  1. I currently use PTE for proofing slide shows as well as AV shows of weddings, portraits etc and use the comment function to add the file number under each image. The exception to this is for the blank , corporate branding and instructional slides at the start and end of the show. Idealy I’d like to just turn off the comment here, but as that’s not an option I basically just use the customise function to change the comment text to the same colour as the background, so it doesn’t show.

However, in beta 11A the customise comment function for individual slides is not available.

I’ve just purchased the Video Builder upgrade because a customer has requested their proofs on DVD rather than CD but then discovered that I can’t get rid of the comments on some files. Is there a workaround for this or will Igor be re-implementing this function soon? I understand that I currently have a Beta version.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Lin

Thank you for taking the time to explain, it’s much appreciated. I was pretty sure that adding a blank slide was an option before but wondered if I had got mixed up with proshow. To be able to copy and paste a slides settings to one or multiple slides would be useful.

  3. Is there a tutorial anywhere for the animation features?

I have experimented with the settings with some success, but for some reason when I have zoomed and panned on an image with key points, if I change the settings from linear to say smooth, the panned position changes. I’m not sure why this is?

Is it possible to copy the settings from one image and then apply them to other single or multiple images?

It there a way of adding blank slides apart from making a blank slide in Photoshop and importing it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I’m quite excited about these new features of PTE. I’ve used Proshow Producer for the Ken Burnes affect in slide shows and whilst the features work well it does seem quite unstable, especially when burning the DVD with lots of rejects.

  4. Now if that wasn't disturbing!!! Thanks for the heads up. OMG. I did check my home page and there was some real freaky java script at the very top, right before the html tag. I've replaced that page with my original index page which is why you didn't get the warning, Ken. I also went through the rest of my index pages and could not find it anywhere else. Now I need to find out how it happened so it doesn't happen again. Stevie, thanks for the compliment and the heads up.

No problem, nothing like scaring your customers off!!

Can I ask what actions you are using on your pix?

Looks likes cross process or velvia?

  5. Hello! I've just uploaded a new show of some engagement portraits I've done. File size is 21.3MB and can be downloaded at: http://www.daydreamsart.com/engagementshow.zip No, it is not created with the cool version 5. Not a lot of PS tricks in this one either, just a simple show that I hope will make you smile!

Very nice slideshow Cindy. There are some great images there and also on your website, although I did get a virus warning when I clicked on your homepage!

  6. Is it possible to preview a slideshow in V5 from a set point? Currently when I click the preview button I get a preview of the whole slideshow rather than from a point in the show I like.

If the show has say 300 slides and is maybe 20 minutes long and I change the duration of something near the end of the show, it would be good to preview just the change and currently I cant seem to find a way of doing this.

  7. what error message did you get

I think the DVD just ejected.

what all programs did you use to do a disk copy

    I tried Clone DVD

    Stevie,

If you select the option to "Create DVD folders" in VideoBuilder, the program will save a copy of the video files to your HD. Then you can make any number of DVD's by simply copying these files to them, in normal "Data" mode. There will be 7 or more such files, named "VIDEO_TS.BUP", "VIDEO_TS.IFO", "VIDEO_TS.VOB", "VTS_01_0.BUP", etc. in a folder called "VIDEO_TS", as well as an empty folder, "AUDIO_TS". Simply copy the two folders: "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS" from your HD to the root of each DVD.

This should work for most DVD players - you might want to experiment a bit to make sure, first, before burning too many copies. Where it doesn't work is where copy protection has been applied to the DVD - a feature not yet available in PTE.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

Wouldn't copy protection would be a great feature.

  8. I have recently been using the new V5 beta and found making DVD’s simpler and more reliable than with Proshow, however I need some advice on making multiple copies.

It takes maybe 20 minutes to go through the process of producing the DVD from the PTE file, and if you then try to produce another it takes the same time again. With Proshow I think a temporary file is produced and any subsequent copies are made from that which takes a fraction of the time.

To try to make things easier I tried to just copy the first DVD, but couldn’t, even using Clone DVD. Is there some function in V5 to stop copying?

  9. I usually use the page turn affect for my proofing shows, but the one thing that I wish could be added somehow, was for the pages to turn in reverse when you manually navigate BACK through a slide show with the arrow keys.

At the moment when you are going forwards it looks great, but as soon as you go backwards the page turn affect continues to look as though you are going forwards, which can be a little confusing to clients.

  10. Yes, Ron is correct - it can be either the same drive or a different one - but preferrably a folder just "below" the present one so you know where to find it, or even a sub-folder of the present one. Doesn't matter - PTE is very flexible. :)

Thank you both, I will give it a try. I’ve always been cautious about changing the files in the program folder.

  11. Stevie,

One way is to simply copy all the files and subfolders in the current PTE directory over to a new one, and then download the new version into that directory, unzip it, and save the new files over the ones existing. Then click "setup" to install it, with or without the usual icons, etc. Then you can easily select which version you want to use.

Thanks for your response, can you expand on it a little more though.

When you say copy all the files into a new directory, do you mean add a new blank folder in the programs folder called say PTE2 and then copy all the existing files from the Picturestoexe folder into that? Or do you mean copy all the PTE program files into a new folder on another hard drive?

  12. I’m currently using PTE v4.4 (actually I appear to be using beta #2a). I seem to remember reading on here that there was away of downloading a later version while keeping an earlier one, to revert back to if necessary.

    How do I do this?

I don’t want to over write 4.4 as I currently use it for my proofing, but I would like to try V5 to compare with Proshow Gold.

  13. My number one wish is pan and zoom which we all know is coming soon (Like many I can hardly wait and log on virtually every day hoping for news)!

However, I’d also like new slides which are added to an existing show to take on the same attributes as the slide which they are dropped on to. In other words if you had added custom functions to a slide you could just drop in new slides and they would have the same functions. Another option would be able to cut and past custom slide attributes to a number of selected slides (forgive me if this already exists).

One final thing which I would like to see is for transitions to work in reverse when you navigate through a show backwards using the arrow keys. I use the page curling function for proofing portraits and weddings and when you go backwards it’s a bit weird because the transition curls the same way. It’s as if you are still turning the pages of a book over towards the back of the book, yet you are going the other way in pages!

  14. I liked the show very much.

Ken, the majority of wedding albums these days seem to be dark colours, with black very popular amongst young style conscious couples Personally I think it works really well although it’s not to everyone’s taste. It really makes some of the bright dresses stand out.

  15. Excellent. A fair bit of reading for a Sunday morning but I found it in the end. :D

Just alter the line spacing for a single line comment and it shifts the text….fantastic! Thanks for the help Ken. Isn’t it great to have a happy forum like this that welcomes everyone.

Reading the other threads about what people are up to with PTE really inspires me to try other ideas.

PTE is a fantastic tool for showing my wedding pictures to clients are there many other wedding photog’s on this forum?
