I have just come back to files for exe after a period in hospital and a long period of recovery. Let me say at the outset that I have no interest in adding Video to any future sequences. When I got back into harness again the first thing I did was to load the latest programme I could find, my computer now displays that I have ver 7.4 beta but even more alarming I now have a different screen to cope with. I after several hours managed to come to terms with it but I cannot for the life of me see a way of adding titles or comment on the pictures, equally I find that no system exists for producing a black slide at the beginning and end of a show. Help, what am I doing wrong.Gilbert Jones

I am now 81years old and some months ago at the start of the year my desktop computer failed and I litertally lost every thing on it. Luckily all my pte shows are on a memory card so they at lest are safe. I have been doing shows in the West Midlands for some 15 years prior to the problems and during this this time I must have given over 150 shows to all sorts of organisations, some are as far back as ver 4,5 and before this I used slide /tape shows which were not easy to do.I used to cover the travel costs and my fee for doing each show including travel amounted on avarage to £10.00 so I did not make much as you can see.Now I have nothing, I tried loading my original key wthout any success, luckily I kept it on a cd so at least it was safe. I now have another desktop computer but can no longer use PTE? If it is any help to Igor I am not interested in Video! the original PTE programme was devloped by the amateur market with the help of peolpe like me and various clubs around the country and yet today a certain area of the market clamours for dvd why?GIlbert Jones

A message for Igor, I have been using Pictures to exe sinc ver 4.5 and then my computer crashed and now I have nothing can you help me please.

My existing machine is on the blink and I'm afraid I shall have to replace it. Naturally the new one will work on Windows 7 has any one ideas on the specification for a new one. Gilbert

I think I have found the trouble. I noticed that the programme at the top of the screen is called 6.5 de luxe. This is not the version I intended nor do I need it so it must have downloaded in advertantly. I re made the show in ver 6.00 and all is well. The only problem I have now is how do I get a copy which is not the de luxe version 6,5 but the standard one i 6.5 ver?

To answer the many people who responded to my message , let me elaborate a little more. I am trying to use ver 6.5. I assembled the pictures in the normal way, did a create file as is usual in PTE and lo and behold I have a problem. A project file is created and the line at the bottom of the page reads EXE 5.1MB 234kb 1000x1750 C=Documents and Settings/owner/My documents/my pictures/1000427 R jpg. If all that helps. I managed to find the file when I pressed the my documents line and there it appears as separate entry as Bethel Nursery project file 1. No matter what I do it will not open via a memory stick on my laptop when other earlier versions of PTE do. What do I do now? Gilbert

I have used PTE for many years now and with the exception of now have not experienced a problem. The difficulty arises when I CREATE a new program. I get a project file appear instead of the usual PTE icon , when I move to my laptop with a Kingston memory reader it will not open the file. Saying that windows cannot open it as it cannot find the file it needs. What am I doing wrong?Gilbert

I have recently cleaned up my hard disc and have removed all the beta version of PTE6 except the programme itself. Now I appear to have removed the Icons as well, how I do not know. My question is, can what I do be allowable and still retain the icons which give access to the programme. More importantly how do I restore them? Gilbert

I have created a slide show in the normal way created a PC icon ( or so I thought) and lo and behold the Icon is not where it normally is in my Documents instead the programme tells me that it is now in My Pictures except that it isnt. I don't know where it is. Help what has gone wrong?Gilbert

A friend of mine has several hundred 2.25"slides which he wishes to scan ino the digital process. Has anyone found an easy way of doing this,. Gilbert Jones

I have just completed making a show for a friend on Windows XP. Have now played it on his laptop which has Windows Vista Home premium and the show stops at approximately 1 min for the end. I know other people have had this problem. Is there a cure for it.?

If it helps. I bought a BENQ PB 2250 Digital Projector some time ago now and have been using it ever since. I use it to show PTE sequences to a wide variety of audiences without a problem. I'm not sure what their current model is but mine is both reliable and adequate. Gilbert Jones UK

In reply to yours, as far as I know I am doing nothing different now to what I have done before. No I do not have 2500 images in the programme only some 60 . The fiogure of 2500 represents my total output over the last two tears or more. Gilbert

I have been using PTE for about the last 3/4years without a real problem Today i have tried to load a set of slides which have been scanned from colour slides as have about 2500 others and nothing happens. I completed a show a few days ago without a problem , but now I cannot get the slide file in My Pictures to open. It is almost as if it is invisible to PTE5.5 . I have today downloaded ver 5.6 ver Beta 8 with no better results. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your very helpful reply, what I have done is to process the files through Photoshop CS3 so as to convert all the files to JPEG and at the same time I have resized them. This seems to have solved the problem provided I use the JPEG files all seems to work OK. Many thanks again for your help. Gilbert

I have recently loded onto my hard disc two dvd's with many pictures on them prior to starting making an AV on 5.5. I note that when I call them up into 5.5 over 50% of them are B& W and some have got coloured stripes vertically across them. Any one had this before, any suggestions as to the cause/ Gilbert Jones

Thank you for your helpful reply. Regrettably all I have is the EXE files so it is not possible to use the slides on their own. I have downloaded on 30 day test a screen capture program but I cannot find a way to open the Pte5 exe file so that I can copy the pictures, I suspect this is because of the audio content of the file. Am I doing the right thing or are my assumptions right. Sorry for the delay but we have been away for a few days holiday. Gilbert

I have a slide sequence which I made around 6 years ago, before I knew about templates etc. I would like to do it again and bring it up to date. Is there any way I can do this? I had thought photographing each image on the screen, is ther a better or possible way. Gilbert

If it helps I have recently had a laptop made specially for me with a 512mb GEFORCE 8600T =D -SUB =TV - OUT card and it has shown everything I have yet thrown at it . I am very satisfied with its performance. Gilbert

I must co9nfess that I have never experienced any problems with PTE until now. The present problem seemed to become apparent when I started to add music to it, I added the first MP3 file and noticed that the programme started to speed up . so at that point I have not added any more. Should I complete the final loading of music, is this causing my problem I'm thinking as I write here. the music I have added occupies about 50% of the total time for the music to occupy, could this be a problem?. I have used PTE in its various guises for a number of years now without a problem, however I now have one which has been encountered using the latest download 5.1 dated 17.12.2007. The problem I am getting is that the show is running at about twice the speed it should irrespective of what I do to the settings, This seems particularly bad in the first 20 or so slides but improves very little as it progresses. I have tried changing the show settings in project options with noavail, tried resetting and saving everything but no difference. Have I done something wrong - if so what? or have I discovered a problem. Help!! Gilbert

This is something I have not experienced before. This am I put the finishing touches to a show complete with animated titles and saved it in the usual way. When I came to open it tonight everything had disappeared, the templates would not open - nothing. I have had to reload the slides from My Pictures and literally start again. I have just reached the point of adding animated titles when it dawned on me that the file containing the titles was still on the screen completely untouched. I have never had any problems with any of the versions of PTE I have used over the past two years does anyone have an explanation for what has happened. For the record I have not yet downloaded the ver 5.1 8 available on the 13.12.2008. The pc I am using is more than adequate for what I ask it to do having been specially built to accommodate our needs. Gilbert
