Indeed-- especially true with today's "action movies". They have legions of fans that love 'em of course but to me-- just way overdone. Hard to watch. Just too old and set in my ways I guess... But as a typical slideshow does not have a plot, or characters, or a script per se, it's a whole other challenge to get & keep the viewer's attention. Unless of course it means something to you personally. A wedding show, family reunion show, and such.

Yikes-- that's very cool! Pretty amazing scenery. Hope to make it to that part of the world one of these days. We have a webcam that we use on our multi-month travels in the winter in our motorhome. Hour, after hour, after hour, of some pretty bland footage, but... then there's that one one time fo a few minutes you manage to capture something compelling. It's fun to look back anyway...

Hi Barry, Very interesting/creative video! What I'm most interested in is how a video show is put together rather than the actual editing capabilities of PT AV. I think that most beginner drone videographers are understandably excited to fly & capture video that initially the video they produce is simply a playback of their flight. Interesting to them, but others-- not so much. I think your video is a great example of the kinds of effects that can go a long way to making shows more interesting. Of course how one views a video is very subjective, but what I like about your video in particular: Of course content is king and the area you recorded is downright spectacular. Grabs you right off Relatively short segments of each scene with smooth transitions between-- not several minutes of one long flight path. Holds one attention better IMO Low enough AGL in many scenes adds a lot to getting a better feel for the landscape. Nice mix of ascending/descending clips LOVE the fixed, vertical views of the waves! Point the camera down, record and HOLD. Cool. Of course if helps to have such compelling scenery but it seems like most drone videos rarely use this technique. One thing I'm trying to do myself is to incorporate still, ground based images into the video. Also pondering if some of the transition effects used in shows with still images might work with video. (?) Right now I'm between drones having sold all my old 3DR gear and moved to the more portable DJI offerings. Hopefully back in action soon but I'll have a long way to go to catch up with you!

I'm working with a group of fairly new drone owners who are just getting up to speed with working with the video they capture while flying. Unfortunately for the most part their productions are really, really boring. That's fine given they're just starting but I'd like to be able to give them some suggestions as to how to do some more creative things. I've used PTE a bit for shows with still images, but not so much with video. Would really like to see a few samples of shows created primarily with video content if there's any out there. (?) Jim

According to the docs, Hide Child objects: Will hide any objects inserted as a Child of a main object I thought that meant that if this option is checked with the parent object selected, all attached child objects would be hidden but as does not appear to be the case in my testing, there must be another explanation?

Yep, exactly what I typically do. In fact I was working on a pretty large project using Premiere Pro and given the constant changes along with some "go back" requests, I was using a naming convention along the lines of Project_01, Project_02, Project_03 etc. etc. to make sequential changes. I was up to over 40 "Save as" before that project was wrapped up. Hopefully other than Cntrl+S being an option with PTE 10, there will be a "Save as" option in order to use this strategy. And I still would like to see my "Revert" option. Not a big deal either way...

Thanks for the input Igor. Ctrl + S in O&A will definitely help. Never been a fan of Auto Save myself. I can understand how in principle it can help, but I prefer to manage my own save points. For example (assuming the Cntrl+S feature is present), I may be working in O&A and add/adjust a number of keyframes, then SAVE. Make several other changes then SAVE. Finally get a brilliant idea of something I want to do only to find out it was a bad idea (happens often!). I don't want to lose the changes I made during the first two SAVEs but at the same time I don't want to save these last misguided steps. Seems the only option at that point is to close the program, don't SAVE, then reopen. Having an option to simply "Revert" would be work well. Not huge issues but just wondering if perhaps others work the same way.

May be missing something basic but when working in the Objects & Animations area, is there any way to save changes you've made without having to "close" first? Also, at least with my workflow there are times when I get into all kinds of "trouble" when mucking with numerous settings and I just want to bail out and get back to where I started. Is there any way to "Revert" as one can do with other programs without having to close & reopen PTE?

Thanks Barry. That's one of many of your excellent videos I've watched. However these folks are more of a PowerPoint mentality than a slideshow of images. I understand that anyone with an imagination should be able to watch the video and easily see how their vision could be created with PTE, however I was looking more for a finished project/show that might be more in line with a corporate type presentation. You know-- boring stuff like pie charts, org charts, and quarterly reports. :-) In the meantime I've started to put something together myself based on some of their existing material.

I have a client who wants to be able to incorporate training type videos into their eLearning system. Although there's tons of really great sample shows out there, I'm trying to find one with more of a "corporate" look. Ideally with some video & voice over, perhaps some basic fade in/out text overlays-- stuff like that. Perhaps someone here can recommend a PTE along those lines that I could show them?

Thanks for the detailed response Lin. Makes perfect sense. Our main video production machine does have enough HP but for all the other reasons you pointed out it seems it would be worthwhile to selectively set overall image size to suit what's going on where it appears in the presentation.

Working on producing a project that will ultimately be projected on an HD projector at 1920 x 1080. For some slides where there will be little to no animation so I assume there a resolution of 2,000 px will suffice. However a few of the slides will have quite a bit of "zooming in" so there I would think a higher resolution source image would work best in those cases. My question is are there any downsides to importing all images whether they will have any animation or not at their full, native resolution of 5,616 × 3,744 px? Might that cause a noticeable slowdown or perhaps result in a loss of quality when downsizing?

Denis & Dave-- Thank you very much for the input- and the sample! I was thinking that somehow there must be a way to "group" and even did some searches for the parent/child thing but didn't come up with anything. The style will be a huge help in beginning to understand how things work.

Quite familiar with keyframing in general (Premiere Pro e.g.) but can't quite figure out whether there's any way to do what I want within PicturesToExe... The basic concept is to have a slide which contains an image of a large room wall. Hanging on the wall are a number of framed images. Say they're arranged horizontally evenly spaced across the wall. What I want to do is to have the slide zoom into, for example, the framed image on the left, pause a bit, then pan over to the center image, pause, pan over to the right picture. Seems pretty straight forward if I simply create the wall with the three images in one file then set the keyframes, but is there any way to have the wall + the three pictures as separate objects on the same slide? Thinking is that if I could do that then other options would present themselves such as having one of the images appear, then dissolve into a different image at the same spot. Summer & winter perspectives e.g. I see I can add the three images to the base "wall" slide in PicturesdToExe but can't figure out any way to coordinate the movement I need to accomplish this.

If we purchase the "Essentials" version now will be able to upgrade to the "Deluxe" version at a later time for just the price difference?
