  1. It worked!!! I checked the specs on all my audio files downloaded from Amazon and, as you suggested, re-saved them all with a 192kbs bit rate- they were all different! Now the DVD burns correctly- a exact duplicate of the pte playback. I never realized that mp3 downloads were not "standard" - apparently pte has no problem playing them but in the conversion to DVD things got crazy... you could see something was amiss because of the added spaces in the waveform... Thank you so much for your everybody! Pete
  2. DG and Peter, First I want to sincerely thank you for all your valuable advice and for taking the time to try to help. Peter, your detaIed analyses of the audio is the first thing so far here that makes sense- no offense to the others. I did indeed download those songs at the request of the person for whom I was making that "memorial" project. I am very aware of the fact that wav files would be optimum but this was acceptable and necessary, as opposed to projects where I use my own symphonic music... I will start from scratch with the downloads and watch carefully not to mix sample rates, etc. I already know not to do that in any audio project and I just never thought that was happening. Thanks again everyone. I will give you an update when I'm done. Pete
  3. After burning the DVd I went back and checked the pte file- there is now a long blank space at the end of the clip but, again, it plays as if there was still a waveform there. I could swear that this changed after I burned the DVD- I don't think it looked like that before. I must be driving some of you nuts. Sorry! I work with audio all the time. This is totally baffling. pte is a very easy to use and straightforward program. Why would a DVD burnt with it not be an exact duplicate of what is played in the program?
  4. Ok, I took each alternate audio clip and transferred to a second audio track, as you did with Blue Danube, so no two consecutive songs shared the same track. Played beautifully in pte. Burned a DVD- even worse problems now. There is about a 10 second space between the 2nd and 3rd song on the DVD now, even though it looks fine, and plays fine in pte. This is getting very frustrating.
  5. Ha! Yes, I thought of doing that- thank you. But the whole problem IS THE DVD. I can fix it any number of ways in pte- that playback has never been an issue. i'll try it, burn a DVD, and let you know. Pete
  6. I appreciate the suggestion but I just opened the current audio clips in Cool Edit Pro and they are in mp3 CBR format. Therefore there must be another explanation. I want to reiterate something in hopes someone smarter than me will use it as a clue. The second "glitch" where a song is getting chopped off and the next song beginning, is still there, even though I moved the second song to start a little later. It is EXACTLY the same problem- in other words it is as if I never made the change. Again, it seems like the DVD builder is accessing a previous version of the audio track.
  7. OK- I see what you are seeing. A couple od songs actually play past the visible sound wave. This is totally unexplainable. Pte is actually displaying a "compressed" waveform (not to be confused with compression as in audio processing) but playing as if the waveform was the correct length. ????? The sound files were downloaded from Amazon as mp3s, edited a bit and saved as mp3pro in Cool Edit Pro, then dragged to the timeline.
  8. Ok- I have uploaded the project, as per your instructions, to Dropbox, named New Version. The two errors whenever I burn a DVD occur at: 1- about 9 minutes in- after Blue Danube Waltz ends, there as a long pause before the next song , Just a Closer Walk, begins. 2- about 11 minutes 30 seconds in- the song Just a Closer Walk gets chopped of about 5 seconds from the end and Blue Spanish Eyes starts. This ONLY happens in the DVD- in the file I sent you everything will play perfectly. Before someone asks me the obvious question... I did delete the song Just a Closer Look, saved the project, then added it back with a new filename, and even saved the pte project with a new filename, before sending this to you, just to "try everything". here is the link- https://www.dropbox.com/s/9edeump4kuqetbm/New%20Version_Nov17-2014_10-16-28.zip?dl=0 I will be deeply grateful if anyone can find something embedded in there that explains it.
  9. Dave gee- thank you. I will attempt to do that. Yachtsman- thanks for your replies. However, there were no Error Messages in the problem I am having with pte so that is why I am not posting any!
  10. I changed the rar file to extension .zip and it attached. (Yes, RAR is another type of zip file ...) this hopefully will she some light. Thanks for all replies New Version.zip
  11. I do not understand this reply-..... yachtsman- I appreciate you trying to help me but you keep implying that my problem has something to do with the JPegs or setup. My problem is that THE AUDIO TRACK I CAN SEE AND HEAR while playing the slideshow in pte IS DIFFERENT than the audio I hear on the DVD. I see nothing in the Video Builder screen, or options, that allows me to choose which audio file it is using when burning the DVD. The project (pte file) that shows at the bottom of the screen when I publish is the correct file but the audio on the finished DVDis from a previous version. I don't know how to make this any clearer.
  12. Not sure I understand. I can certainly send a few of the photos (jpegs) but the problems are not anything to do with the photos- they are both audio problems, as I described. Early on in this project I swapped photos at the point in time where the audio glitches were happening and that did not fix it, so the difference in the audio between playing the pte and playing the DVD can't be "attached" to any photos. I hope i've explained the problem clearly. Bear i mind that this is the 3rd large project that i've created in pte. The last one had several videos as well. However, this is the first one that contains more than 2 audio clips and crossfades. I appreciate you sticking with me, mortals! I am hoping that someone can explain this as a Windows or DVD burning (video builder) problem, not a pte problem per se. It seems to me that whenever I create the DVD, an older audio file stored somewhere on my drive is being accessed insterad of the audio track that is in the project, which contains the corrections. After all, if it is a photo problem, Project Options issue, etc. why would the pte file audio track play correctly on my computer? It should have the same unresolved problems whether I play it in pte, or DVD.
  13. The zipped (.rar) file is pretty small- it isn't a size problem...
  14. I zipped it- I still get that message.... Why do I need "permission" to send an attachment? Wow- now I have two mysteries instead of one. This is getting interesting
  15. I am getting message saying I am not permitted to attach this type of file.... (pte). It's only 176kb. Why can't I attach it?
  16. Synchronize Soundtrack and Slides is checked. I will try to post the pte file in a while. Thank you very much.
  17. Yes- that would sound confusing so let me explain. I thought I had fixed it but it still had problems. This the same pte ,saved with a new file name, with added photos, and adjusted crossfades of the audio- basically a new file. If it did not play correctly when I just watch it in pte I could easily fix it. I am hoping someone can explain how a DVD burnt from a pte file can be different than the same pte played on the computer.
  18. I only have one file with that name. I have searched my drive. I have older versions but they have a different name- X1.pte, X2.pte X3.pte....... If it helps, here are the problems in detail- Problem 1- two songs with about a 3 second crossfade play perfectly in pte. The DVD burned has the first song with about 5 seconds of it's ending chopped off and the next song immediately starting at full volume. Problem 2- two songs with one starting a second after the first has ended. In the DVD there is about a 5 second space between them. Again, I know how to fix these problems in the audio track and I've done it multiple times, but every DVD still has them. Bear in mind that I use other programs like NERO, Cool Edit Pro, etc (all audio programs) and I am very well versed on audio processing.. Also understand that there are no video clips in this file- nothing that has any audio "attached" to it.
  19. In the timeline I can see the audio clips are correct and, like I said, it plays fine. It is obviously happening in pte only when I "publish" .
  20. Yachtman, I renamed the pte, and saved, after making the corrections. I then published the DVD. I have actually done this twice so I have 3 pte files now. All three pte files (with different names) all play perfectly when I watch them in the program. But every DVD published from them has none of the audio corrections. Thanks...
  21. Thanks to all who tried to suggest solutions but this is happening again. I have literally tried everything. I have a .pte file that I corrected some crossfades (audio) and inserted new photos into. It plays correctly when I play iy in PTE. But whenever I publish that file as a DVD, using the built-in Video Builder, the DVD uses the audio track that has errors- an older version of the audio, it seems. I tried deleting all my audio clips and saving the file with no audio, the reinserting the clips, and saving the new file under a different name. Again, watching it in PTE everything is fine.and everything is fine. But, again, when I publish the DVD, it plays with the old audio track with the same errors I already corrected! I have also published as an MP4 file and tried another program, DVD Flick, to create a DVD- same problem! Igor, I don't know if I can really send all the photos and audio files- it's pretty huge. There has to be some explanation.
  22. Well, I believe I found the issue.... hope this helps anyone else who ever encounters this glitch. This all started after I took a saved project and inserted some photos and moved a song so it crossfaded slightly differently with the next. I opened Project Options and looked at the Audio files. The "chopped off" song showed a length of 2min 35sec. I then opened that song in a separate audio program and it showed a length of 2min 40sec. I guess the weirdest part is that this only came into play when DVD's or AVI were published. So I don't truly understand why, but once I opened up that audio clip in Project Options and typed in a longer length, it now works. Why it ever changed to shorter time in the first place I don't know- just happy that I fixed it.
  23. Thanks- I just sent you the file (created support ticket...).The chopped off song (which plays fine on its own ) keeps getting chopped off instead of crossfading- only on the published DVD or avi, not the exe or when playing the pte file. I don't understand how the soundtrack on a published DVD can be anything but an exact copy of the pte file. But it is, no matter what I do to correct it.
  24. Thanks for the responses- first, I added the mp3 files by dragging them to the timeline audio track and, like i said, when I play the project, it is correct. But now I am realizing that it's not just the soundtrack- when I burn a DVD from Vidseo Builder, the DVD is actually burning asn older version of the project, even though the Video builder window only has the updated pte file added. The updated pte has a different name from the older one so this is unexplainable. Same thing happens when I create an .avi file. The only thing I can publish which comes out correctly is the .exe file.
  25. Very strange problem I hope someone can solve. I deleted my audio track from an existing slideshow because a song was somehow getting chopped off and inserted a new audio track (same songs but different crossfades, etc). When I publish an EXE it plays as it should, and when I preview it just playing the project on my computer it also plays correctly, but whenever I burn a DVD it uses the old defective audio track! I have rebooted, saved the project in a different folder, etc many imes but the burnt DVd always burns with the cefective (old) soundtrack.
