  1. Assuming you are otherwise healthy, Harry, you are making the correct treatment choice at your age. I am a geriatric physician, and have relied upon you and many others in this forum for advice - finally, I can give some back. Overall, the tumors tend to be slow actors, the Gleason stage can be an indicator - so having the careful evaluation to assure there is no spread is important. We often will do a CAT scan of the pelvis as well as the bone scan. The VA should be well versed in the treatment. I am certain there are a multitude of online sites and even patient forums that you can explore to become as informed as you can be. Often patient forums can give you a patient's view of what to expect - and what questions they wished they asked or knew ahead of time. Best wishes. Alan
  2. I believe Granot, in one of his many utilities, has one that will automatically, temporarily load the show to the hard drive, play the show, then remove the show from the hard drive, if that helps. Doesn't solve your original question, but may be another work around if CD playability is a concern.
  3. Sounds like you have a lot of angst about the client playing the show on the computer, as it plays fine on the free standing DVD player. Why don't you put both the P2exe file and DVD file on the same DVD and an autoplay file for the exe file in the interim. That way, if they use the computer the exe file should come up automatically and run fine, and if they use the free standing DVD player, it should recognize that file, and it would not matter what time it says on the DVD player.
  4. I used Granot's Restore PTE to reproduce a slide show I made for my parent's 50th Anniversary. I spent 4 months working on that show, and once completed, I saved my EXE to a CD. Just after that my computer crashed and I lost all the individual images and the PTE file. This allowed me to retrieve my significant investment in time and reproduce the images so that I could then make a DVD of this. I completed the EXE in early 2003 prior to the ability of P2EXE creating DVD. You cannot blame Granot for making the tool - it is the old saying, a knife can carve a beautiful statue or it can slit a throat.
  5. The "MultiCD" utility I was referring to was actually your Multishow Player - I wrote the name incorrectly. The Multishow player requires more input from people than I wanted as I wanted to automatize it a tad further, similar to the TempCD but with multiple Exe which the TempCD will not allow. I suspect the Innosetup installer would do the trick, I just cannot figure out how to script the language correctly. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the advice, Jim. I did download it - but it is not intuitive enough for me with my skills, even with the wizard and examples . For those that know programming I imagine it is quite helpful. I bit the bullet and created one large mp3 file and put the eight shows together into one - for those that do want to a simple basic install for someone, and they are not particularly savvy, it looks like a wonderful program. If you are computer savvy, I imagine it is a superb piece of software. Thanks again for making the effort . Alan
  7. I have put together a program with 8 PTE shows -- when the first is completed it opens the second, then opens the 3rd, etc. The show runs better on the hard drive, naturally. Granot's Temp CD utility only works for one exe show that I can determine, and the MultiCD utility has people do more than I want them to do. Is there a way to blend the two - use the Temp CD utility to temporarily install 8 shows temporarily to the hard drive. Also, I wanted to use the Screen Resolution Utility to change the Screen Resolution and the FontInstaller utility to be sure the font was available for the user, which is also another program and the font file. Can the Temp CD program be expanded to accomodate that? Thanks, Alan
  8. Granot - this web site talks of the exact problem you are having and a workaround for now http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ Other things to consider are a patch for Internet Explorer to stop spoofing - giving you a false URL - and misdirecting you - here is more information regarding that and the patch http://www.computerproblems.com/questions/...on.cfm?id=10767 the patch is found here http://security.openwares.org/ Another site that I have found useful is: http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm they keep a running repository of problems and how to fix them. Hope that helps - and I hope the workaround on that first page is helpful. P.S. and thanks again for creating that utility for me
  9. Granot - Your AutoRes utility works perfectly for me (also OS (xp)) - it is easy to use. It resets the resolution if I stop the presentation in the middle. I understand the caveats you have about this, and I think given the disclaimers, others may find this useful. There is a risk in any freeware or unlicensed downloaded program. I appreciate your efforts on my behalf. Thanks again.
  10. In the old forum there was a utility that was available that could be used with the Autorun of a CD to change the screen resolution of the viewer. It would change it to your preferred resolution, then it would change it back at the end of the presentation. One advantage of this is when I use objects, sometimes they move if the resolution changes. The other, is that the programs run smoother with smaller image file sizes, and with an 800x600 resolution the file sizes of the images are 100 or less at 72 dpi which is fine for a monitor. Monitor sizes, however, have increased in size, so most, like myself, keep their monitor settings higher. The show will then only partially fill the monitor, whereas it would show the images on the entire monitor if the resolution can be changed. Does anyone remember that utility or have one that will do the same thing that can be added into an autorun.inf to change the resolution, start the program and then reset the resolution at the conclusion of the show? Thanks
  11. I used a suggestion that was found on the forum previously that was a simple workaround. I just insert an object button with the object editor onto my first slide, or as many as I need, then have each button go to a certain slide in the presentation. When I start the preview, I click on the button, and it skips to the portion of the show that I desire. Just remove the objects when you are ready to complete and create the show. Works like a charm, particularly for large shows.
  12. Great feature! If you could find a way to resize objects in PTE also that would save a lot of time and allow me to place different pictures more easily around the screen
  13. I have a Coolpix 5000 and had nothing but trouble with it shooting in lower light with flash. It was unreliable and despite all the bells and whistles, my less expensive Sony Cybershot knocked the socks off of it in low light. The camera store even gave me a new 5000, and it had the same problem. I do not know if that is an issue with the 5700, but can't imagine they have changed. Also, accessories for Nikon were difficult to procure. I have a Dimage 7hi and it has worked out quite well, easy to use, and with an adquate zoom.

    Welcome!

Glad to see the forum back and running. Perhaps I missed the notification, but a little heads up that the old forum was going away would have been nice. Could have been done thru the old forum or the newsletter. There was a wealth of information in the old forum, and if the messages are not imported it will take a lot of time to create again.
