  1. Looks to me like Win 10 hasn't associated your files with PTE.  Try going to properties on one of the files and where it says "Open With" point it to the PTE EXE file.  That MAY (maybe, with luck) resolve the issue.  But, then again . . .

  2. Thanks Ken!

Hope it's OK for your southern neighbors to read a Canadian Photo magazine.  ;-)  The section with African photos is making me homesick for my years in Africa.  In my day film was expensive and hard to get there, so my photos were too few. Oh, how I wish we'd had digital cameras back then, not to mention digital darkrooms instead of darkness, chemicals and no ctrl-z.  I'm really enjoying this mag.

  3. AHA!  That's what I did with the example I posted on FB.  At first I'd thought I'd need trimmed png files and that was going to be a problem.  Then I read something you'd written about using full sized pngs in a puzzle animation you'd done in the past and things clicked.  I'll be playing around with assembling from outside in as well as inside out and having the puzzle assembled on different planes.  If I can get a clean enough style, I'll post it for others to try and to modify.  Must look at some of the other puzzle actions, too.  May as well attach that first try video here as well.  Might inspire others to do more elegant versions.

  4. I think it's an USA vs Australia thing.  ;-)  Our current president's influence has extended to "cyber." The funny thing is that sometimes Norton dislikes something just because it's new.  They target files because Norton hasn't seen them often enough.  There are days I'm tempted to follow your advice.  And then it saves me from something that is really problematic.  I'm now saving up to get some more videos in this new series of tutorials.  Then I can do battle with Norton again.  And win again!

  5. Thank you, Barry, for the new tutorials you've produced.  I just finished the first one I've purchased.  I must observe that for some reason Norton has declared war on you.  Every time I download a demo or anything from you, Norton insists upon quarantining the file and  claiming it has a virus.  Usually it's fairly straight forward to have it restored and I can get on enjoying your production.  This time was a bugger.  I'd restore the autorun.exe file and when I tried to run it, Norton would but in even though I'd told it to leave the file alone.  I finally got it sorted out and was the effort ever worth it.  I got the 2nd set on animations, styles and transitions.  Boy have I learned a lot!  It is worth every $ I paid and more (but don't raise the prices -- I'm retired on limited income and want to be able to get more tutorials).  I'll be reviewing these lessons many times as I try to master the things you included.  I may even move toward proficiency with PTE because of you.  Thanks again!  I've got to start working on an album that I've envisioned before but haven't had a clue of how to do some of the simple things needed to make it.  Now I think I can do it.

  6. I'm not knowledgeable or proficient enough with PTE to delve into the world of beta testing it.  I have, however, been following the posts related to the various beta versions moving toward the finished program.  I want to say a big "Thank YOU" to all who have been working so hard testing the program so that when we beginners plunge in to using it, we will find success in producing great shows.  Your investment of time and effort has not gone unnoticed nor unappreciated.  Once again, "Thank you ALL!"

  7. Georges, I'm also awaiting the wedding album.  Dom said it would be ready a few weeks ago, but it seems there's been a long delay.  I keep bugging him about it (I hope gently).  From the preview he gave of the work in progress on the new version, it'll be worth the wait.  Maybe when he sees more demand for it, he'll be inspired to overcome the barriers delaying it.

  8. Personally, I prefer to wait for a product that works as it should than rush for one full of bugs.  I also think we should all thank the beta testers who dig into new versions of programs trying to push the program to the limit in order to find what problems are lurking within waiting to jump on a busy user when he least has time to deal with bugs.

  9. Lin, I love your gramophone.  Now, someone needs to combine all these ideas and add a special touch to them for a spectacular slide show.  It's above my skill set, but you experts should rise to the challenge. ;-)

  10. Here's my version of the record player slide show.  I used the PanosFX Vinyl Record PS action.  I don't know how to get all the finishing touches the PTE masters accomplish, but maybe this will give you experts some ideas that you can improve upon.

  11. Hi Dom,

Looks like both of us are playing with the record concept.  I'm almost finished with a short demo of a record album derived from the PanosFX Vinyl Record action.  It won't have all the neat details you've got, but you might want to improve upon it when I get it posted.

  12. Hi Dom, thanks for the update on things.  The wedding album is definitely worth waiting for another week or so. The pages where the photo moves to fill the screen is an effect I was looking for.  Some of the other effects are pleasant surprises I'd not thought of.  If I may make a request, could you incorporate a way to display portrait format photos as well as landscape?  I seldom encounter a shoot that is composed entirely of landscape layout shots.

I'd decided that I must have the wall style with or without squares.  I'll be purchasing it today.  It's very interesting.
