  1. Hi Lin Thanks for the response. Sorry, I should have given more info - one too many glasses of wine last night I think... Anyway, Regnow is working today so I've paid for the upgrade and got a new registration key. Jotplus (actually now called Jot + Notes).... http://www.kingstairs.com/ A hierarchical note manager or cardfile type program. I keep all my passwords, log-on details, program keys and serial numbers in one of these files, so I know they are all in the one place and I can then just copy and paste when needed. I had the PtoE key in the file and I now realise that I probably could have just pasted it into a notepad file with the *.txt extension. So problem now sorted and I'll crawl back under my rock....
  2. I've downloaded the latest version and want to pay for the upgrade to the deluxe, but... 1) I just keep getting a 'timed out' error on Regnow after I click the 'order now' button. 2) I have a key for the earlier version in a 'jotplus' file - how do I get this into the program (I can't find the original email)? 3) I've tried searching this forum for answers but all I get is a blank screen with 'done' at the bottom. Any help would be appreciated - feeling very frustrated at the moment! Vince
  3. I use iMatch. It will do batch keywording (and has a lot more batch processing options) and will keep track of your images on CD etc. but you don't actually have to have the CD in the drive for it search as it keeps thumbnails cached in the database. You can assign categories to images and it will even search for images based on a simple sketch.
  4. That's it.. Thanks for the tip Ken. Connected with freeserve and got the correct file. Bloody NTL ... Thanks Igor.
  5. You are probably right Ken, though I downloaded the beta 14 version last night with no problems so why has it gone back to 4.20? I'm with ntl (uk) though and I've had similar strange things happen. Someone on a photographic site was complaining about his photos being copied on a Chinese site but I couldn't see any graphics with my ntl broadband connection. I tried it on a dial-up connection with freeserve and they appeared - disconnected from the dial-up, hit refresh and the graphics disappeared again. Actually, that's given me an idea... I'll try the link above with a dial-up connection.
  6. When I click on the link above I'm getting version 4.20 ... ??
  7. I've installed SP2 on both my main computer and my laptop. No problems with the install and all programs running fine.
  8. You might like to have a look at Pixort. It's also free. It's aimed at the initial sort of a batch of images. You can assign categories of 1 to 5 (say for keepers to bin-jobs) and assign them to subdirectories for each level. You can have two or more images open at once, for comparison, and zoom them all at the same time. Biggest advantage for me is that it will work with RAW files. For a really serious image database you can't beat iMatch. Not free but not expensive either.
  9. There are several projectors on the market now, such as this Sony which will take memory sticks or similar.
  10. chuff verb tr.; usually passive (British) (slang) to please or delight example: he was chuffed by his pay rise ETYMOLOGY: probably from chuff (adj) - pleased, happy (earlier: chubby), from C16 chuff (obsolete n) a fat cheek, (of unknown origin) chuffed - adjective My comment - probably heard more in the north of England, certainly quite common in my part of the world (Manchester).
  11. 'Wonderland' by Ralph Smith (I think) uses a Flash animation at the start. It's on page 2 at the beechbrook site. It was fine the first time I looked at it but when I tried it just now it was shifted off to the right side of the screen...
  12. Thanks for persevering Ron - glad you liked it. No particular reason to include the icon. I originally made it just so I could have it on my desktop. I included it in the zip in case any of my friends who have downloaded it also wanted to do the same thing.
  13. Thanks for the compliments folks. Sorry for the delayed reply - computer went down over the weekend (kept continuously re-booting). Luckily it was just the power supply unit gone faulty (5 volt rail down to 4.78) and not a re-format/re-install job as I was expecting. Phew.... Lumenlux - Touching the Void Yes, I read the book when it first came out but I haven't seen the movie yet. Ron, got this from my ISP - make of it what you will... The speed depends on the websites hosting company's backbone connection to the internet and their user contention ratio. As more users are connected to the server then each gets a share of the available bandwidth. There is nothing much you can do to speed it up. It would be more dependant on the users ISP not the hoster of the site. User contention ratio is a big factor with broadband if there are a lot of users active.
  14. Thanks for letting me know Barbara - and also thanks for the compliments. My site was down for while this morning so maybe there was a problem with the server which has now been (I hope) fixed.
