  1. With all new versions of windows and the computers of today, it will use more resources! :)

Look at it this way.. take a computer 5 years ago.. it needed a few resources like a moderate hard drive,

CD drive, graphics card, memory, etc. Today..the computers has to have it because of multimedia, TV cards, massive

hard drives and memory, accelerated graphics, etc.

Computers today will again be extinct in a matter of months!

This is my two cents..this may or may not reflect the outcome of this discussion!

    Bart

I asked a question on MS web site whether it uses more resources than Vista, they didn't reply!!!!!!!

    Yachtsman1 :(

  2. Hello everyone...

As promised..my web site is up now and hopefully I will not hit the "wrong" key again! ;)

(if you see any mistakes, bugs, etc. please let me know and I will correct them ASAP)

It has a multimedia gallery, tutorial section, upload/download section and much more!

Thanks again for asking about it and hope to see you there! :)

    ENJOY,

    Bart

    btw..

I am in no way a multimedia expert..my site is there for everyone to learn from each other,

as well... I will learn from you, the member!

  3. Hello everyone..How are you? Fine I hope!! :)

I want to thank the ones that PM here and email me about what happened to my web site.

I was backing up the web site and I must have hit a wrong key or something.

I was doing this before I had major surgery and was trying to get it up and going before

    my surgery!

    ANYHOW..

I am "back on the saddle again" and restoring my web site. If all goes well and if

I am able to do so..it will be up and running by this weekend.

Again..thanks to everyone that asked and cared.

(You are one in a million..and a TRUE friend!)

Hope to see you there along with your discussions and videos!! :)

    ENJOY!!

  4. Hello..

I am not trying to stir up a hornets nest but I found this!

    MIDI Copyright FAQ

Copyright and music license laws apply to MIDI music just as they do to recordings and radio air-play. The following general information is based on my knowledge and understanding, however I am not a lawyer and make no claim as to its accuracy. If you plan on using music in any commercial enterprise please consult a lawyer experienced in the entertainment industry.

    Commercial MIDI tracks

Commercial MIDI production firms do not allow their songs to be played over the internet, and will often sue web sites who post their sequences. Damages for using commercial MIDI music without permission can run as high as $100,000 per song, so get permission from the sequencer.

    How do I file?

If you're a composer or performer in the US visit the official US Copyright Office for forms, instructions and general information about the copyright process.

    What is a music copyright?

Music copyrights can be broken down into two main categories: the rights of the composer and the rights of the recording artist, or performer. Composers earn royalties when a song is played; composers and performers both earn royalites when a recording is sold. These rights are generally enforced by music publishers for the composer and by record companies for the performer.

    Who controls Performer's rights?

Some MIDI songs have the sequencer's name embedded in them, and in other cases the performer is unknown. Many musicians who record MIDI songs provide free performance licenses, subject only to the condition that their music not be sold. MIDI DataBase has licenses and copyright assignment contracts for our music, but we cannot grant permission for others to copy or use these songs publicly.

    Who controls Composers rights?

The people who wrote the song. This information is almost always included in commercial recordings, but is not usually found in MIDI songs. BMI and ASCAP represent composers and collect license fees for playing music, whether on the radio, in a jukebox or over the internet. Both companies maintain on-line databases with song titles and composers' names. Music publishers represent composers to collect royalties when recordings are sold.

What rights does a Composer have?

First and foremost composers must be paid when songs are played or recordings are sold. Composers also control the use of their music in dramatic performances. For example, if you wish to include a song in a movie or commercial you must first request permission from the music publisher.

Can I use MIDI music on my web site?

Yes, if you have permission. In some cases the composer directly grants permission to play a song without charge. You can also negotiate a one-time fee with a songwriter for the rights to play a song. However most songwriters have contracted with BMI or ASCAP to collect license fees for public performances of their music.

How much are the license fees?

The minimum charge for playing music from the ASCAP repertory is $250 per year. The minimum charge for playing music from the BMI repertory is also $250 per year. If your site makes a substantial income from commercial advertisements or membership fees then additional charges might apply. ASCAP, for example, charges 1.615% of revenues or $250 whichever is greater. These amounts are for 2000 licenses and may increase in the future.

Do most web sites pay music license fees?

Unfortunately for songwriters, the answer today is no.

Why should I pay music license fees?

Because songwriters deserve to be paid for their work. There could also be substantial penalties for violating copyright law. The internet was ignored for several years by music publishers and licensing agencies, however this is changing rapidly.

    Who should I pay?

If you are only using one or two songs, verify which company collects license fees. For example "Norwegian Wood" by Lennon-McCartney is in the BMI catalog and "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer is in the ASCAP catalog. The MIDI DataBase site includes songs from both catalogs and pays license fees to both BMI and ASCAP. Please visit their web sites for specific information regarding internet licensing terms.

  6. Tony..

    I found the problem! :)

The above code needs to be in one line...

Try this link at my web site for the code.

    http://www.multimediaenthusiasts.com/google.txt

Sorry ..hope the above link will do it! :)

    ENJOY

    Bart

Doesn't do anything for me, if I copy the whole script for some reason, when I paste I just get "Code:" put in the Address bar and then I get an unfound page, if I leave out "Code:" and copy just the Java Script, I get a message saying Windows cannot find the Java Script. If I copy and paste just the Java Script and then put "Code: " before it, my PC just sits and thinks and doesn't do anything.

    Tony

  7. Here is something you need to try! :)

    A really cool Google trick!!

    1. Go to Google

    http://www.google.com

    2. Click "images" in the upper left corner

    3. Fill in "bikes, flowers, cars" or any other word. Click on "search images"

    4. You will get a page with a lot of images that are thumbnailed.

    5. Now delete the URL in the address bar

    ( Example:http://images.google.nl/images?hl=nl&q=flowers&btnG=Afbeeldingen+zoeken&gbv=2 )

    6. Copy the script below, and paste it in the adress bar

    Code:

    java script:R= 0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI= document.images ; DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i<DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=Math. sin(R*x1+ i*x2+x3)* x4+x5; DIS.top=Math. cos(R*y1+ i*y2+y3)* y4+y5}R++ }setInterval('A()',5); void(0)

    7. Press "Enter" on your keyboard

    8. Click on "refresh/reload" to return to the normal page!

    ENJOY!! :)

    Bart

  8. So you are looking to upgrade,

    Tell you what my friend,

I'll relate one of my stories,

    So you can defend,

    Against all of the annoyances,

    And all the bad times,

    Why don't you keep reading,

    My upgrade rhyme.

A new Hard Drive, graphics card, CD-ROM, and case,

Just to take the lead in the Jones's race,

A new Motherboard, CPU, new Memory too,

I stared on in horror as this evil bill grew,

    Pentium 4-1.8 gigahertz!

What? I exclaimed as my headache got worse,

    Won't run '98! I screamed with a gasp,

My favorite operating system, obsolete at last.

Here is a nice one, it has 'Intel Inside',

The salesman said as he swelled up with pride,

AMD, Cyrix, are last of the bunch,

It is now that damned Intel that packs the most punch,

A punch to the wallet I found out real fast,

My budget discarded, as they eyed my cash,

A new stick of RAM and a floppy drive too?

Why is it that my old stuff simply won't do?

'Oh' I said as I became more confused,

So much for keeping my old Pentium 2.

'All of the new ones use Pentium 4',

The shop-keeper said as I looked for the door,

No! I thought desperately as I looked around,

A 'budget' computer was not to be found!

Around this time I felt somewhat groggy,

And my memory of events is a little bit foggy,

I left the store in a rapture and with a rather large bill,

And a hole in my bank account my paycheck wouldn't fill.

When I hear someone mention an upgrade or two,

My brain starts to hurt, and I feel so confused,

To this day I cannot remember the lines I was fed,

Yet I still feel a shiver, and quiver with dread,

Don't get me wrong, the computer is great,

But if you don't need it, I advise you to wait,

Because soon enough a new one comes out,

And all the consumers will be heard to shout,

'But I just bought this one, and it's obsolete?'

I fear it is true my friends, it happened last week.

As computers get better, and cheaper to build,

It is we, the consumer, who must foot the bill,

As far as speed goes we shout 'We need more!',

Which is dictated to us, by the software stores,

It's a vicious cycle, this computer upgrade,

Once we complete it, all-new parts are made,

They are much faster, and better we're told,

So if we don't upgrade, we're out in the cold,

When you want to upgrade think of this rhyme,

And remember my advice to just bide your time.

Remember an upgrade is just to go faster,

And try to block out the fat cat's grim laughter,

For if you do not and you listen out of fear,

You will hear the hardware fat cat whisper 'An upgrade is near',

For all of my nay-saying, and doom filled rhyme,

I must say an upgrade can be good time to time,

Just do not obsess with the latest cool gear,

Or you will forever hear whispers 'An upgrade is near'

  9. Lin..

Nice footage of the wildlife and their surroundings!

It reminded me when I was stationed in OK and the buffalo came up to your car at

    Quartz Mountain, a wildlife resort/park.

I miss those days and wish I had the time and $$$ to go back out

to the mid-west to revisit! :)

Thanks for the sharing and remembrance of such!

  10. I paid $84.34 for this product but have received nothing in return. This is unacceptable and I will be taking further action

Please be patient. WnSoft is located in Russia and support here is one of the best on

    the internet today.

It is not WnSoft! It is Regnow and how they process your order!

Check your email closely for a attachment!!

Like the old saying..."Patience is virtue!

  11. Here is another alternative..

FLV and I think the video and audio is great! :)

There are several players that are free and can be used on websites to show videos.

I am in the process of adding it to my web site so the members

can upload a video and the members can view it online instead of downloading it.

You need a lot of bandwidth, because videos do take advantage of this.

    Hope this helps!

    ENJOY,

    Bart

  12. Hi Guys

I am teaching a colleague to use PTE, initially I used my computer until he was sure he could cope, he is 93 BTW.

Our oldest student is a gent of 83 years of age who has never used a computer or a typewriter in his life. It's a big challenge - but I'm enjoying it. More to the point - so is he!

    regards,

    Peter

Like the old saying here in the states:

"Never too late to teach a old dog new tricks!" :)

I think it is awesome to see our elders learning a new curve late in their life.

It will keep both their mental and physical capacity active.

I hope when I get to that age..I can still remember(at present, I still have a hard time remembering things!) :)

  13. I found a freeware program that can make a simple web gallery using your pictures

    and the "Lightbox" effect.

Below is a description of it:

LightBox JS Web Gallery Generator (formerly Pranas.NET Web Gallery Creator) is a very easy to use tool to create a simple, yet attractive image gallery from your photos. Just specify the input/output folders, the size of the thumbnails and full size image, and the program will do the rest. It will resize images, create the HTML pages - ready for you to use. It also includes an option to make the full-size original images available from the gallery, via a link that is pointing to the file. If you are familiar with CSS style sheet editing, you can further customize the pages in color and appearance, and use custom templates to integrate the gallery output.

    Attention! .NET Framework required!

You can download it from my web site!

    ENJOY,

    Bart

  14. OK...

    FYI

I hope I got ALL the bugs out at my web site!

Everyone is invited to come and join!

If you have any questions or concerns, pleas use the contact form. :)

    Hope to see you there!

    ENJOY,

    Bart

    btw..

    Remember.. I am not a muti-media guru..I am learning from you!! :)
