I'm attempting to use the "Wait for Keypress" feature for a single slide with mixed results. This is version 12 of PTE AV Studio Pro on a Win10 system. I have the Slide option set to "Wait for keypress to show next slide". In Project Options, the "Wait for keypress" is off, and the "Permit control of show using keyboard" option is selected. When previewing the show using the preview player, it seems to work as expected. But in the rendered MP4 video of the same project, the show just progresses on past this slide and does not stop as expected. Also, when simply running the show in the main window, it does not stop for a keypress. Do I have something set incorrectly?

Thanks. To the best of my knowledge I have never intentionally used Full Duration. What I'm doing here is adding a few slides of intro to several existing presentations. I made a small project to create and debug the intro. And now I'm copying a small number of slides from that project, including a couple blank slides, to the beginning of some of my slide shows. The blanks didn't seem to copy well, but now I think I have the right process worked out. I'm a firm believer in "just in time learning." This was the sort of situation when I really wished software makers would still provide manuals that were indexed' so that one could find and correct these little gotchas. I guess I'm too old-school. I watched all of Barry Beckham's videos a while ago, but I can't retain everything. And it's nearly impossible to find the right video. Thanks for your help. -Mike

That was the answer! It even works when copying slides from one .pte file to another maintaining the timing of both segments as long as the audio tracks are linked to their own starting slides. Thanks for the help.

Sometimes, when I insert slides into an existing project it causes the timing of subsequent slides to change. I'm looking for a way to guarantee that existing timings will not change when new material is inserted. I know I have seen the answer to this issue in one of the Beckham tutorial videos, but I can't find it now, nor can I find a reference in the online help. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, -Mike

Thanks for the help! This approach will work, and I'm implementing it. But feels a little bit counter intuitive. I guess I'm probably set in my ways after my 43+ years in the computer industry. I just keep needing to remind myself that "change is good!" I will need to clear up all the old, now superfluous, files. I don't like the idea of keeping multiple copies of files around to clutter up my drives. There are multiple drives in my workstation already, and I take enough photos that my disk usage is always creeping up. Is there a tutorial somewhere online that walks us through these file management issues? Thanks again, -Mike

OK, your suggestion seems to work, but with a couple of hitches. First, creating the template appears to copy all the project resources, so I need to go back and delete the files from their original location. Second, I occasionally build a simple slide show in another program like Power Point. Now my resources are saved in different folders depending on which software I use. Can I somehow consolidate all these folders together?

This sounds like it might work. Will I need to create this .PT folder for every PTE project? Or can I simply rename the existing folders I already have with this .PT extension? Also, can I then move the group folder to another drive, for example, if I need to for space reasons?

Similar to this issue: (SOLVED) Copy project to another file...slides' locations don't adjust to new folder's location I recently needed to rearrange my hard drives to create room for growth. The result was that all my existing PTE projects lost track of their image and audio files. The only solution I could fine was to manually go through each existing project one at a time to locate "missing" files. My process is to keep the files for each project in a sub-folder of a common directory. They are not stored with the projects themselves. Is there, or could there be in a future update, a way to identify the common root directory one time for all those files? Will I need to do this every time I rearrange my hard drives? It is a painful process.
