John,
Thank you for your help but I think I will let it down because its a huge amount of work and I don't know if it will be really useful.
And it will be even more difficult for me to do it in english.
I will keep the idea in mind though. May be one day...
-
Lin,
I found similar scripts. I didn't tried them though.
May be they are compatible with Photoshop CS :
Export photoshop layers to PNG
http://www.thatblokemike.com/blog/index.ph...iewcat&cat_id=5
(or direct link to download the script : www.thatblokemike.com/blog/files/PngExport.zip)
Layer to files script adding PNG support
http://ps-scripts.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=255
(I don't think this one crops the layers)
Let us know how they work with CS...

Ken, Steve
The concept is to make something not static which will grow litlle by little.
Everybody can participate to propose content (questions, answers or both).
The whole is under the responsability of administrators who approve or not the suggestions.
BUT it is NOT a forum.
It's really a FAQ, a knowledge base.
Each information is classified and is supposed to be easy to find.
But it's a lot of work.
I can't do it by myself. that's why I need help...
So, anybody's interested ?
-
Ron,
I made the test and you are right : I can see the lines in 1280x1024 but no problem in 1024x768.
It means that we have to be carefull with this point when doing our slideshows.
-
I'm looking for the best free script to install a knowledge base.
I found phpmyfaq and installed a version : http://thefreedom.free.fr/faq.
(it's only temporary, I will make a fresh installation at the end, once I'm sure this is the one I need).
I would like to know if any of you would be interested to help me to build this Knowledge base.
It could be done little by little, there is no rush.
I would create an admin profil for people who would help me...
So ?
-
Panos,
I'm really happy to see you here as a member of Wnsoft forum and as a user of PTE !
I can imagine what we can produce with your help... !
Btw, do you have skills about photoshop scripts ore are you "only" with actions ?
If you can help here...
-
Lin,
Just a suggestion, but may be you could ask for support on a forum dedicated to photoshop scripts, because I'm afraid there is not true specialist of photoshop scripts here.
-
Here is Jeff's asnwer. Unfortunately incompatible with CS.
DOM,No. The script is only compatible with CS2. Sorry. It'd take too much time
to make it work in both. I do my script work in free time - which I have
very little of at the present moment. If you want to debug it and touch it
up to work in CS, more power to you.
Sure. Feel free host or to pass the script around.
- Jeff
Anybody to adapt it for CS ?
-
My pleasure Al.
I was looking for this kind of tool for a long time too.
You can say thank you to the author here.
I downloaded the script (didn't even have to change the file name - it was already "jsx")
Did you download the script from his site or from mine ?
-
Lin,
I just send an email to the author (http://www.tranberry.com/contact/index.html) to ask him if his script is compatible with photoshop CS.
I gave him the link to this thread.
I will give you an update as soon as he replies...
-
Do you have to have the "Script Listening" plug-in installed to make it work??
No, I use it with photoshop CS2 without this plug-in.
And it's really great !
-
Yes Lin, you're perfectly right, I forgot to mention it.
Once downloaded, the file of the name is :
Export Layers To Files_PNG.jsx.txt
You have to remove the .txt extension.
=> Export Layers To Files_PNG.jsx
I will (temporarily ?) host the file on my site with its correct extension and will ask the author his permission.

A lot of photoshop actions are avalaible on the web (see in particular excellent actions on http://panosfx.com/) to process images
("puzzle", "mosaic", "Big Picture", etc...).
But at the end of the action, the different parts of the image are in layers and you have to save them manually one by one.
And if you save those layers as they are, they have a lot of transparency, which is a torture for medium video card, especially when there are a lot of objects in the same slide (see Lin Evan's "Puzzle - High Ram" demo or my "Big Picture" demo).
You can make the job manually but it's really painfull and it takes a lot of times.
I found an excellent script for Photoshop which automatically do the job for you !
It runs through every layer, crops them to size (optionnal) and saves them - with or without transparency (optional) - as a .png file to your chosen folder (with a name prefix of your choice) !!!
It saves you the time of going through each layer and doing it manually for each one.
Isn't life beautiful ?
This script can be donwloaded here : http://www.tranberry.com/photoshop/photosh...ayerstoPNG.html
Please, go visit http://www.tranberry.com/ and say "Thank you !" to Jeffrey, the author of this great script.
Installation
After downloading the script you must copy it into your Scripts folder.
On a PC, the default path is :
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop (CS or CS2)\Presets\Scripts\
After copying the script to this folder you'll need to quit and then restart Photoshop before the script appears in the File> Scripts menu.
To Run the Script
To run the script choose File> Scripts and select the script from the list, which will include any script file that was saved with a .js or .jsx extension and saved in the Presets/Scripts folder.
If you want to run the script that was saved in a different location, simply choose File> Scripts> Browse and navigate to the script.
Please, go visit http://www.tranberry.com/ and say "Thank you !" to Jeffrey, the author of this great script.
So, what do you think ?
UPDATE :
Once downloaded, the file of the name is :
Export Layers To Files_PNG.jsx.txt
You have to remove the .txt extension.
=> Export Layers To Files_PNG.jsx
I will (temporarily ?) host the file on my site with his correct extension and will ask the author his permission.

Dom did you receive the zip
ken
Hi Ken
Yes, thank you. Interesting base.
Do you plan to improve your system of links and to share it ?
-
Ken,
I got this error when I try to send you a PM :
"The following errors were found
This message can not be sent because the recipient has their personal messenger disabled or their personal messenger inbox is full.
This personal message has not been sent"
I'm afraid I didn't understand what you will send me but I'm quite sure it's interesting.
So here is my email address : thefreedom@[no_spam]free.fr
Thanks.
Dom.

John,
It's a very good idea ! but I don't know if it is feasible.
Because things you are interested in are not the same than an other one.
But may be somebody could start a FAQ.
Or what could be done is to collect those essential informations and to add them to the written tutorials Lin and Jeff started (something like an "extended version" tutorial).
Just suggestions...

Here is the link to download SHOWS
Just click on "Moments in Time" to download if you'd like to see it.
Hi Raydene,
May be you shouldn't be so quiet because the effect was very nice (same technique as bjc. You can find his tutorial including actions here).
PTE v5 has now new features to improve what was done manually before and make it directly IN PTE.
You should have a look at what other experiments you made.
Maybe there are some that could be great with v5.
No need to explain how you made, just post them, I'm sure there will always somebody to make it possible for everybody (with credit for you).

Dom,
it's an interesting demo, I have try it and have 2 requests about it :
First why do you work all level with "fit to screen" option, it's not so easy than with original mode for all levels and only the first one "Fit to screen"
You're right, I could work with "original" mode for objects on level 2 and under.
But I had no problem to work this way.
I think you're right for a mosaic effects with a lot of objects that you have to precisely adjust to make a whole single picture but I don't understand why it would be easier to work this way for this project in particular. Could please tell me why ? Thanks.
The second is that it would be better to use black and white jped files instead of the rectangles because there is no anti-aliasing with rectangle and there are steps on lines when it rotate, you will not have steps with the two jpg files.
You're right on this point too. There is no antialiasing for PTE Reactangles for the moment but it's only temporary.
See Igor's answer to my question on this point here
Note I am still working on cube to to a better work before sharing.
And I'm quite sure you gonna have clients !

My error--sorry Dominique.
See I even get confused on names.
Barbara
Hi Barbara,
No problem. you're right, Dominique is a firstname used for women and men as well.
I just hope other members were not disappointed that I'm a male !
Thanks to Al, Ken and Hawk for taking time to answer to your question about my files.
Let us know if you succeeded.
This .PTE file will not work as Images are missing ( thedom may have forgot to include them ? )
Hawk,
Thank you for pointing this out. You can read my answer here.
-
Jeff, Thank you for your interest.
Actually I forgot to includes the .jpg files in the zip.
(thanks to Hawk too who noticed it and post it in an other topic).
I uploaded a new version of my template (same link).
And I modified it a little bit because I noticed a very minor display bug in the previous version.
Everything should be ok now.
The funtion of the file "TheDom-BookPortrait-Small.jpg" is to be used as main image to show what the animation looks like and this, directly in the slide list in the main window.
The object can be removed (named "**REMOVE** (sample)" in the objects window (in the O/A window). Everything should work fine even if you remove it. Please, tell me if it doesn't.
Please, if you have any suggestion to improve the way templates are done, be my guest.
JPD is waiting for feedback too to release the final version of this 3D cube template.
-
Bjc,
I'm really impressed by the quality of your tutorials.
And this one is really excellent once again !
Can I host it on my site ?
I have an other request : as requested by Ron (see his comment on my site here), could you make a video tutorial with Camtasia on how to use one of my template.
As you know, I have a problem with Camtasia and the O/A window (and as you suggested may be because of my graphic card because you do not have the problem).
And I'm not enough fluent in english to record explanations in this language.
You really don't have to, but if you feel like it...
-
Bjc originally posted an effect of flipping images (see this post - demo : http://www.bjc100.co.uk/PTE/flip_image.zip).
The main job is done in a photo editor and the images are integrated in PTE.
Bjc posted an excellent tutorial to make such an effect.
Then Lin posted a "quick and dirty" demo to proove that this kind of effect can be done directly in PTE http://www.lin-evans.org/p2e/simulation.zip and he was right !
I improved the idea a little bit, added white frame to simulate a page, shadows to make a better 3D effect, ... and made my own demo :
[click on the picture to download the demo - 855 ko]
Now, two templates to make this "book" effect with your own pictures are avalaible :
- Book effect for pictures in landscape format (like in the demo above).
The archive includes a photoshop action to quickly process your pictures :
(184 Ko)
- Book effect with pictures in portrait format.
No need to proceed your pictures - They can be used directly in PTE !)
The archive includes a demo to see what it looks like :
(840 Ko)
-
I don't try to capture the video, I just want to see the objects in the O/A screen.
And bjc had no problem with his tutorial (he opens the O/A window too and everybody seems ok).
PHOTO CORNERS
in General Discussion
Posted
A simple mask to very quickly put white "photo corners" around your pictures, and this directly IN PTE.
No need to use a photo editor any more.

UPDATE : new "photo corners" added (created by tom 95521) : black, burlap, canvas, denim, gold, leather, marble, mystic, silver, slate, tape, wood...
