  1. TheDom, thank you for your comments,

    Markers have three goals.

    - they permits to fix key timecodes. That's usefull when some object lines or waveforms are hidden.

    - when magnetism is activated, it's a easy manner to gather, exactly with the same timecode, several keyframes

situated on different objects. Magnetism strength is expressed in milliseconds.

    - and if keyframes are binded to a marker (see marker popmenu), to move them together.

In this example, marker A is binded post-1832-1198517686_thumb.jpg

to 3 keyframes and marker B to 2 keyframes

  2. Thank You very much Igor for your comments (thanks also to forum members).

This was a interesting work to build this model. Perhaps through it, forum members could better express their wishes.

But I know, it is more difficult to develop an operational program and 5.2 release will be a new big step in PTE history with its grid and waveform functionnalities.

PTE with its fabulous engine is certainly the most efficient product in its domain.

Now people have a lot of possibilities to create imaginative slideshows. Honestly, I don't see what is missing.

Nevertheless I think that PTE interface (for AV creators) could be much improved.

For example, in O&A module, multi tracks object for keyframes editing is a 'must'.

    Perhaps in PTE 5.3?

  3. You will find Here a compilation of diverse suggestions requested by forum members.

I have implemented a dynamic model to reflect these requests (and other personal ones) concerning only the A&O module.

It is a program, ProjectAO.exe which is distributed with a PDF text to describe the new functions, plus a dll file, 3 pictures and a sound file which work with it.

It shows especially a solution, I think pretty, to view (and edit) all keyframe object lines and waveforms simultaneously on the current A&O window allowing a perfect components synchronization.

To run this model, download zip file, unzip it, and launch ProjectAO.exe

    Zip file (4.2 MB) contents:

    - exe + dll files

    - 3 jpg files + 1 mp3

    - 2 pdf files (english, french)

  4. On my PC, PTE project files (*.pte) are associated with PTE program(apr.exe) .

When I click on such a file, effectively I launch PicturesToExe program , but it opens last project and not the clicked file. Is it normal?

That doesn't happen with Excel, Word or Photoshop for example.

  5. what is the use of this 'Target' function and how it works?

You can add as many targets as you want on the grid. This targets are reference marks, and if your grid is drawed

with its upper left top in adress 0,0 of PC screen, they constitute absolute points of reference on your screen.

When you close GUS, this values are saved in GUS.INI file and you can retrieve them.

So with this targets, you can construct exact overlaying of objects in PTE O&A, from one main image to another.

You can also use them with Photoshop or another program.

Ken, Al, Paul, Lin, Gogs, John, Gérard,

Thank you very much for your compliments. I hope GUS will be useful for the slideshow authors.

If you have an idea to improve it...

  6. You wanted it, you get it: GUS, a GPS for slideshow authors,

First, we definitely need a precision grid to do this type thing well. It's necessary to match image positions and sizes nearly perfectly from end of slide one to beginning of slide two, etc.

GUS, Grid Utility for Slideshows, is a new freeware dedicated to this problem. It is totally independent from any other program. You can even use it with PhotoShop.

Two langages available: English and French.

    post-1832-1182166262_thumb.jpg

GUS is a software which displays a grid (on transparent background of course), always floating on top of all the windows opened by other applications.

If necessary, it is possible to launch more than one GUS program with various parameters, enabling the overlaying of the grids.

    - The grid step can be adjusted from 16 to 512 pixels.

    - Line thickness can be set from 1 to 3 pixels, and its color can be selected (except LIME color). A second color can be used for every 5th line of the grid.

    - It is possible to move the grid pixel by pixel in 4 directions for more accurate positioning than by moving the window itself. A button cancels cell shifting.

    - The size can be adjusted using the standard Windows procedure by dragging the sides or the tops of the window. Button 'Adjust' expands grid size to window size. The size of the grid is displayed at the bottom left corner.

    - The toolbar on the left can be hidden. To restore the toolbar, click on the small icon in the upper left corner or restart the program.

    - To create a reference mark (target) click exactly on a line of the grid. To select a target click exactly in its center. Selected target can be deleted or moved using arrows.

    - Each time GUS is launched, the previous settings are restored. They are saved in file GUS.INI being in the same directory, allowing the retrieval of the same configuration.

    - Once the operation of the software (which is after all very easy) is mastered, tooltips can be masked.

    - Although there is no 'minimize' icon, it is always possible to minimize, maximize and then restore the window to its previous state by activating the system menu with a right click on the title bar or the task bar.

  7. Birding, thank you for finding Sy(P) useful.

I'm now implementing a new version for PTE last version, but PTE 5.xx isn't today fixed, .PTE file structure is continually modified.

I must wait for a definitive PTE 5.00 version to release Sy(P) 2.00.

  8. as a general rule, content from one application can be copied-to-the-Clipboard and then pasted into a document in another application (presupposing a data-type compatibility).

With Sy(P) you can copy a text from a simple editor (like NotePad or Context) and paste it into a PTE project as comment when you are working with the spreadsheet editor of Sy(P).

If your text is composed of several paragraphs, you can specify for each a separator string (for example: #### , see menu Options). In this case each paragraph is pasted separately in each picture.

  9. I think your project is synchronized.

If you add (or duplicate) pictures, to preserve time-code of following picture (perhaps the last one),

time of previous one is divided and applied to all new pictures.

So first, you must de-synchronize your project ( menu <view/modify main parameters>) and then duplicate block of pictures.

  10. I suppose your show is a non-synchronized show.

    You can use Sy(P) freeware.

    - Open the project,

    - launch the spreadsheet parameter editor,

    - select first slide

    - with Shift key, select the last one, all the slides are selected,

    - in popmenu (mouse right click), you can see 'duplicate block...n pictures'

    - the entire block is duplicated, preserving all timing and transitions,

    - repeat same process as needed,

    it's very easy with Sy(P)!

  11. ... i,ve sorted and set to music and saved them as several p2e files and if possible i want to join them together to make a longer exe show.

With Sy(P) you can do it!

Synopsis PTE -Sy(P)- is a complementary tool dedicated to PTE users. It's a freeware , current version: 1.10a

    See threads above:

    First version

    Last version

In Sy(P) you will find a Projects merging/splitting tool.

    - First open all projects and launch this tool,

    - Select radio button -Merging function-

    - Click on -Add all- button

    - Click on -Merge- button

    post-1832-1143397529_thumb.jpg

  12. .. a quick route to reversal, even via Synopsis PTE?

Effectively, with Sy(P) you can do it, and it's easy:

    - load your PTE project,

    - launch the Spreadsheet Parameters Editor, or the Light Table,

    - select a block of images ( Left Click on first image, Shift+ left click on the last)

    - with Right Click you get a popup menu where you can see the verb: REVERSE ORDER OF BLOCK,

    - save your project with the same name or not.

    Good luck.

  13. As mentionned above, you can use Sy(P) freeware.

1 - Open your Pte project. You get an error message("at least one picture file doesn't exist")

    2 - Launch <File name manager> (<Tools> menu or <icon> on task bar)

3 - in left part on the window select files in error

    - in right top corner choose the correct directory (double clicking)

4 - click on <VERIFY> to see if every thing is correct

5 - if yes, click on <APPLY>. PTE file content is now modified.

    6 - save your Pte project. It's all. :D

  14. Is there a facility to select a number of slides and add a common comment to (only) them. If not, that's a suggestion for the next version.

Alan, you can find this facility in Sy(P) freeware. which is a complementary tool to PTE.

    Download HERE

Open your PTE project, launch the <Spreadsheet parameter editor>, select the lines (left click, + CTRL or SHIFT keys) you want to modify and then right click to access comment editor.

  15. Thank you Igor for continuous PTE improvment,

#1 like JRR and AlRobin request, Objects stay in place but also respect the scale factor in different screen resolution

#2 horizontal and vertical scrolling text and image object during presentation (slide effect )

#3 invisible but sizeable hyperlink spot (ability to click on an original image part)

#4 variable opacity of image object

  16. You can also use Sy(P) a freeware, download HERE (see also post below)

    Install and launch Sy(P)

1- create a new synchronized project

    2- assign the sound track you have(menu <View/modify main parameters>, tablesheet <music>)

3- add the number of blank slides you want as dummies slides (generated by Sy(P))

. if you want a fade out to black for each, double the previous number

in the Sy(P) spreadsheet you can see and modify all the parameters attached to each picture

4- select all the pictures: assign FADE effect and a common effect duration to them

5- in a first step, equalize all image durations

6- on each dummy slide you can add a comment or a remark to identify it.

--> you get a whole dummy PTE project with the definitive sound track.

7- save it, you can play it in PTE. For the moment you will see only the comments.

8- When the pictures are available, you load them in Sy(P) picture pool, you select one, and with

the popup menu in the main window or in the spreadsheet or the dark table, you replace the corresponding dummy slide.

    9- adjust the durations

10- at the end of process you can erase if you want the comments.

    Regards

  17. Just few days ago, during a lesson at Turin University, I made for my students a PTE mini-show with two "third images", and I can assure you the effect is excellent.

I made these images using Photoshop layers at two transparency settings.

It's a long history! Sy(P) provides a tool to create directly the 'THIRD IMAGE" effect without any other software.

    ---------

Does anybody know of a way that one can print a list of the slides used in a sequence?

Sy(P) is the easiest way to print out the list of PTE project pictures, with THUMBNAILS and attached parameters.

    ---------

I have a very complex slideshow with lots of customized settings and different music for specific groups of slides.

I would be very happy off a listing (1 row/slide) with all settings/informations  which belong to each slide (.TXT or .CSV-Format).

With Sy(P) 1.10 you can obtain a listing or a RTF file with all settings, SOUND TRACKS included.

    ---------

How do you display filenames for files? I would like for the filenames to be displayed next to (above, below, on side, whatever!) each image being shown? Can this be done?

As PTE, Sy(P) permits you to display file name but also ALL PARAMETERS attached to a picture ( effect type, effect duration, image time...)

    ---------

...I recently learned of your feature that allows a user to combine more than one slideshow by running an "external operation".  However, I have tried it under Customize Slide and Project Options and I can't get it to work either way.  When I use it on the last slide under Customize Slide, it starts the music and the first slide comes up but it goes no further.  Any suggestions?

This is one of the new features of Sy(P) 1.10: MERGING and SPLITTING PTE projects.

    ---------

...Is there a way to create blank slides so I can add a title slide or credit slide? The only way I can think of is to either create a transparent alpha image or create my own slide in photoshop. There must be an easier way to do this. The gradient fill is so cool I want to use it on my text only screens.

Inserting BLANK pictures (one black pixel GIF file: 49 bytes): another functionnality of Sy(P) 1.10

    ---------

...so far I have been adding slides to my music one at a time and customising them individually. I now would like to fade this piece of music out and bring in a different piece. If I could see how much of the music I have used I could go and edit my music to fade in and out at this point...

Sy(P) shows you exactly how much music you need.
