I have been following this topic for a while now as I have been considering buying a laptop with nVidea graphics but I am being a bit put off considering the problems being discussed on this forum.
Are nVidea graphics cards (assuming this problem gets resolved) the best or even recommended graphics cards for P2E or are Raedon graphics cards suitable and if so has anyone noticed any problems with these.

Thanks again. I had changed the setting to 0-255. Have also made sure nVidea is up to date although the graphics card is probably around 5-6 years old.
I am much happier now and comparing on my own PC the Exe files and mp4 videos there is very little or no difference.
I have never uploaded anything to Slideshow club before but might give that a thought.

Had a look at the nVidea Control Panel. The video settings were set to be controlled by the video player. Changed this to allow nVidea to control contrast and colour and it has made a huge difference. Improved greatly. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I have burned many discs with Pictures to Exe presentations, some as long as 50 minutes. Always found that DVD-R was best.
I have also noted, although I don't know if it is coincidence, That cheap DVD players always seemed to play them more consistently than the more expensive 'all singing and dancing' models.

Hi Dave thanks for getting back to me. Sorry for late reply, only managed to get back on computer just now, been away for most of the day.
My PTE settings are Enable Colour Management Recommended, this is ticked. sRGB selected.
When making mp4 settings are 1920x1080, High Quality, 60p, Pan and Scan Disabled.
I think part of the problem was that Windows Film and TV had been set as default video player. Changed this to Windows Media Player and it improved quite a bit. Also tried VLC and that and Media Player were about the same. Much better than Windows Films and TV which was quite rubbish but still not nearly as good as the Exe file.
I have nVidea so I will try the control panel and see if I can improve. My concern' however is submitting them for viewing on another computer and how they might look. This is why I prefer the Exe files as there seems to be some consistency.

There has been a lot of debate around the quality comparison with Exe files and mp4 with the majority saying there is no discernible difference.
I have tried making a couple of slideshows in mp4 at 60fps but find the contrast and colour saturation to be a bit lower than the exe file equivalent.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what might be wrong.

Thanks again for an excellent explanation. "A picture paints a thousand words" or in this case a video. There was a lot of long winded explanations on the forum which were a bit difficult to follow. Here it is succinctly explained in around one minute.

Isn't this all a bit academic. Changing the name won't make a lot of difference if files are still in exe format. I have a Windows PC which is loaded with exe files. In fact I believe I couldn't run the majority of my programs, if indeed not all, without them being started with an executable file.
If it is a question of concern being raised about downloading slideshows made in Pictures to Exe being in an executable format, perhaps a way to solve this is that any show made available for others to download should be made in mp4 format. But the creator can if they wish still run and present Exe files from their own computer.
From a name point of view I always refer to it, as do many others, as PTE. Why do we have to have a hang up about what the E stands for. So why not just PTE D Luxe and PTE Esssentials, software for making high quality Audio Visual and Video presentations.

I have seen these before and never cease to be amazed by them. I certainly think that the reminder will help many of PTE's new users to see the versatility of PTE.
I would also like thank you for making these freely available to users. Although I have not, as yet, used one of these styles I may have a try of putting something together for friends this Christmas.

You have obviously put a great deal of work into this and I think it is an excellent idea for promoting Pictures to Exe. At my own camera club I try to promote PTE as much as I can but I am still surprised by the number of people I come across using alternative software because they had not heard about PTE.
I didn't particularly mind the hand moving except that I was to busy watching it to notice the little videos playing. If it was possible to re-scale the example videos a little without encroaching on the main project with the writing I think it might help.

If they are all your own slideshows there is a way round it I think.
First of all in each project file set the slideshow under the Properties Tab under "action on mouse click" choose "Run Slideshow With Return." Then set up your menu with text or objects as described by the other guys up above. This will allow you to play them one at a time.
You could then copy each project file and give it another name i.e. Your First Show_2, Your Second Show_2 etc and under the Project Options Tab, Advanced, Run application or slideshow on exit and set Your first show to start Your second show, and second to start third etc. and on the final show under Project Options, Main, Show Settings "close show after last slide. You can then set up another text object called Play All. On Objects and Animation tab select your text and under common tab (top right) set action on mouse click to run slideshow. Set the path to the Your First Slideshow_1 and when you click the text play all this should run all slideshows consecutively.
It means having two copies of each of your slideshows, so not the most ideal solution, but depends on how important it is to you.

I have also purchased Affinity photo. I have had previous versions of Photoshop in the past starting with version 4 up to the first version of CC but the cost of continually upgrading put me off, particularly as I was a fairly light user and I didn't want to go down the route of subscription software. I still use Lightroom and also used Photoshop Elements. While elements was reasonably good it still had its limitations. Although I am still getting used to the new workflows in Affinity I have found it to be much better editing software than elements and certainly a lot closer to the full version of Photoshop. There are many powerful features that I am just starting to get to grips with and many more still to learn but there are a huge number of tutorial videos on youtube which makes me believe that there wont be much that Photoshop does that Affinity can't and at £49 who can argue with that.

I really enjoyed your slideshow. Particularly as my Great Uncle Richard Musgrave M.M. was killed at the battle of Arras in 1917 while fighting with the 7th Battalion Canadian Infantry (British Columbia Regiment). Although he has no known grave he is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial.
Edinburgh Castle is a remarkable setting and a place I know well as I live not to far away in the Scottish Borders.
