  1. I've just upgraded to 11 and notice that Fade transition no longer seems to work, both with a new show and with one imported from v10. Instead of the usual 'dip to black' effect, which is brilliantly useful, I now get a straight dissolve. Several other transition problems have been noted on the forum, so I wonder if there is something more general? BTW I rarely use much other than Dissolve or Fade, so I can't say I have tested other transitions. Best ... Ken
  2. Hi Dave Got that from the documentation. The reason for asking here is that those commands do not appear when I right-click the video in the timeline, nor in the file list. ... Ken
  3. Hi there Is anyone able to enlighten as to why the 'Separate Audio from Video' and 'Trim ... Video' commands do not appear for any of the half dozen video clips I have included in a new piece, please? PTE 10.0.10 / 6. I have dropped the clips into the timeline in all ways possible, and I have tried inserting them as .mp4 and converted clips. Best regards and thabnks. ... Ken
  4. Thanks for your reply Igor. Zoom does have a control for optimising video, which improves things a little but it doesn't deal well with long or complex transitions. Webex is better at some things but not video quality. I shall continue to explore. ... Ken
  5. Hi With meetings on hold, I am being asked frequently to present to groups, camera clubs mainly, via a 'live' video conference link using e.g. Zoom or Webex. My question: has anyone else tried the various output formats with video conferencing? Which works best? I have tested showing a compiled .exe sequence with music, and sound is fine but slow transitions appear very jumpy at the audience end. Most of my productions use manual input via a presenter device to advance the images, with occasional self-running segments. I am experimenting with both recorded narrative and live voiceover. I'd like to keep manual control as an option for live presenting so compressed video is not ideal. Any thoughts welcome. best regards ... Ken
  6. Igor Have updated the sound drivers - Realtek HD Audio. That does seem to have cured the problem. Seems an odd link ... what was the incompatibility? Thanks for your help.
  7. Igor thank you. I have just compiled a new EXE with parameters as you suggest. The same problem is evident - the exe loads to a dark slide, and the images can be advanced only manually, not automatically. There is neither sound nor any transition effect. I am going to try to reinstall PTE next. Being up to date is important, of course, but this happened directly after the Powerpoint call. I use chained-together PTE exe shows several times per week and have never had an issue with any combination of windows or PTE versions. Indeed the issue is not present on my deskptop, which uses precisely the same OS build and PTE versions. ... Ken
  8. Sorry, should have mentioned that I compiled my executables from PTE 9.0.20 and Windows 10 1803 Build 17134.706
  9. Hi all Suddenly all of the compiled PTE exe files I have on my Win10 laptop have stopped running correctly. They open to the first slide but do not advance automatically through the sequence. This happened after trying to call a PTE exe from within Powerpoint 2010, so I suspect either Microsoft Powerpoint security or Windows 10 as a cause. All PTE exe files on the machine are affected, not just the one I called. Has anyone else experienced this or have ideas as to a solution? ATB ... Ken
  10. Thanks Igor I will download and test this, but I can't do it for a few days, yet. Will advise. ... Ken
  11. Hi Igor Here's a test for you. When you run the EXE, the first slide should auto advance to slide 2. This is exactly how I have always set up my 'talk' projects. ... Ken Test.exe
  12. Igor, yes my issue was in new V9 projects, specifically 9.0.15, which I was setting up in the same way as I always had in V8 and earlier. The freeze, as I described it, was the first slide not advancing automatically at the end of its duration as specified in Slide Options, when the Wait for Key Press is checked on in Project Options.
  13. I think I have cracked it. There seems to be a default behaviour that has changed in V9, which is: I create many shows that are controlled manually for talks (as opposed to pure AV), so I have always set the Project Options to default to Wait for Key Press ... and overridden individual slides that I want to change automatically after the set time. They are always the first blank slide and the last blank slide, so that I have smooth transitions from one show to the next in the chain. In V9, even though the first blank slide was set to change automatically, I found that I had to advance it with a key press. By unchecking the default Wait for Key Press and setting all the manual slides in Slide Options, the show compiles normally as an exe. Igor; can you confirm if this is a bug? Or is it how it always was intended to work. All my shows in V7 and V8 worked, but V9 has changed. Many thanks for your help.
  14. Thanks Davegee. It has audio, yes, and some complexities in the transitions, but they're not huge. I have rebuilt the file as a new piece, and it compiles fine. So I'll wait until my presentation deadline is passed and will then maybe post up as you suggest. Cheers
