  1. Lin and Ken, you are both absolutely correct! I never noticed the version number. How can I stop that from happening? It seems that when I click on any PTE project at this point Version 4 tries to open it. Thank you so much!! (Whew!) Peggy
  2. I am preparing for a seminar which is going to take place in three hours, and was going to tweak the opening slide show I had prepared, and suddenly PTE does not recognize my project! I get an "Information" window which says "Project Files Created with Pictures to Exe v1.00-v1.60 are not supported now." I am using Vista, and have the latest version of PTE 5.5 deluxe. HELP!!!!! Thanks, Peggy
  3. This worked, thank you so much! Now how do I upgrade to the Deluxe? I've got the old version installed, and have downloaded the new version. . . what do I do next?
  4. I've enjoyed Pictures to Exe for years, and have version 4. something (I think 4.2) installed on my old (seven years old!!) PC, running XP. I've recently purchased a new computer running Vista, and would like to install P2Exe on that. I do understand that I originally purchased a license to use it on 1 computer, and will happily uninstall it on the old computer if I can install it on the Vista machine. If I was given an installation code I've long since lost it. I do have the application on a CD, but it doesn't seem to have an installation file. In addition, I'd like to upgrade to Deluxe on the Vista machine. Do I have to purchase the full version as new, or can I get the Deluxe version as an upgrade? Thanks, Peggy
  5. When I use a P2Exe presentation I do a screen capture of the. . . okay, I'm not sure I know the term, but it's the really big "light box" screen. I can make notes as needed on the print out, but at least that way I am reminded of what slide comes next, as I never use actual notes. Then I bind the printouts into a little booklet, and that's what I speak from! Works great. (LOVE P2Exe!!!! -- hey, we should print up T-Shirts that say that! I'm a fan. . . .) Peggy
  6. Okay, thanks for the info -- you've saved me hours of trying, and blaming it on myself for not "getting it!" Peggy
  7. I've been researching for the last 5 months for a project that I will be presenting in less than two weeks and I am now in the stage of actually forming the slide show -- this is my favorite part! I've downloaded the little application "Reflet," which allows you to create a gif that appears to be a moving reflection in water, and have my title slide prepared that way. Hmm. When I preview the image it is static, which doesn't mean that it will be static if I know how to manage it properly, which I obviously don't . . . So, can I use this application to produce images for my PTE presentation? Can anyone help? Many thanks in advance, Peggy
  8. . . . Actually, when I went to download the newest version of IrfanView I found a tiny application (freeware) called "pic2Icon" which does it in a heartbeat! Thanks guys, this is such a great group, and such an AWESOME program to play with! Peggy
  9. I have so enjoyed working with P2Exe, and the newest version is a dream! WOW! I gave a 90 minute seminar using it last month, and people couldn't understand how I had done it. There's so much FREEDOM! What I've never done and can't figure out how to do is make an icon for my exe file FROM the file. I'm sure I'm missing something really simple and basic but I can't find the instructions anywhere. Many thanks, Peggy
  10. GREAT suggestions -- many thanks! I'm pretty certain that with a couple of these techniques I won't have a problem. I'm going to do a run-through for my husband and two friends on this coming Sunday and will try the suggestions. First and foremost, 5000 seconds. After that I'll try both "pause" and "back," and then the forward and back arrows. I'm a happy camper! Peggy
  11. Custom animation etc. from PPT is one thing, but Bill G really likes his applications to be in control at all times. He has ALWAYS thought that he was smarter than you are, and that his applications "know" what you want. As a result PowerPoint always looks like PowerPoint. This presentation that I'm doing with PTE does not. It looks like a combination of the old fashioned 35mm slide show and a PTE presentation, which is an interesting combination believe me! Much more versatile and personalized than Bill G can give me. As for multiple images I can do an amazing array of stuff in PhotoShop, with layers and "snapshots," then more layers etc. I think I like the idea of setting the time at 5000 seconds and will try that. I just don't want the thing running away with me when I'm in the middle of it! Thanks -- any other suggestions or comments? Peggy
  12. In just a bit over a week I will be presenting a 90 minute seminar and will be using a slide show that I've produced in P2EXE. Most "sensible" people would use PowerPoint, but I LOVE P2EXE, and am comfortable with the way I can handle the image area. I've done graphics, brought in photos, added type, etc., etc., and hope that I will be able to wow them with what I've done. And I am totally delighted by the new upgrade which lets me use the "light table" to sort my slides! Here's my concern: In the setup I have not set a specific duration for each slide, but will instead be clicking forward or reverse to show the next slide or back up. This is as I'd like it. But in previewing the show I've found that if I click several slides quickly in sequence P2EXE will seem to say, "Aha! I understand what you want, let me just take over here!" and it will take that pace of slide changes until I scramble to stop it -- which stops the show. Am I in danger of having that occur when I'm standing up there in front of 50 people? If so is there a way to "tell it" NEVER run automatically, unless I SPECIFICALLY tell you otherwise? Would appreciate advice on this -- I REFUSE to use PowerPoint when there is this lovely application which is so slick and fun and easy! Thank you, Thank you! Peggy
  13. Yes, Jim HAS hit the nail on the head! Thanks! There was one slide in the middle of it all that was tagged for a different piece of music (leftovers from the beginning I think.) WHEW!!!! The final showing of this piece is on Sunday the 12th of September. I'm still pulling pictures together, have finally gotten the music where I want it . . . they've even invited me to this very important (and Posh!) function. . . I've always been passionate about putting these shows together and have half a dozen that are fun, easy to share, full of joy (and great pictures) and suddenly I find this one dragging me down. I think it's because my vision isn't necessarily their vision. Although they love everything I've done, each decision I make is tempered by my knowing that they will judge it, and maybe not enjoy it. It's a good show, nonetheless, and I am, as ever, a loyal fan of P2E -- Many thanks to all who have contributed to making it so awesome! Peggy
  14. Hope you all can help . . . this is my first post, although P2E is one of my all time favorite applications. I just never have had any problems, or have been able to find answers in the history. Tomorrow I'm previewing a show that I've prepared for a 100th birthday party for a friend's grandmother, and tonight I am suddenly getting an error that says "You should disable personalized music of slides to activate synchronization by music." I've increased the length of my music by using Audacity and lame (thank you all!) and it plays correctly in Real Player. Is it possible that there is some hidden connection that I've lost track of in the show? If so, how would I find it short of going through every slide (of which there are many!) Many thanks in advance . . . Peggy Bjarno
  15. I am still very much (VERY much!) a newbie at this but have already discovered the joys of sharing my pictures this way. Some time in the last two weeks or so, since the last week of February, I remember seeing a post about an application that someone had come up with as sort of an "add-on" to PTE. It looked like it was a basic and wonderfully easy sound editing application that was essentially tailored to work with PTE. Does anyone else remember it? Can you send me a link, point me in the right direction? Many Thanks, Peggy B
