else, I kept "interlaced" selected but I deselected the "Ulead" choice that Igor's instructions say to choose. Having done that, I then process it and get an AVI file that Ulead DOES recognize. I continued the process with ULead and made a very good looking DVD. So, for those who I see have been having the same problems that I have had, give this a try. Also, I notice that after creating the DVD, a file called "_difc.chk" is created in the same folder as the "dvd.iso" file. I don't burn directly to the DVD. I "Create a disk image file" first which gives me the "dvd.iso" file that I can use again in the future to burn more of the same slide show. But I would like to know what this "_difc.chk" file is. I don't see anyone mentioning it in their process. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate any help. Thanks... Gary
  13. Greetings... I have burned several DVDs with not too many problems. Now when I try to re-create an updated video I have previously made using Ulead MovieFactory 2, I can not. I go through the process and when I get to the point of calling up my Ulead MovieFactory2 and click on Add Video to find the PTE file, it does not read that PTE video temporary file. If I change it to All Files, and click on the .ptev file, I get "File Format Mismatch." I am pretty sure that is the process I successfully followed before. But now it does not work. I just upgraded to the PTE 4.32beta version. I don't think that is the problem but I don't know. Maybe my brain is getting worn out but I can't figure out what I might be doing wrong. Any help??? Thanks... Gary EDIT: P.S. I JUST TRIED CREATING A VIDEO AFTER UNCHECKING THE "INTERLACED VIDEO" CHOICE. NOW IN ULEAD, IT SHOWS THE FILE AS AN .AVI FILE. SO MAYBE IT IS A BUG IN 4.32???
  14. Another slight concern: Text, that I put on the left side of an image, gets cut off when viewing the DVD on the TV. It does not get cut off when Previewing the .exe file, nor does it get cut off when doing the Video Preview. I have the Screen Options set to 85% and font at 24 Arial. When I have a vertical image, and put some text (like "Mason du Compost") in the space to the left of the image, the "Ma" gets cut off. Looks fine on the PC screen but after I burn the DVD and look at it on the TV, the first couple letters were cut off. So I have to make the corrections and re-burn another DVD after moving the text more to the right or reducing the font size. What I would like to know is this a function of my TV or what? I don't like to have to go through the burning routine to find that I have a problem that a Preview did not show up. Any suggestions??? Thanks... Gary
  15. I am interested in creating a DVD that's optimized for a wide screen TV that has a 16:9 format (HDTV). I believe the type of DVD is called Anamorphic. Is there anyone out there that has any experience with this format? Any help will be appreciated. .....ken
  16. Sorry I put this in the other Forum by mistake...still learning how this Board works. I have a slideshow that have over 700 images. And it works just fine as an .exe. However, when I try to create a video of it, I get an error message of "not enough transition points." Well, I'm pretty sure there are plenty transition points. I am using the 'customize sychronization'. I get the error message whether I hit Create AVI or Preview. Can anyone tell me what might be going wrong??? Thanks... Gary
  17. I am new to burning SVCD and digital and I have not been able to determine what resolution I should use on projects to fill out the screen on the TV. I gave up on Ulead 2 and am now using Nero which works perfectly. What is the proper resolution and picture size to use. I have pictures 1024X768 200 dpi resolution. Have used 640X468 and have borders all the way around the pictures on the TV. Gene
  18. I have created a presentation that contains music for specific slides. In other words, I have customized slides 1, 10 and 20 to have different music. When I run the ".exe", the music changes when the appropriate slide is displayed. However, when I create an ".avi" file for a DVD, no music is played. If I remove the music from the 3 slides and put music under the "Project Options" button, the music plays for the DVD.
  19. Hi I am new to leaving a message. I believe I can create a CD of Exe to play in my DVD Player on the TV using Roxio. I don't have u-Lead. I can't create a DVD only a CD. Is this possible and how? I can create and prepare one in Roxio but I wan to use PicturestoExe and then burn it in Roxio. I am an 'old wrinklie grey surfer' and struggling with alll this. Thank you. Jackie
  20. The web site http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com has Ulead Moviefactory 2 for $29.95. You might have to search for it. Gene
  21. I have not seen this issue on the boards and thought I would pose a question before I uninstall the trial version of Movie Factory 3. PicturestoExe links you to this product, but I have not been able to get them to work together. The file type which is assigned to my project in PicstoExe is a PicturestoExe video for Ulead (*.ptev) file and is not recognized by Movie Factory 3, which is looking for a DMP Project (*.dwz) file. Any suggestions on how to make them work together?
  22. Continuing on from a previous thread. I downloaded the new version of Pictures to EXE 4.31 which was supposed to fix the following problem but in my case did not. Press the video button to convert to AVI file. Select DVD and Ulead Movie Factory 3. After about 2 hours up comes the following error. "Failed to reuse converted cache file (4570)" followed by " Unspecified error report i.d. 0x800411da(4570) Any ideas ?????
